Our bedroom did not originally have sconces but we wanted to install some with our remodel. We were willing to hardwire them but didn’t want to install a wall switch too because we aren’t electricians! These come with a on/off directly ON the lamp, which was the perfect solution for us. We bought and installed the khaki color, but there are so many pretty colors to choose from! I love the gold embellishment’s, and they look great with the Edison bulbs. This is an OK light fixture for the price. I purchased these in Grey color. Pros: 1: Hardwired and not corded 2: Has its own switch so can be wired with or without a wall switch 3: Heavy duty UL listed Lamp holder. 4: Braided Cord is adjustable so it can be completely hidden if your not wanting to have exposed braided cord. Cons: 1:Wire holder is pretty fragile and impossible to release without breaking it after it has been fastened. 2: Shade and paint are kind of cheap looking. Very thin metal. The paint job not the best. It would look better in a hammered style paint to offset the cheap looking shade. 3: When wire is pulled all the way in so there is no wire showing, the holder that holds the bulb does not stay stable and hang perfectly straight. They would have been better of having a recessed socket on the J-arm so the bulb holder stays stationary. 4: Made in China Plan on installing these in an off-grid cabin so I tested both the ones that were purchased and they both function properly. I wired them up to a 12VDC solar system with 12VDC LED filament style bulbs so the lamps look better with this type of bulb as it gives it a more retro look. ... show more

These look dang adorable in my girls' room that we are remodeling. I put one over each bed, and I'm adding art between the light and the bed. I bought the khaki color and spray painted them blue using Pale Sage. I love how they turned out.

These are not as well made as others have been claiming. Paint (I ordered Grey) looks as if it can be easily scratched. I spray painted the shade and back cover with a matte clearcoat because they are going into the kitchen where a lot of grease and stuff can gum them up. Cheapie brass bulb base must be an inexpensive metal--the threaded rings to hold the shade to the neck are very lightweight. The mechanism to turn the sconce on/off is not smooth and makes a cheap click when turning. Mine will be controlled by a wall switch, so I will leave them turned on. I'm showing 3 pics. One is how the light is dispersed from this sconce as opposed to my old sconce. They need to be placed high up in a task area like a kitchen because of the way the light disperses--like a gooseneck fixture. Mine are for the sink area. I have a 60W "Reveal" bulb installed and it is too bright for my eyes. I don't like the clear light bulbs. They hurt my eyes. I will be replacing the bulbs with 40W. I chose to NOT expose the wires as they are represented on Amazon's site. These will be a temporary solution in our kitchen for sure. ... show more
