  • 2018 tundra
Style: Roto Molded
Good price

  • Works as advertised
Style: Roto Molded
Installed in my son's 2018 5.7 Tundra. Sounds better, little more power, improved gas mileage. My son and I installed it in about an hour, and we don't have much as far as mechanical skills - if you can work a ratchet and screwdriver you can install it.

  • clear and simple instructions
Style: Metal Intake
trust me, I am no mechanic. took about an hour to remove the old filter and add this one.

  • Very impressed
Style: Roto Molded
Very impressed with the immediate horsepower gains as advertised. I was a little intimidated at first with amount of parts and hardware but the very clear and detailed instructions made it a breeze. I wish I'd bought this sooner because my 2012 Tundra 5.7L should have sounded this good long ago. Everything fit perfectly with only a slight trimming of the heat shield gasket. Very impressed by the results for a small amount of labor. Excellent product 👌 ... show more

  • Want a DIY TRD CAI at half the price?
Style: 50 State Legal
I feel like this is a product that works best when combined with other mods. Assuming you want more exhaust tone, let's assume you have a catback of some sort. Most of us go with the TRD. But maybe you want more sound (both from the exhaust in the back and from the engine up front) and the TRD CAI costs too much at $400? In that case I think this is a perfect medium. If you look at the TRD CAI, it basically consists of straight tube from the stock airbox to your throttle body, an air filter, a less restrictive scoop in the fender well, and a pretty red TRD top for the airbox. The rest... is identical to your existing CAI in your truck. A tall price to pay, huh? While I will admit that since the upper red part of the TRD CAI is slightly taller than the stock one, it may (in theory) supply more air at a moment's notice... but odds are those types of gains are only noticable on a dyno and will be in the single digit numbers at a very specific RPM at best. So why get this product? Okay, you got the TRD Cat back but you want just a little more. I recommend pairing this product with TRD Part #: PTR0334079, the "TRD Flow Accelerator" which basically opens up a wider opening in your fender to allow more air into the airbox. If you purchase this K&N product without that part, the K&N can only do as much work as it can with the air that it is given. So give it more air! You're buying this because you want better sound, and that extra $15 I believe is how you get it. You can purchase it as a replacement part for less than $15 and have 1/3 of the $400 TRD CAI. As for the air filter... yes, this K&N kit does come with an air filter that allows for higher airflow than stock but if you put it on a dyno... again, you won't notice a significant difference. But from the reading I've done, the K&N air filters achieve higher flow in part due to allowing more junk to pass through their filter. So if you really wanna do a TRD CAI on the cheap, throw a TRD filter in your airbox along with this K&N tube. You'll get that sound to compliment your exhaust... but at a fraction of the price of the TRD version, while maintaining a high level of filtration. Don't worry, you can still paint the stock airbox lid red if you wish. Pros: - TRD CAI at a fraction of the price - Uses stock airbox, just like the $400 TRD model Cons: - K&N filter doesn't filter as much as the OEM Toyota filter or the TRD Filter... but that's a cheap fix. Just use this with a TRD filter. - Would it kill K&N to give us a red coupling to connect to the airbox with? It would totally help justify the pricetag, while minimizing costs on their end. The TRD one is red and pretty, this one is black and black. Both achieve the same result... but the $400 TRD one is red. K&N could totally steal sales from TRD by making parts of this kit pretty too. Do any of us feel good after spending $200+ on a plastic tube? At least pretty it up pls. Other: - Works best with AT LEAST the TRD Flow Accelerator, which is just $15. For max effect pair it with a proper catback exhaust. On stock Tundra, don't expect much. You're replacing cheap parts with cheap parts. You get what you pay for. But combine this with a decent exhaust... you just saved $200 versus the TRD model and achieved virtually the same result. ... show more

  • Makes her purr much nicer!!!
Style: Roto Molded
Love it! Install took roughly an hour. The hardest part was rounding up all the tools if you don't have very many variations of the "screwdriver." The filter came with a detailed diagram instruction packet and fits snug and perfect. After the install, I noticed the engine purr much nicer. I haven't seen a gas mileage effect just yet because the product was just installed and I've been pushing the truck slightly more that I normally do to listen to the sound. So far a great purchase for the truck and I would definitely do it over again if the truck needed another filter... but because it's a K&N, you'll never need another one!!! For anyone who needs assistance, I found a video on YouTube from K&N showing install process. It's really not hard at all and believe me, it makes the truck sound amazing from the front end. PROS: Great sounding growl from motor Not too hard to install Looks amazing under the hood without being too flashy Makes driving a little more fun CONS: Did not see a MPG increase Squeals at roughly 2,000 RPM Photos on instructions hard to see ... show more

  • Excellent quality, superb price, too many parts to put together.
Style: Roto Molded
This is definitely a superior product compared to all other similar products on the internet, that is why it is truly surprising to order a K/N air cleaner which is the best on the market. But to my complete utter amazement they tried to save money on labor and or shipping by sending the K/Nair cleaner with a huge bag of screws, bolts and washers to put it all together. Ladies/and Gentlemen I don't know who's idea was to send your product out to the customers in the way you did but I can promise you nobody wants to put something together with so many parts. Its bad enough that we have to take things apart to install the item(K/N air filter) but on top of that you think customers want to lose a few hours reading directions on first putting the item together. I'm so sure this policy has chased many customers away from ordering. Please resolve this and me along with 20 other mechanics im associated with will once again start ordering from you guys.Thank Youexce ... show more
