I purchased this for us in my new kitchen. I have all stainless steel appliances, so the appearance matches well. I have been pleased. It is nicely constructed. I like the removable insert. The lid also works very easily. I did initially find it hard to hold the lid open. However, after an email to the vendor, they explained that one needs to lift up on the lid as it is coming up, before it reaches past about 30-60 degrees open. Then one can pull it back to stay open very easily. If you use the foot pedal to fully open the lid, and then try to push it back to stay, it is very difficult. It comes with an odor-reducing filter which I suppose helps but is hard for me to judge. I have not noticed any odors with the lid closed. All in all, this is a very good product that looks good and functions well. I prefer to use larger trash bags that do not stretch tight around the insert. There is a little clearance around the edge of the insert for the top of the bag to fold over and down for a neat fit. However, I initially had problems getting the edge of the bag to stay put while I lowered the insert into the can. I easily solved this by getting some larger rubber bands. I now fold the top of the bag around the top of the insert, and wrap it with a large rubber band. This holds it in place as I lower the insert. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an attractive, well made garbage can. ... show more

I love this trash can. I’ve had it for 6+ months and it still makes me smile. I had a cheap, plastic, ugly trash can I purchased from Target years ago that I wanted to replace for the longest time, but couldn’t wrap my mind around spending almost $90 on a fricking trash can. However, this trash can was worth every penny and I would spend even more money for this trash can if needed. Pros - everything. Looks great and works even better. The minimalistic, sleek, smudge-proof design makes storing trash sexy. The step pedal requires very little force, and the lid opens quickly but with restraint. No lid snapping open and striking your walls happening here. There is an inner plastic lining that is removable, making trash bag removal and changing easy. There is a little notch where you slide a small portion of the trash bag into to keep it from slipping and it does just that - no slippage of your trash bag. No reaching down into the doom and gloom of strange odors and textures to wrangle the topmost edge of the bag free when it slips down. The bag ALWAYS stays put. And the trash can blocks odors!!! My kitchen never smells from the trash, even if it’s spoiled food. Cons - nothing. Worth every single penny. I would sell my plasma if needed to get this trash can again. I realize I am now fully adulting to be gushing over something like a trash can, but this was one of my best purchases for the entire year. You will love this trash can. ... show more

Replaced a 10 year old step trash bin that finally gave out with this beauty and couldn't be happier! I was very wary to have to shell out so much for a kitchen trash can, but I took advantage of a 'Used' one that gave me a $21 discount from the original price of $99.00, so I thought, "why not?". I'm so happy I had! Unlike my former 'round' step trash bin, this one is manufactured to utilize the entire bag (regular tall kitchen, 13 Gallon trash bags from GLAD) so longer time in between placing a 'full' bag of trash and less waste of tall kitchen trash bags. The 'Tuck and Hold' bag retention hole isn't necessary with a 13 Gallon bag, only good for larger than 13 gallon bags. The soft close is ideal, and I love the option of pushing the lid a little back to keep it open until I decide to close it. Also, the :iTouchless Active Carbon Filter Refill Pack (3-pack)is a nice touch (although I use Febreze lavender scented trash bags) but I find these carbon filters pricey at $20 for three, each only lasting 3 months. Still, ours came with 1 free carbon filter to try it out and it works really well--so well that it even eliminates the lavender scent of our bags! But all in all, fast delivery and an easy 5-Stars, and yes I would definitely recommend to a friend! It's worth every penny! ... show more

    • Great Trash Can - Damper wore out though

We bought this item in 2018. Since that time, they changed the design slightly, by increasing the diameter of the air damper that causes the lid to close slowly. As a result, there are no spare parts that fit our 2018 can. It was a little disappointing because one of the advertisements on the product page was that the parts could be replaced so it would always feel like new... and also that the lid would close softly 200,000 times. I ordered a replacement air damper for $15, and then contacted iTouchless to explain that the diameter of the damper seems to have changed since the version I own, and unfortunately the parts are not backward compatible since they do not fit. I would still recommend the trashcan because it is the right size and shape to fit lots of garbage without taking up too much space. The round cans are terrible because they fill up more quickly so you need to empty very often. For apartment dwellers with a garbage chute: I guess one small negative consideration is that rectangular bins result in a rectangular shaped mass of garbage. If you have a trash chute in an apartment building, you might find it is easier to deposit garbage from a round bin into the trash chute. This is my situation, but i still am able to make it work, and like the high capacity of the bin. ... show more

I actually bought this as a Christmas present for someone (lol) since I pretty much hated his old trash can. Luckily, he loves it, and so do I. He said he didn't even know he needed an upgrade until he got this one. It has a slim profile, but is big enough to use a tall kitchen bag (full to the brim). It's very easy to change the bags--the inner lining pops in and out effortlessly for bag insertion/removal. You don't need to touch anything with your hand to open the trash can--just use the pedal. The lid on the particular one we got doesn't seem to stay open--you're supposed to be able to push on it and have it remain in the open position until you pull it back to close again. That doesn't work, but it hasn't been a big deal--we just keep a foot on the pedal to hold it open as long as needed. I'm not sure I'd like to use my hand anyway. No smells escape the trash can when the lid is closed, which is terrific. You can use an insertable air freshener with this, but I really don't think it's necessary. It's easy to keep clean. As noted, it has a plastic inner liner. If something spills on it, it's easy to clean up. For something really nasty, it can be hosed down outside even. The outside also wipes down easily and doesn't show marks so it always looks clean and nice. Very hygienic. It may not have been the "sexiest" Christmas present, but it was still a winner. :-) ... show more

At first I found it a bit high priced for “just a trash can” that goes in the kitchen. $100 for an indoor trash can? But I must say, I’m glad I made the purchase. The step lever works flawlessly, doesn’t feel like it ‘clicks’ or plastic parts are about to break. Installing a new bag is a breeze because under the lid, there is also a frame that lifts up, allowing you to put a new bag in, and ‘pinching’ it in place when you lower that frame. Bad smells stay locked in thanks to the lid and a scent absorbing pad. If you have been on the fence because of the price, don’t, the moment you receive it you will thank me. ... show more
