Updating this review…added info at the end and pictures after 3 coats of polyurethane. Bought 2 of these for our college daughter’s apartment. The chairs came super super fast - the next day when I wasn’t expecting them for 4 days. Very very pleased with the shipping speed, the free shipping, and the price for the chairs. Both chairs look really nice. Love the arrow back slats - more comfortable for your back than just dowels. They’re all assembled. All you have to do is stain/polyurethane them. We’re just putting 3 coats of polyurethane. The husband said both chairs were sanded well and that they didn’t require any additional sanding. (He’s a woodworker and has built several beautiful pieces of wood furniture.) The first chair was nice and stable. The hubby said the legs on the second one were installed at different angles. As a result, the chair rocked enough to be annoying. He’s going to add plastic feet to the bottoms of the legs to protect the wood floors, but he has to add 3 washers to one of the legs so it won’t rock. Easily fixable but really annoying. The hubby wanted to exchange the defective chair but that probably would’ve incurred a shipping cost. Plus we didn’t have time since our daughter is moving into her new apartment this weekend. So I would’ve given 5 stars if both had been like the first chair. I would’ve taken off only half a star if I could due to the uneven legs on the second chair. Update: wish we would’ve stained them b4 putting on the 3 coats of polyurethane. (I had said no stain because the table was “natural.”) The wood has so much variation that is more evident now. The second chair that rocked was the one with the big the color variation. See the pictures. (The husband would’ve preferred if I had just bought ones already finished but I was looking for something not too expensive that could get delivered quickly.) ... show more

I recently painted my honey oak kitchen cabinets white. I painted my kitchen table with the same white paint to match. My chairs were not in good enough condition to redo so I decided to look for some matching chairs to go with my table. These chairs are perfect! I lightly sanded them with 220 grit sand paper followed by two coats of primer and two coats of paint. I did have to fill in a few places with wood filler before I could paint them, so I'm not sure I would choose these chairs if I were going to stain them. ... show more

Solidly built chair. I had difficulty staining it to the color I wanted because it took on an orange hue. It may be a characteristic of this type of wood?
