  • No fuss lightweight steam iron
I'm already loving this Mafilise steam iron. It's lightweight, simple to operate and gets to business right away. I steam ironed a brand new out of the bag shower curtain while it was hanging. You can see the before and after photos above. The curtain is 100% polyester and did not scorch. I had hold the fabric taut and glide the iron right over the wrinkles as just the steam alone didn't remove the them. It was so quick and easy. I used water from my Zero water pitcher to fill up the tank as I wanted to make sure not to shorten the life span of this appliance by using mineralized tap water. I can rest the iron down at an angle without the hot plate touching anything. The only thing perplexing is the included brush. I couldn't find anything in the guide or the ad page explaining it's use. Maybe it's for delicate fabric so that the iron plate doesn't come in contact with it? For now, it's an annoying extra piece that I don't know what to do with. Oh well, I still recommend. ... show more

  • Wrinkle Releaser in a Pinch
This item arrived in a handle box containing the hand held steamer iron with a brush attachment, and a small opaque water cup that holds 3.4 ounces. The bristle attachment states "hair brush" which I guess is used to brush hair off? The unit is about 16 inches long and the plate is about 5.5 x 3.5 inches; cord is over 8 feet long. The instructions for operation were harder to locate on the inclosed pamphlet which was more focused on safety. The print is very small so I had to use a magnifying glass to be able to view it. Why not make the pamphlet a little larger so the font could be bigger. Many of the instructions were sort of confusing as well but I got the gist of it. The water tank holds 5.7 ounces and the cup provided holds 3.4 so it would be better if the cup was at least what the tank holds because once you have it in your hand it would be better to fill it in one step instead of two. It states best to use distilled water so that's a big negative; I prefer an appliance that takes tap. I boiled some water and cooled to use as a substitute. I plugged in the unit and then realized I could not set it down. Within 45 seconds the light on the handle went from red to blue, so I assumed it was ready. I didn't smell an odor. I only noticed a steady steam overall with lever pressed and an even smaller steady steam when releasing the lever. No big burst in my opinion. The water was all gone in about 7 minutes (I had only put in about 3.5 ounces). Wrinkles in a new athletic top were still there. Filled again and then went over it again with slight improvement. A rayon top had slightly better results. I just kept a check on the tank to be able to tell when it was out of steam plus it made a weird sound which caused me to check the tank. So, four tops was all I could do on almost two tanks with slight improvement but I did go over each item multiple times. Then I had to find a surface that I could place the unit on to cool off. I had a floor steam unit at one time with a hand held hose and a big tank and I had this same type of result; nothing compares to an steam iron with a board. I think this will be fine for one-two items prior to wearing to release some wrinkles, even though I could do that will my force steam Rowena, but, it's too heavy so this unit is a better alternative because it is much lighter and will be a good substitute instead of having to put up a board and using my steam iron. This should come with something to place it on while adjusting the item you're treating because my arms got tired. It's an ok unit for me and I would give it 3.5 stars. ... show more

  • Not ideal
As an iron this is great at high temps- it works very well on high temperature fabrics but would be disastrous on delicate fabrics. It has no temperature controls! The amount of ironing steam is very nice. The pointed tip good for getting into corners and edges well. It is more maneuverable than a regular shaped iron but the handle is quite awkward and not very ergonomically designed. As a steamer it is still only just okay. It give a great amount of steam but even with the steamer attachment you run the risk of the hot iron plate coming in contact with delicate fabrics. If you struggle with space and can be very careful or only use it for cottons etc this would be a good solution. Otherwise an iron and separate steamer are still better. ... show more

  • Ironing Woes and Steaming Wonders
This iron functions terribly, but it serves as a fantastic steamer with ironing capabilities. Lacking both an on/off switch and temperature control, it poses several limitations. The iron plate is small, and while the handle is lengthy, it still occupies considerable space. Due to its size, it struggles to effectively iron, requiring more time to cover a garment fully. Moreover, it tends to ripple the fabric when ironing and leaves behind unsightly marks. Conversely, the steaming function performs admirably; the steam is strong and can efficiently remove wrinkles. However, the steam button frequently pops up, halting the steam flow. I suspect it may be overheating, triggering an automatic shutdown. Overall, despite its shortcomings as an iron, it excels as a steamer. Using the iron to touch up areas like sleeves, cuffs, and collars makes sense, as the steamer cannot straighten out wrinkles effectively in these areas. ... show more
