    • Beautiful and a nice tone
Size: Tenor Style: Bamboo
Review Image by Chloe Weathersby
I've been playing ukulele for 8 years, but all of my ukes have been gifts. This is the first one I was able to pick out and buy for myself, and the first Kala I've ever owned. Fresh out of the box, the sound was a little muffled compared to my Fender and I was a little disappointed, even though it's so gorgeous. But after about a week of playing it every day, it's relaxed enough that the tone has become loud and rich, and I just love it. ... show more

    • Great build, poor projection
Size: Concert Style: Bamboo
I have a few ukes which I seldom played. I was bored during a 10 week vacation and bought a $80 Kala wipeout uke. I was so impressed I bought this one, made of bamboo. It’s a cool concept but it turns out there’s a reason stringed instruments aren’t made of bamboo- it absorbs the sound and you end up with a dead sound. This instrument is great for practice etc but if you’re looking for a sweet tone that projects I would look elsewhere. Kala is an excellent brand just know what you’re buying. ... show more

    • Muy bien ukulele
Size: Concert Style: Bamboo

    • Great looking uke, nice tone
Size: Tenor Style: Bamboo
This is a well made, well finished (satin) ukulele perfect for beginners or intermediate players. It could be debated whether is is "solid bamboo" since because it is really solid pieces laminated rather then bamboo plywood, but that's a discussion for another day. It has a nice tone, I agree that strung like a traditional uke it is a tad bright. I restrung it with Pepe Romero Baby Baritone strings and now it is much more mellow. Very pleased with my purchase. ... show more

    • Quality control on setup lacking.
Size: Tenor Style: Bamboo
It's a very beautiful use of bamboo with a lovely flat finish. I really wanted to keep this ukelele but I'm sending it back for two reasons. First the fret ends stick out beyond the edge of the fretboard so that they catch your skin when you slide your hand up and down the neck. Second there is a buzz when you pluck a fingered string. The first problem I might have worked with but the second I believe could take a guitar maker to work out. The instrument should have been ready to play out of the box after tuning. ... show more

    • LOVE Eco Bamboo!
Size: Concert Style: Bamboo
Love the bamboo material (very eco) used to create this instrument, its beautiful pattern, and the lovely sound of this Kala ukulele. Concert size is so lightweight, easy to hold and play. Perfect for me!
