First impressions, before installation 12/17/2020 1. Whats in the box?: - Well packaged as it does not have much in wasted space but has room enough to keep product safe during shipping. - The Aivo Connect Mount that has the Alexa built into the base. - Standard auto power outlet adapter (aka cigarette lighter receptacle) with a USB-C plug for the mount. It also has a USB input to allow an additional device to be connected for power if needed. - Two sticky dash mounting pads, as this is not designed to be mounted on the windows. - Documentation which is easy to read and informative. 2. Mount Installation: - Very easy to install as you just line up the arrow on the dashboard pad, allow time for it to fully adhere then slide on the mount and twist. (see my small gripe about proper mounting below though). 3. App Installation: - Aivo Connect Setup was fairly intuitive as you can read the instructions and then it walks you through the process. It requires the Alexa app to connect, but if you don't have it then it will link you to the app store to install it so don't worry. 4. First time using (easy or hard)? 12/18/2020 - I have a Samsung S20 Ultra with the Otterbox Defender case and it had no issues fitting or holding tight. - Once attaching the mount to the dashpad I thought it was off, then realized it will click into place so might need a bit of strength to twist. Also the part the holds the phone can move forward and back a bit allowing a slight change in the position which while not as good as the other iOttie mounts with telescopic movements, it helps a bit with positioning. The only problem was that I found that I needed the pad to have been turned counter clockwise a hair or two more to center me in the camera when doing video calls. Not the end of the world as you should not actually do video calls or watch videos while driving, however it means that its now stuck like that as it cannot change anymore. Would like to have seen the phone holding part of the mount to have more options for moving the phone similar to the other iOttie product so that you are not limited on movement once the dashpad is placed. - I want to preface this statement with at this moment I am a Google Fan boy so have all Google home automation product and use Google Assistant, not Amazon Alexa at this time. So this was my first time downloading the Alexa app, and I am still trying to figure it out. So at this point I find it much more difficult than Google Assistant. I am going through the app to setup the options to see if that helps. But so far while in the car if I say "Alexa Take me Home" it does. But if I say "Alexa call X" it doesn't. I do see the light on the mount blink which tells me it heard me, but not sure if its the iOttie app or Alexa app having the issue. - I am unsure the point of the addition of the Alexa app into the mount at this point. As you have to have the iOttie Software, which I 5.(Positives) What I like about it? - The unique design allows for some interesting placement options once you get past the small grip I have below. I contemplated a few different spots before going to the tried and true middle of the dash spot. 6. (Negatives) What I am not as fond of? - Would love to see the mount have more options for changing the placement of the phone holder itself as of right now its to limited so if you have multiple drivers in a car or change your posture it may affect the viewing angle of the phone since once installed you can only do a few changes to the angle of the head of the mount (forward/backwards only). It is also slightly top heavy which had me afraid at the start it would quickly pull the tackiness from the mounting piece once the phone settled into it if the phone holder was leaned forward at the maximum angle. All other iOttie dash mounts have very good placement options with the telescopic mounts, so would like to see something like that with the new line. - The button used to open the mount is in an awkward place as because it only opens up when powered on it made it a bit of a pain to find where I wanted to put it for placement to use for video calls and what not as I had to plug it in first. Even then I turned my camera - Would love to see the provided charger be a USB-C standard cable with a car outlet adapter so that I can choose which works best for my car. My car has a USB plug built in and then a car outlet next to it so both work for me but I prefer not to use the outlet. - Would love to have the option to use Google Assistant instead of Alexa as I personally use the Google Home Automation ecosystem not Amazon Alexa. Few questions left to answer: - What's the purpose of this device? - How does it differ from Echo Auto? - How does it differ from Android Auto? ... show more

  • Doesn't work in cold weather
Style: Aivo Connect
I really like this product; it worked well for me so long as the temperature was warm. Problem is, the device that extends/opens to accept your cell phone won't extend during cold temperatures. I will say the seller offered a replacement however, the solution provided by the seller was to turn my heater on. Even with my heater on defrost, it only intermittently would work. I'm going to keep it installed and hope that when the spring/summer comes again it's starts working again. If it wasn't for this problem, I would have rated the product much higher. ... show more

  • This is nice but could have been better
Style: Aivo Connect
I like having Alexa in my car, but I do not like that she has to have adhesive on my glass or on my dash. Wish it came with a suction cup instead.

  • iOttie Aivo Connect Alexa
Style: Aivo Connect
So this device is great; it connects to my Alexa devices at home and can except commands to automate devices at home. This is a miniature Alexa and great charger at the same time. The two issues I have had with this device, which equate to serious issues for me as my right arm is partially paralyzed, is the automatic open feature does NOT always open all the way up to fit my phone in the cradle. I have to pry the arms apart, to which then it closes before I can get the phone in and it becomes a process. Second issue, is that it is constantly sending me notifications that say, "Alexa auto accessory connected. open the Alexa app to start Auto Mode". This gets a little overwhelming as my phone is in my pocket and constantly reporting the same message. Alexa! I know you are on, I left you plugged in for a reason. She only stops if I unplug the device which I do at night, but not after every trip during the day. ... show more

  • It's a good phone holder
Style: Aivo Connect
As much as I like to say good about this device it does hold the phone pretty well and sticks to the windshield or dash as it says. But fortunately I've been having issues with mine with charging my device wirelessly it starts charging and then about 5 minutes in it just stops. I originally used to use the provided cable and it stopped working every once in awhile with charging I thought it was my phone I even changed that with some friends phones and it still had issues, I was wondering if it was something with the phones being needing more power so I put a larger capacity USB cable on there in case if it needed some more watch but nothing seem to change. I tried region at the contact customer support website but didn't really work out that well. ... show more

  • Disconnects from app regularly.
Style: Aivo Connect
The adhesive is very strong which is great. It also opens and closes nicely. I cannot speak for the charging aspect as I didn't realize my phone doesn't have the wireless charging ability. The voice control is fine, though I need to speak quite loud to get its attention despite it being less than 3 feet away from my face. My biggest issues, which make me question if it's really worth the cost, is 1. Is disconnects itself from my phone regularly. And in order to resolve it I need to reinstall the app which is a giant pain in my ass as a busy single parent. I don't have time to keep fixing an $80 device as simple as this thing. And 2. The charger cord input to power it is in the back which limits my placement. I have two spots in the car I can use it. One is the top of the dash which tends to get in my way visually, and the other is in front of my stereo. That's where I want it to go but since the cord sticks out so far behind it there isn't a way to place it so it actually faces me properly. Over all its fine but could've gotten the same effect with a simple autoclamping holder and Amazon auto 🤷♀️ ... show more
