I purchased this over a year ago as a replacement for a much used and much loved Bunn My cafe coffee maker I'd had since 2013. Easy to setup, easy to use, and easy to clean. I love the fact that I can see the water in the reservoir. I generally make at least one cup of coffee a day and I haven't had any issues with leaks. I was So tired of getting a Kuerig and it dying in such a short time. The last one never lasted a year. I don’t care where kuerig makes their coffee pots but if they don’t last that is a huge waste of my money and I don’t have money to waste. Shame on them. Anyway, this is a great coffee maker. I am very pleased with it. I use my own coffee in the refillable pod which is made of stainless steel -it will last me quite a while. Mine is small -perfect for a single person. I have used the 8oz and 10 oz setting only. Making coffee w-a new maker always takes a while to get the hang of it. I am happy. It is Fast too. I visited my daughter at Christmas and she had a little Keurig. I noticed she had used a larger one but it died. I told her to get the Instant coffee maker and kuerig was a bad one now. She disagreed. I was visiting her at Easter and I noticed she now has a Huge Instant coffee maker. Her new kuerig she had at Christmas had failed. Guess she remembered what I told her. I’ve been using this brewer for the past 3 months and have had no issues getting consistent quality brews. I am selecting the 10 oz. setting using the included reusable coffee pod accessory. I grind the beans to a med-fine consistency and fill the pod to the top(2 tablespoons). I use reverse osmosis filtered water to eliminate minerals and “city water” taste. There are minimal bean grindings in the finished brew. The retail K-cups render the best flavor at the 8 oz setting with no grounds in the brew. The brewed coffee temp tests at approximately 180 degrees which is way too hot to drink immediately. I brew into an insulated 16 oz. go-cup and the coffee stays at a drinkable temp for an hour or more, dependent upon the ambient air temp and quality of the insulated cup. The brewer works equally well with purchased K-cups or grind your own beans. I have a wonderful local coffee roaster and find purchased whole beans to be much more economical than K-cups, in addition to supporting a local small business. My only recommendation would be to order an extra reusable coffee pod accessory. Mine has been used for approximately 400 brews and it is showing some wear. Overall, I highly recommend this brewer with top results for consistency, brew temp and ease of use. ... show more

    • Changing my review to ONE STAR--would prefer ZERO stars!

I had previously had the competitor’s product—let’s charitably call it the JFat coffee pod machine. Or rather, TWO of the competitor’s JFat machines. Both failed, almost to the day, at 4 months 2 days. The first machine was warranty replaced. The warranty replacement failed at—you guessed it—4 months and 2 days. My JFat machine was replaced a THIRD time (in under 9 months) but I have zero faith now in that machine. In each case the unit was toast after doing the first descaling cycle. And apparently, going online, it is a very common failure. You shouldn’t have to pay close to $100 for a coffee maker that fails every 4 months! So I took a chance and got this unit. Update 3 months later: I revised my review to one star. Initially this unit was GREAT. But 2 months and 2 days later, it started freaking out--belching out steam from the lid, and the pump motor sounded like it was straining to climb Mt. Everest. I had only used distilled water in this unit, and probably brewed 2-3 cups of coffee a day. Amazon promptly replaced the unit, and I gave the warranty replacement unit a try. It lasted less than a month when it started acting weird--all the lights would start flashing at once, etc. I unplugged everything and it seemed to be okay. As a precaution, I tried to run the cleaning cycle, following the printed instructions EXACTLY. The automated cleaning cycle would NOT work. I wound up running a tank of the descaling/water solution through manually, one cup at a time. At this point the unit was under a month old! That seemed to help a tiny bit--but the next day the belching steam started, and the unit would stop brewing WAY to early--like 2 minutes to brew six ounces, when I had pressed 12 ounces. Today, after taking 3+ minutes to get 6 ounces of coffee, I give up. TWO brand new units in three months. And this was after TWO K-Slim units going out exactly 4 months and 2 days of use. I have whole house water softening to eliminate mineral impurities. For the last Keurig machine and both of these machines, I used pure distilled water ONLY. Still--they quit after an absurdly short period of time. I'm not brewing 25 cups of coffee a day. I'm not brewing only powdered drinks (i.e. cocoa or the espresso types) just plain old Keurig coffee cups. I clean the unit(s) regularly, and run through the little cleaning pods about every 10 days just to be sure. And ALL of them have crapped out. I am giving the Keurig system one last chance--I'm buying one of the best units, a Cuisinart, that has better construction and a better pump system. Keurig et.al, you need to get your acts together and engineer and construct MUCH better products and MUCH more robust pumps. Online searches show more and more people complaining--some from even 2 days ago, all saying "this unit only lasted 1 month" or "after 5 months it was toast" or "my old machine lasted 4 years, this one barely lasted a few months." You are biting the hand that feeds you, and eventually the buying public will shun your brewers and your entire Keurig system. You have created the Ford Pinto of coffee makers. FIX IT--NO EXCUSES! ... show more
