  • An excellent iron for quilters
Color: Yellow
Yes, it's expensive, but the benefits, for me anyway, outweigh the cost. A number of features are attractive. The way it elevates itself when not being touched maintains the heat on the plate but does not scorch the ironing surface. Furthermore, it is much easier to just let go of it in a horizontal position, and to us it again, then it is to turn it up on the end. It holds a very large capacity of water alleviating the inconvenience of frequent refills. This iron is very hot. Ironing our various bolt wrinkles, and especially the mid-fold crease is easy and quick. I recommend this tool for any experienced quilter. Just a note on the silicone holder. It will not withstand heat even after unplugging. The iron has to be completely cool before hanging the iron on the wall. It's handy for wall storage when not in use, but the iron will dislodge if not fully cooled. ... show more

  • BEST IRON FOR SEWING
Color: Yellow
I sew bags, purses, and clothes. A dependable hot steam iron is an absolute necessity. For my last iron, I had a great little cordless iron. Only problem is it wouldn't get or stay quite hot enough, even though it had plenty of steam. My new Oliso in sunny yellow (yay!) gets REALLY hot. Hot enough to use on 100% cotton and actually get all the wrinkles out. It also has plenty of steam. I have noticed that it steams better when I keep the water filled close to the maximum level marked conveniently on the iron, so I keep it pretty full. I like the little filling cup it came with. I keep a gallon jug of tap water in my sewing room and pour it into the filling cup, which makes it super easy to get it into the iron with no spills. I live where the water is fairly hard, but tap water works great in this iron. I have occasionally seen it "spit" out little tiny pieces of what I assume is calcium from the hard water, but that is rare, and easily brushed off. Most irons I've ever owned have done this. One very good thing is that it NEVER leaks. I was lucky to get it at 20% off during Amazon days, but I would have bought it at full price if I had to. It works really well and I am glad I have it. Oh - almost forgot the best feature! I LOVE how it goes up and down at just a touch of my hand! If I'm ironing and have to stop, I can just let go of it and it rises up off of the fabric. No scorching, ever! And talk about convenience! When I take it off whatever I'm ironing, I just slide it to one side and let go. I don't have to lift it up and set it on its heel (although it will sit on its heel if you want it to). This is the best iron I've ever owned and I would recommend it to anyone. ... show more

  • Beautiful iron.
Color: Turquoise
Great iron until it stopped working after 4 months. It wouldn't turn on at all. I called and emailed the dealer and they swiftly sent me out a replacement iron in just a few days with no cost on either end. I love this Oliso iron and am so glad to have a new one. I highly recommend this company, even if things weren't perfect, they resolved it. Thank you Oliso and Ryan for all of you help!! ... show more

  • Hotter than any other iron I've had in years, works so well!
Color: Yellow
I just got it today and tried it out on some random, extra quilt blocks I had lying around - it gets so much hotter than my Rowenta and it has a really nice weight to it that actually gets rid of creases and wrinkles without adding a ton of water/starch/best press or pushing down really firmly. The pop up and down feature is going to take a tiny bit of getting used to, I find I have to move just a smidge slower when I grab it to iron, before pressing it onto the fabric. I'm a pretty high-strung person so I move quickly, but I know once I adjust it will become second nature to give the feet time to compress back into the iron. Totally worth the adjustment needed, all other irons I've tried in the last 20+ years haven't gotten hot enough and it takes forever to get anything ironed with them. I am so happy I finally purchased it and was really nice to get 20% off for Black Friday! ... show more

  • Best iron I’ve had
Color: Turquoise
Yes this is an expensive iron and I waited years until I bought one. I wish I hadn’t waited so long! Excellent pressing heat and steam, especially if you are a sewer. But it is awesome even for pressing clothing.

  • Received used, non-functional iron
Color: Turquoise
The box I received looked great, until I opened it. It was pretty clear the iron had already been used, with some of the internal packing components torn or missing. The iron also had dirty smudges on it, and some water left in it's tank. It would not turn on when plugged in. I'm trying to exchange it for a new one, I'll update this review when I receive it. EDIT - I got the replacement iron, and it is lovely! I use it for quilting, and it works great. I particularly love the large opening and funnel for refilling the water tank. So much nicer than my old iron! ADDITIONAL EDIT - Okay, I've now had and used this iron for about 4 months. I'm no longer so impressed. The auto-lift function started acting up and being unreliable some 6 weeks ago. Now it pretty much just never works. So I always have to sit the iron on it's side. This iron also spits/leaks water on my fabric just as often as every other iron I've ever had. That being said, I do still like how quickly it heats and the size and ease of filling the water tank is nicer than any other iron I've owned. But personally I won't ever buy this brand again. Way too expensive for the main feature on it to stop working after only a couple months. ... show more

  • Multi-purpose Oliso SmartIron with Auto Lift
Color: Pink
This expensive "Oliso TG1600 Pro Plus 1800 Watt SmartIron with Auto Lift" is worth the money if you do a lot of ironing and pressing (i.e. quilting). Once I got accustomed to the lift feature, it became easy to wait a split second for the base to lift. I like it so much that I take it to all my quilting bees and retreats. With the carrying case and silicone mat, there is no need to buy a smaller travel iron. ... show more

  • Love it until I didn’t
Color: Yellow
Bought the iron just at ten months ago. Was so excited to get it. I’d used one in a quilting class I was taking so was pumped to have it at home, too. Heats up incredibly! Love the auto lift and shut off so it’s not just on heat all the time. But I am so disappointed that ten months and it just stopped working. I’ve reached out to Oliso directly. Ten months for an expensive iron doesn’t seem to be a good longevity of their product for sure! ... show more
