Small unit charges fast, retains charge for months and quickly powers up the 12v battery in my EVs. First one has had 3 instances where 12v battery was drained, apparently while attempting over the air upgrades. First time, tow truck operator arrived, popped some plastic covers in trunk and that allowed the big 100+kwh battery to wake up. Bought this unit and have now used twice, successfully. When my second EV arrived last month, decided i needed identical unit for it. Hoping to never need it!!

Everyone wants one now! My nephew was attempting to jump off his brother in law's truck by use of jumper cables. I jokingly said he ought to try the new little starter box I have been waiting to try. He accepted my invitation and on the second turn of the ignition .... the truck started. I was sold thar very moment and so were the 8 people who were standing around. This little box is amazing. I've since used it to charge my phone, run a space heater in a power outage and light a dark room while dressing. I am sold on this one. Christmas presents for all next year.

Product: Hengke Energy H9 "12V Jump Starters Battery Pack ...20000mAh" Seller: BOOKOO 2023/06/25 Update: TL;DR: Perhaps they have quality control issues, but the new unit sent to me with the sole purpose of having this review updated still has the same issue as the unit I had to return so long ago - although improved, the measured capacity of ~12Ah is still far below the stated capacity of 20Ah. So, it looks like the seller is trying to be honest and seems to care about what buyers think - they've been reaching out to me to have me re-assess and sent me a replacement to base my updated review on. I figured at worse, they fudged the shipment so that the version I receive would have capacity that measured at or above stated claim of 20Ah. Unfortunately they do not. From the way their message was worded, Bookoo is the name of the manufacture (although you won't find that branding anywhere on the product) so Bookoo = Hengke Energy? If they are really the one and the same and they are trying to sell a good product, they need way better QC (they don't even need to be manned - I'm pretty sure you can get an automated system that measures the capacities of the battery to ensure they are up to spec before being boxed for customer purchase). The unit seemed identical to the unit I had purchased (and returned) before except that it was a bit heavier. It came 75%+ charged (3/4 lights) so I charged it to 100% before testing. Afterwards I measured the capacity to be 11971 mAh. Since the seller sent the unit for me to keep this time, I'll try discharge/charging it a few times and test again but that shouldn't really be needed - you buy a battery from any reputable seller/manuf and the capacity you get will almost always be at or exceed the stated capacity (eg, Amazon Basic, Duracell, Eneloops, etc). Also, as another potential customer had indicated in the questions section - the Hengke Energy website states the product was supposed to be 12Ah (much closer to the measurement). Although the response from BooKoo was that the H9 is an "updated model," perhaps only the outer casing was updated with stated capacity and they forgot to update the internal batteries? Anyways, it's possible that BooKoo is not trying to be dishonest, but this power bank's capacity is far below what is stated. While the other features on the unit make it stand out, the inaccurate stated capacity is enough to make me recommend you get something else. This is a device you get in case of emergencies and If you can't trust it on the capacity, how can you be sure about other aspects (like it retaining a charge in the trunk of your car until you need it to jump)? I still find it odd that they would send me a unit that would fail such a simple test - were they that confident in their product? I'll update this review again if after 3-4 cycles the battery somehow miraculously doubles in capacity (or at least measures closer to 20Ah). I don't think it'll be likely though - I've seen 20% increases but never anything near 66%. --- Original Review: --- TL;DR: The extra features of this unit are great, it seems durable, looks good, and if that was all there is to it, I would have given it 5 stars, but the manufacture's fraudulent claim that the power bank's capacity of 20Ah is a minus 5 star - tested the unit after 3 charge cycles and it is rated at 6582mAh. So after buying several other cheap (sub $100) power banks that could both jump start a vehicle and support 65W PD (power delivery) and finding their claims as to the capacity completely false, I gave up and returned all of them. My goal was now to get the cheapest unit that could jump start a vehicle. If it also supports fast charging phones (Qualcom QC3, etc) then that is simply a bonus, and I would have to depend on other, more reputable power banks for the other normal uses that one has for these devices. So, after searching Amazon for a bit, found this one for $37. Unit features some handy lights and a fairly strong magnet for attaching it to a roof of a hood and the wireless phone charge capabilities. You can check out the other reviews regarding the lights - it's fairly good. I also appreciate that it comes with a dedicated on/off switch (not button) for the battery, minimizing the risk of accidentally draining the battery - after you turn on the switch, you do have to also press another power button to activate it. It also comes with a nice case and the ability to provide power 12V DC power over via a car cigarette lighter female socket. So given all these features and the fact that it was one of the cheapest jump starters at the end of October 2022 it deserves a 5 star rating, but why the 1 star?? False claims of capacity. The unit is rated at 20000mAh so when I found out that I could only charge my phone about two times before it drained the power bank, I was like huh? My cell has at most a 3Ah battery (when new, so probably more like 2Ah now) so that would mean the bank only had a capacity of around 6Ah. Amazon sells battery testers as well, and for less than $12, I purchased one from seller AVHzY store and tested the power bank. It rated it at 6582mAh. Also, found out that when working at max load, the voltage dipped... but maybe it's tester inaccuracy - will let other more knowledgeable folks determine that (see pics). I just want to state it again - I hope the manufactures/sellers read this: If the manufacture had labeled this a 6000mAh jump start unit, I would still have purchased given my goals and because they were honest, I would have given it 5 stars. Maybe this one is a dud? If I do an exchange (who knows, bf/cm around the corner - maybe better sale) to see if the replacement also has the same issue I'll update review.
