  • 2005 Wrangler can now take deep breaths
This item is ALMOST bolt-on. Some models will have to have a drill handy to mount the temperature sensor into the tube, which added 20-25 minutes to install for me as I didn't have the right drill bit size. I've seen a noticeable improvement in throttle response and overall HP and torque. That and everyone who rides with me now, hears the engine gulping when I give it some gas instead of gasping for air when needed. I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Sport and this was a great starting point for future projects. With more and more items being hassle free installed like this, I can see myself adding a lot of work to my Jeep. Have fun, be smart, drive crazy! Edit: I've had this installed on my 2005 Jeep Wrangler TJ for almost 18 months now and am very pleased with the results. Previously I was getting about 12MPGcity/14.5MPGhwy. I've seen better improvements in my city MPG than HWY as the vehicle just doesn't have the aerodynamics to improve much at 65+MPH (only up to 14.9MPG). My city mileage has jumped to an average of 14.2MPG over the last 6 months I've been calculating it, giving me and extra 2.2 MPG. With the 17 Gal tank, this is an extra 37.4 miles per tank. Given the MPG, that's about 2.6 gallons of fuel I didn't have to buy from the stock setup, and about $7-10 saved per fill up. Over the last year alone, this has paid for the install and a few additional accessories...next is a high-flow exhaust. Review to come. ... show more

  • Great Product, Better Price
I couldn't ask for a better product. I have never worked on cars in my life, but finally got my dream car about a week and half ago (2003 Jeep Wrangler Sahara [TJ]) and this was the first upgrade I made on it. First off, the installation was a breeze. As long as you have a ratchet and/or wrench set and a flat head screwdriver you're set. Instructions had pictures that made it incredibly easy even for the most amateur of mechanics (such as myself). And it only took about 90 minutes to install. The performance gains from this product were immediately noticeable. From the first time you fire it up with the new CAI it has a nice purr that you don't get with the factory intake and it aesthetically looks better than the factory set up as well. Out on the road (what you really buy this product for) I saw immediate improvements in throttle response, smoother acceleration, some improvement in fuel economy, and more top end HP. I can't recommend this product enough, even if it cost twice what amazon is selling it for. ... show more

  • Good fit, easy install.
After returning another brand (cheaper) that just did not come close to fit properly, I pulled the plug and bought the K&N and you get what you paid for. The install was pretty easy and straight forward, took me about 1.5 hrs all in all. It also looks like it belongs in there, clears the oil filler cap and a minor adjustment to the oil dipstick made it clear the crossover tube nicely. Just a few cons but not enough to drop the 5 stars. The first is that the plastic weld joint of the tube could have been debuted a little better to help installing the rubber connectors plus it prevents scarring the rubber. The other is the rubber connector at the engine could have been a little wider as it need a little bend ( at least on my car) to ligne up properly, but it's minor. It would definitely recommend. 1997 Jeep Wrangler with in line 6, 4.0L. Performance review later. ... show more

  • Great but could be better
Not quite a factory fit on my 2004 TJ. The metal heat shield around the cone doesn't match up to the brackets on radiator shroud

  • Get this now but be careful....you might have fun with it.
I thought hard about spending this kind of money for an air filter but when a gift card opportunity presented itself, I finally ordered this kit for my 2004 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4.0 liter. The kit came exactly as advertised and one must sign for it so prepare to be home on the delivery date or wait for the UPS guy to come back at his convenience. The kit came on the 2nd visit (my fault) and I immediately turned to installation. Some advice: Read the instructions first with specific attention to the parts diagram. This will help you later when doubts may arise about which washers, nuts, and bolts go with what. I jumped right into it and found that I had to digress back to the diagram at the top of the first page. Frankly, I was a bit embarrassed since the device is very easily (and quickly) installed with minimal fuss. Here is the "be careful" part I mentioned. Once you install this, you WILL get more power and snap out of the previously somewhat lame motor, even if you had the OEM replacement K&N filter installed in the stock intake. This kit also sounds much cooler when you stomp on the accelerator. Before, the 4.0 California smog motor made all sorts of ridiculous noise but the Jeep really didn't go much of anywhere in a hurry. It goes in a hurry now and if you are not careful, your foot will be much more frequently in the gas pedal. In fact, I made a bad call in traffic this morning and turned out into on-coming before I should have. With the added snap and pop, I was able to get the Jeep up to safe speed before I caused a crash. So all in all, sounds cool, looks cool, gets up and goes. If you've been kicking this around in your head, go ahead and do it. Like me, you will probably kick yourself for the 70,000 or so miles that you did not have this. ... show more

  • Increased Horse Power and Throttle Response Immediately!
I have always used K&N Air Filter Products on my cars and Trucks. I have a 1990 Jeep YJ with a 4.0 EFI I-6 and 32" Tires and it was sluggish getting up to speed. The previous owner had a small spectre filter on the throttle body. I felt it was starving for air, so I decided to try the K&N. It took all of 30 minutes to install it. I backed out of the garage, took her for a ride, and could feel and hear the difference right away. Better throttle response, smooth idle, the sluggish jeep had come to life. It's hard to believe such a system can make that big a difference, especially without headers or a larger throttle body. These sell for nearly $250 other places after discount. I am a very informed shopper, and check multiple places before buying. I kept coming back to Amazon. I have not checked gas miliage, but I would bet, it will increase also, not alot, but maybe 1 to 2 MPG. Can't beat the price, buy it. Looks good under the hood too! ... show more

  • LOVE IT
Got this in two days after ordering. Perfectly packaged. Instructions were extremely easy to follow. Took me about an hour to install, mostly cause I really took my time. Sound: Slight difference but nothing major. I can hear a very low "Rrrrrrrooooommmmm" that i didnt hear before when I accelarate. Horse Power: It definetely give the jeep more power and accelaration. Gas Mileage: Slight difference, maybe a mile or two extra, depends on how you drive. Overall, i am very happy with this item, make my wrangler a bit more fun to drive now. OK: Update to gas mileage, it really doesnt do much for gas. My gas have been the same and even looks like it has gotten a little worse. I have gone on jeep forums and almost everyone there is against getting this. Do i regret it? YES, could have used the money and something else for my jeep that would actaully make it look cooler or perform better. ... show more
