I got this for travel to a weekly quilting group. It’s a good machine for the price. Lightweight, easy to use. Only issue I had was directions do not show how to add attachment for large spool of thread. Took me forever to figure it out! Would recommend for beginners or as a travel machine. This machine answered my needs completely. Lightweight and fairly easy to use, once you read the instructions and learn parts. I was originally disappointed to find there was no cover included and tried to find some way of keeping the machine clean when not in use. I did finally discover that there is a tote for the machine made by Janome which is available on Amazon. The tote is terrific and I don't know why I had to have such a hard time looking for something to keep the machine clean. I purchased this machine for a class I wanted to teach in the summer for kiddos 12 and under. These kids have never been exposed to sewing before and were really excited to learn. There were making simple patch work pillows. I have a Janome quilters companion and I love it. When using this machine we had to stop and fix the thread many times. Two threads would come out of the bobbin area, and then it would unthread, just pop off and you're sewing nothing. lol If you're a beginner pay a little more for a machine save frustration. I am an experienced sewer but we are going on a 3 month road trip and I wanted a sewing machine that I could take along with me that 1) wasn't computerized (because of rough terrain) 2) inexpensive and 3) compatible with my other more expensive Janome machines. I've had it for two weeks now and I'm delighted with it. Even though it is light weight, it doesn't move around the table when I'm sewing. It's solid. And it has enough variety of stitches for the type of sewing I'll be doing on the trip. the only difficulties I'm having are 1) changing the foot as it just will not slip into position and 2) trying to get a response from Janome for support or even to register machine are impossible as the website continues to be unresponsive..
