This did not work on the wood I tried it on. It got stick in the wood and twisted the drill, hurting my wrist. Tried it on different pieces with the same result.

    • Dangerous!!
This product doesn't work ! A small drill doesn't have enough power, and a large enough drill to split wood will spin the log into your leg, or spin the drill injuring your arm. Unfortunately I did both before giving up. Also tried a impact driver.... It was also a fail!

Hmmmm, I'm torn. I think this would work better on wood that has been cut for a while. You can't reverse it, so I was trying to split some 16inch long by 4 inch wide fresh cut cherry and it kept drilling itself down into the wood and not splitting it. I guess it is more for dry wood.

    • secure that log.
be careful when using. alrhough it showed it being powered by a cordless hand drill its not that easy. worked great for small stuff going from middle but bigger ones not so much. i used a real low geared proffesional drill with a 2 ft bar that screws in for leverage and the log just turned on me as i could'nt hold both. i will say i was suprised that small stem held and didnt snap with all the torque i put on it, but it held rock solid. maybe one i figure out how to secure the log from turning it wil be more effective.still gets 5 stars for its toughness and price. ... show more

    • Waist of dollar bills......smh. unsafe, gets stuck, not a good product.
I would advise a maul over this product any day and I'm only 113 lbs.......this product is no good.

    • Great kindling maker

I sawed off the slats from two pallets and made two years worth of fireplace kindling. Prop it up and use you foot to hold down the end away from the split. The auger point did wear down, now requires more pressure to get it to grab. Hence the 4 star.
