If you want to use it on a Land Rover, be sure you're not in a hurry. It spits out about 1 1/2 amps/hr. The Land Rover battery is a monster. But for $35, it's a great buy. It's easy to carry around. It will charge most dead batteries overnight. It's charging is high tech. I like that. Recommended.

    • Basic but very solid maintainer
First and foremost, I am happy with its performance and it has met all of my expectations. While it is a fairly basic model, it has done a great job keeping my riding mower battery ready for this season. The charger is lightweight and portable, making it easy to move around. As with all my tools, I wish it would have come with a storage case. The smart charger is designed to charge AGM batteries, which is perfect for my mower battery. The charger is fully automatic so I can set it and forget it. I can trust that whatever I've put it on will at least have a solid battery the next time I try to start it. The charger also has cable clamps and ring terminals, both of which connect to a quick disconnect plug. I use the ring terminal option and leave it connected to the battery. This makes adding or removing the charger plug-n-play. Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable and affordable battery charger/maintainer. ... show more

First of all, this works exactly as it's supposed to. It charges flooded, gel, and AGM batteries which are becoming more and more popular in newer vehicles. It's very easy to use, has multiple connection options like battery clamps, bolt on terminals and a power outlet/ cigarette lighter plug (which is something I've never seen before in a battery charger/maintainer. See my pictures to see what I'm talking about. Now for the "could be improved" items: The bolt on terminals have too short of wiring attached. I like to run those farther away from the battery, but these are too short to do that. You won't be able to run it and secure it somewhere on something like a motorcycle that doesn't have easy access to the battery. The unit is not weather sealed, similar products from other brands are. Bottome line, this seems well built, the wires and connections are good quality and should last a long time. I ordered this for a battery that I use for the winch on my car trailer. The battery doesn't see a ton of use and I didn't want to leave it on my regular charger all the time as it will damage the battery. I also didn't want to end up with the battery being dead when I need it. This battery maintainer is certainly doing the trick. Now the battery sit on the side of my shop ready and waiting for when I need it. I also like that it comes with several interchangeable ends for connecting it. I'm using the typical clamp ends for this battery, but am intrigued by the cigarette outlet connector. I have a sports car that hibernates most of the time and it also has a battery maintainer on it. But that means the hood of the car is partially open and the cover to the battery box is off. This has meant when I do want to take it for a spin I have an annoying disconnecting process to go thru before starting the car. The cigarette lighter adapter would be so much easier. The hood stays closed, battery box cover in place. I would just need to leave a window cracked for the cord and would only need to unplug it from the maintainer before going on my way. Will be giving that a try and likely buying a second one for this car. ... show more

This maintainer is from a well-known brand and comes with battery clamps, ring connectors, and a cigarette lighter adapter. The pigtails on the connectors are short, only about a foot long, which is fine for the clamps and cigarette lighter adapter but may not be long enough for a permanent install using the ring connectors. Also, most vehicle cigarette lighter ports are shut off when the ignition is off, making that adapter of limited use. I use this maintainer on my lawn tractor battery. The tractor only sees intermittent use, especially in the winter, so a battery tender is a necessity. The maintainer has kept the battery charged and healthy without issue. The tractor starts on the first try every time. I have a few of these battery tenders from different manufacturers and they all use the same connector (wired with the same polarity) so it is very convenient, I don’t have to remember which one goes with which battery. This is a good basic battery maintainer. Just attach it to the battery and plug it in. ... show more
