I had a friend that planted the idea in my mind to get a CAI because he said it was getting him a good amount of power and mpgs. So I decided to give it a shot and buy one. Going off on a side note... If you know anything about how to increase power in your truck, (cut me some slack I learned most of this from the internet. And we all know how reliable it is. But it made logical sense to me) you put a cat back exhaust on with a high-flow muffler and then put a high-flow air intake on to get more air to your engine. The exhaust then allows all the extra air and fumes to be expelled with less backpressure (which everyone seems to think you need at least some backpressure but any sort of backpressure is actually BAD). Anyway, it all just means you can burn more fuel more efficiently if you so choose to. That's how it gives you extra power. So back to my truck... I put a cat back cherrybomb extreme muffler on my truck (a 2000 Ford ranger 4.0) and I saw an mpg difference of about 1mpg with my normal driving and around a 4-5 mpg difference highway. After putting the CAI on, nothing changed. The only difference I can tell is that my truck roars when I put the pedal to the floor. So for my truck, it made very little difference. However it could do more for a v8 or a performance engine. I personally love the K&N series and would recommend it to most. ... show more

I installed this in my Old 1999 Ford Eexploder Sport! thought i'd mess with the car before i buy a new one! the throttle response is a lot more growlier....i rev it up and the needle goes up and down...awesome i guess!

    • Take a deep breath
This will let the engine take all the air it wants, you will notice the new large air intake sound as your engine runs with its new lungs. Easy install with no problems. Design could have been better to allow less engine compartment air in and more fresh air.
