    • Works well, but needs better installation instructions for each car it fits.
I have installed multiple K&N products in the past 25 years. Most are very easy. This one took a bit longer probably due to the multiple vehicle applications, but the instructions that come with the kit do not clear differentiate which part are used for which vehicle. So I had to guess and test fit multi fittings to see how it worked or didn’t. Happy with the final setup! Car feels peppier! ... show more

Dropped this in my 1995 3.4 camaro and it really opened up the top end. Added a magnaflow exhaust to it and the motor really breathes so much easier. Definite power gain for sure. A great deal for the price! Came right on time, no issues, cant complain about anything. Be aware, the filter instals from the bottom, so if your cars lowered, your need to jack it up, but a stock camaro, i hand enough space to work on it no problem. You just have to take out a couple bolts and this little tray drops down allowing you to reach up and mount the filter. Also, be careful in water, avoid big puddles if possible. ... show more

One of the easiest ways to increase HP without getting into engine internals. For a novice, this was a decent challenge, but really doable by anyone with some basic tools and a little determination. **updated with 2 photos** PRO: Really did increase horsepower when paired with a JEGS aluminum air intake elbow by at least 20 hp (installed on 1994 Camaro with LT1 engine). V-8 rumble is more pronounced and sounds great! MPG has gone up for both city and highway (now 16/22 versus old 14/19 mpg). At Willow Springs track, lap times decreased [good], while mileage also decreased (now 8 versus old 10 mpg) [meh]. CON: Original K&N design puts very large air filter (6"x12", with 4" flange) underneath the chassis and easily damaged by road debris or water. The large plastic elbow did not fit in between the radiator and on top of the brake ABS assembly. Keep in mind, for Gen IV Camaros/Firebirds, the radiator and A/C condenser are hooked together and are only held in place by the hoses and A/C pipes. No bolts are used to keep the radiator assembly in place or give the ability to adjust them. I had to modify the install and use the stock Mass Air Flow/air pump section. Pictures show installation (a) JEGS aluminum elbow, (b) stock Mass Air Flow sensor assembly and stock plastic attachment to air pump (resting over brake ABS assembly), and (c) K&N filter. **Recommend the JEGS elbow be paired with the stock MAF as shown and purchase a stand-alone K&N filter, number RF-1015 plus 4" into 3" rubber reducer (or alternates RE-0800/0820 that already come with a 3" flange). This will save you about $150-180 and it rests in a protected area of the chassis rather than down below [always check your state's emissions codes]. ... show more

    • Sounds good & boosts performance, but...
Had this installed on my stock 1995 Z28 Camaro by my mechanic. I can notice the throttle response and it almost sounds like one of my old Holley dual feeds when I open it up. After installation, he called me over to see where the actual filter is. The filter is mounted so low that you CANNOT go through deep puddles or standing water or risk sucking in water into engine & that's never a good thing. The bottom of this filter is just above the plastic tray. But that's where it needs to be to suck in cool air. This is from the installation instructions..." CAUTION: The Air filter has been positioned low to maximize the performance of your vehicle. Extreme care should be taken in wet conditions as excessive water in the filter can lead to engine damage." Remember, this review is for this model for the Camaro only. Other models might not have this problem. So if you see a sign that says ROAD FLOODED turn around! ... show more
