  • Absolute junk
I have a powered scan tool, many in fact. The problem with this adaptor is that it only has 2 functional pins. #1 is pin 16 which is the 12v+ power supply, which obd1 was not designed to supply. The seller confused a 12v data line for a 12v power supply. The difference is amps. This adaptor is also missing a ground line, which is ok for OBD1 but it won't power your armature scanners. This is why.. If you used a proper ground, the scanner pulling 12v+ from a data pin could fry your expensive ECM. The second pin is a common K data line, and it's ok. This adaptor is 2 wires, rubber, plastic, and junk. It won't work with or without a powered scanner unless it was deigned to push a 12v ground. Also, draining a 12v positive from your battery and a 12v negative from your scanner is a quick way to destroy them both. ... show more

  • Do not buy if your scanner does not have its own power bank
I was looking for an adapter for my OBD2 code reader. To make it an OBD1 code reader. I came across this adapter that turns a 16 prong into a 12 prong. They said it would work for anything before 1996 as far as Chevrolet GMC. Everything plugged in and connected correctly but could not get power to the scanner with the adapter on. So I took the adapter off and hope the OBD2 scanner to my 2018 Kia to see if it worked and it powered up as soon as I plugged it in. Not sure why they adapter won't allow power to scanner it's too bad ... show more

  • No Power Source from OBDII scanners
Guys, be warned. Product should make it clearer that OBD I does not supply a power pin like OBDII does. This begs the question, why have an adapter that would connect an OBDII scanner which is normally powered via the connector pins to and older OBDI scanner with no power without an auxiliary supply? Not cool for people who might not know this and simply want to pull some codes. Problem: most, if not all OBDII scanners don’t have an input for an additional power source as they normally power on through the connector, which would make it redundant to have another power source. Therefore how exactly should this cable be used???? ... show more

  • Should it work ?
It DID NOT work to interface a 94' Buick Roadmaster to a Harbor Freight ZURICH ZR11 tester. Tested pin to pin with ohm meter and the adapter matched the insert. Oh well, just curious if it would. The car, a V-8 ramming ship, runs grate. Move over this Cad-alike is coming through!

  • Nope sending back. Useless .
Does NOT work... Seller needs to be more honest about the items they are selling.. You can not use this with any readers.. Its not capable of doing what they are claiming.... Please do not waste your time or money if your looking to read your vehical codes this will not help...

  • Not a pin to pin connector
This cable is not a pin for pin cable many of the pins are not connected. So if you scanner does not have external power this cable does not connect the power back the the correct OBD II pin to power the scanner

  • Useless unless you have a specific tool
I'd only buy this if you were replacing one. This does nothing with either of my scan tools so I can't tell if it works. The build quality seems good.

  • Completely useless - no connection to pin B
This only connects pins A, M and G. Without a connection to pin B or a 10k resistor between A and B, you'll never get anything out on pin M.
