I bought this bamboo concert out of curiosity and to make my collection varied. But I lwas surprised at the bright, loud tone. It's marketed as solid bamboo but bamboo doesn't come in flat sheets so technically, it must be a laminate upon itself. I have a few ukes which I seldom played. I was bored during a 10 week vacation and bought a $80 Kala wipeout uke. I was so impressed I bought this one, made of bamboo. It’s a cool concept but it turns out there’s a reason stringed instruments aren’t made of bamboo- it absorbs the sound and you end up with a dead sound. This instrument is great for practice etc but if you’re looking for a sweet tone that projects I would look elsewhere. Kala is an excellent brand just know what you’re buying. ... show more

Over all I love the quality finish and the sound! BUT THERE’s a crack on the ukulele, I just got it today too! And was so excited, now am disappointed:(

    • Starter uke. Great look; good price; so-so intonation.
Price was reasonable. I love the look. It doesn’t really resonate much. Intonation is not so good. C string especially is sharp almost 20% on the first fret. It may not trouble most folks.
