    • It works. Don't smash the shutters.
This fan was a decent enough price. Moves good amount of air. It will change all the air in a 6x8 greenhouse once every couple of minutes, which is what you want. I have heard some people claiming the shutters wouldn't open...if this is because their fan wasn't turning on to blow the shutters open, they don't have enough power to the fan. If the fan DOES kick on and the shutters won't open, it is because they smashed or bent the shutters. BE CAREFUL. ... show more

    • Works as expected.
I did not install this unit as a Gable mounted fan. I have 2 convection roof vents installed on the roof surface and wanted to have positive air displacement and not just convection. I framed in the areas below these vents and installed two of these automatic Louver fans in those frames. I wired both fans on a single thermostat to operate at 90 degrees or higher and they work perfectly. Because of the angle the fans are on the louvers do not open as much as I wish they would but I have seen a 10 degree drop in the temperature in my attic. The louvers will work well to keep insects and other unwanted critters out of the attic. They also act as a seal for winter operation when venting of the attic can facilitate extra heat loss and higher energy usage for heating. ... show more

I bought this fan in March, 2020. It died in April, 2022. I guess two years is ok, but I would have thought it would last at least 4 or 5 years the way it's described in their ad. It's installed in a 12' x 24' x 8' metal storage building, in central Florida. It does get really hot (100+ degrees) inside the building with no ventilation, but since the building is well-shaded, that doesn't seem excessive overall. The fan's thermostat is set at 80 degrees, and the fan keeps the building about 85 degrees; it turns on at about 10 a.m., and turns off at about 9:00 p.m. The point is, it works well considering its size, fairly easy to install and wire, and my only real issue with it is its short life. All that said, I bought another one of these to replace the dead one, but probably won't buy again if it dies in two years or less again. ... show more

I have this fan paired with another fan for circulation in our garage and it works great. I wired both to a wall mount switch for ease of use. I did have to remove the shroud and shutters for our application.
