I needed a suitable helm for my pirate ship sandbox project. This one did very nicely. The nubs are just big enough to give the impression of a ships helm but not long enough to catch on anything or poke anybody's eye. The package came with 4 items: The plastic wheel, a 3" Nickle-plated Lag Screw, a washer and a little yellow cap to cover the lag screw in the center of the wheel. I am a little concerned about the strength of the plastic at the center of the wheel. If this breaks, that is the weak point. I wanted to attach it snugly yet still have it able to be rotated but with some resistance, so it's not going to spin. I added a wide flat washer to the post side of the wheel to give it a little bit of clearance. That seemed to do the trick. I probably should have replaced the washer that came with this product and gone up a little on the outer diameter of the washer so that the washer covered the entire flat area of the mounting hole to give it more resistance from getting torn off if someone pulls themselves up using the wheel. Overall, great pirate ship helm to add the perfect finishing touch to the pirate ship sandbox.

Inexpensive and super easy to install and my kids love it. It’s not a huge wheel in diameter but for our playhouse it fits perfect and goes with the look we have. Kids all loving it both ours and the neighbors and using their imaginations with it.

Not too bad for the money. Kinda disappointed the the screw to connect to playset is poor. As kids were able to pull it free easily….required washer and better design to reattach.
