I wanted an easy to use second machine when quilting so I didn't have to change the thread on my primary machine all the time. Since then, the primary Singer broke down and now this is the only sewing machine for me to use. This machine is handy, easy to use, easy to thread and sews a nice, straight stitch. When sewing stretchy, knit fabrics, it does not skip stitches. The instructions are easy to understand, the dials for stitch size and zig-zag and reverse are easy and convenient. The foot pedal makes the speed easy to control. It comes with a button hole maker, but I haven't used it. The little triangle screwdriver is awkward to use. Purchased this machine for my daughter as a gift she wanted to learn to use a sewing machine. We sat and reviewed how to use it very easy to thread and use. I now like this sewing machine more then the one I own and purchased elsewhere for my self. Great machine for beginners.

This machine is great. It is quiet and the settings are easy to understand. It has several stitch options with buttonhole stitch included. However, the machine is not ideal for sewing fleece. The fleece particles get caught in the machine , causing it to be noisy and thread breaks. If you sew fleece, your project may take twice as long and you would need to purchase a lint brush to clear internal fleece particles. But overall, the machine works well. ... show more

I've been sewing for 40+ years, and I own several machines including a serger, a computerized Janome, and now this sweet little machine. I bought it to use for repairs and small sewing projects at my partner's home, because I didn't want to drag my machine back and forth. I've already used it for several projects and am impressed with its sturdiness and ease of operation. It sews well and has a nice variety of stitches. It's definitely a keeper. I’ve worked with a number of machines, this is a good quality basic machine. I’ve really enjoyed working on it for my projects, it’s proven to be a good design. It’s easy to understand the function and work with. It’s not too heavy and is a nice size.

I was desperate for a sewing machine now, with a very limited budget. I know Janome is a good brand, so I thought I'd take a chance on it. Especially because I could buy it with 3 payments. It arrived in 2 days. I threaded it and had a problem that I was able to resolve. It doesn't seem to like cotton thread. It kept breaking. I changed the thread to polyester thread, which I have plenty of, and it sews beautiful! I have been able to sew for hours with no issues until my bobbin runs out, lol! I did find the light too dim, so I purchased this light strip and resolved that issue. I'm ecstatic with my little sewing machine. I don't need anything but a straight stitch for quilting.
