I love that the water tank drains completely, no stale water, no algae! Super easy to fill daily or more, and clean thoroughly every week in seconds. You can select the BOLD setting, or not, easily from the 5 lighted yet completely smooth display options. 1.On /Off 2. BOLD (drips slower and hotter to release more flavor), I LOVE THIS SELECTION!! Hot and strong! 3. 8oz- reg, or w/BOLD selection: hot and strong! 4. 10oz reg, average coffee strength, BOLD Selection makes this a stout breakfast or brunch/break time coffee. 5. 12oz mild strength coffee, good with sweets, BOLD 12oz… ICED COFFEE PERFECT, right off of the coffee machine and into the fridge!! I add 3 pumps of SF caramel syrup, a shot glass of heavy cream, and ice. Yummy. I bought the red one, it’s sturdy with nice heaviness thick satiny red plastic body, and has a slightly retro look. Perfect in my kitchen. The bottom drip tray grate removes for an extra inch or so, space for the taller travel mugs I have. Compared to a red less than $25.00 knockoff I wasted money on before buying this InstaPot Coffee Maker. This Instapot quality is just very obviously much better, sleek and modern, yet the red has a retro flair. . Much hotter, much better taste, easy to keep clean! I’ll quickly compare it to the multiple Keurig machines I’ve owned or used. Similar, except hotter coffee, cheaper in price, but Insta feels like a better quality than Keurig, I really like it. My Keurig coffee machines have always been the full size model and hard to clean, non complete emptying has caused algae to appear in the water tank between weekly cleanings for my elderly house cleaning clients. Yuck! Every Keurig I’ve had has stopping working at about year 1, maybe year two but I don’t think they last long enough for the price. I’m the only coffee drinker in my household. In closing, It’s just three months old but it still works great! Still works like new! Still looks like new! I’ll definitely update this next year if I can remember. ... show more

I had previously had the competitor’s product—let’s charitably call it the JFat coffee pod machine. Or rather, TWO of the competitor’s JFat machines. Both failed, almost to the day, at 4 months 2 days. The first machine was warranty replaced. The warranty replacement failed at—you guessed it—4 months and 2 days. My JFat machine was replaced a THIRD time (in under 9 months) but I have zero faith now in that machine. In each case the unit was toast after doing the first descaling cycle. And apparently, going online, it is a very common failure. You shouldn’t have to pay close to $100 for a coffee maker that fails every 4 months! So I took a chance and got this unit. Update 3 months later: I revised my review to one star. Initially this unit was GREAT. But 2 months and 2 days later, it started freaking out--belching out steam from the lid, and the pump motor sounded like it was straining to climb Mt. Everest. I had only used distilled water in this unit, and probably brewed 2-3 cups of coffee a day. Amazon promptly replaced the unit, and I gave the warranty replacement unit a try. It lasted less than a month when it started acting weird--all the lights would start flashing at once, etc. I unplugged everything and it seemed to be okay. As a precaution, I tried to run the cleaning cycle, following the printed instructions EXACTLY. The automated cleaning cycle would NOT work. I wound up running a tank of the descaling/water solution through manually, one cup at a time. At this point the unit was under a month old! That seemed to help a tiny bit--but the next day the belching steam started, and the unit would stop brewing WAY to early--like 2 minutes to brew six ounces, when I had pressed 12 ounces. Today, after taking 3+ minutes to get 6 ounces of coffee, I give up. TWO brand new units in three months. And this was after TWO K-Slim units going out exactly 4 months and 2 days of use. I have whole house water softening to eliminate mineral impurities. For the last Keurig machine and both of these machines, I used pure distilled water ONLY. Still--they quit after an absurdly short period of time. I'm not brewing 25 cups of coffee a day. I'm not brewing only powdered drinks (i.e. cocoa or the espresso types) just plain old Keurig coffee cups. I clean the unit(s) regularly, and run through the little cleaning pods about every 10 days just to be sure. And ALL of them have crapped out. I am giving the Keurig system one last chance--I'm buying one of the best units, a Cuisinart, that has better construction and a better pump system. Keurig et.al, you need to get your acts together and engineer and construct MUCH better products and MUCH more robust pumps. Online searches show more and more people complaining--some from even 2 days ago, all saying "this unit only lasted 1 month" or "after 5 months it was toast" or "my old machine lasted 4 years, this one barely lasted a few months." You are biting the hand that feeds you, and eventually the buying public will shun your brewers and your entire Keurig system. You have created the Ford Pinto of coffee makers. FIX IT--NO EXCUSES! ... show more

This single serve coffee maker is perfect for small spaces. It is easy to fill and makes a good cup of coffee with variations in amount and a bold option. It does splatter a bit on the coffee maker while brewing but is an easy wipe up when done.

    • Clogged after two weeks

Two weeks in this developed flashing lights, became very noisy and spewed nothing but steam. It wouldn’t run 12 ounces at all. I drink A LOT of coffee so I decided to go ahead and run some white vinegar through it. Didn’t help. What did help was to clean the top needle with a straight pin, run a few cycles and repeat. I left an empty and clean reusable pod in for the last several cycles and saw about a dozen grains of coffee grounds in the bottom. I believe the needle was clogged with grounds so check that. The removable pod holder is very simple in design and easier to remove and clean than the Keurig machines I have had. That makes cleaning the bottom needle very easy. It now works perfectly on all settings and the coffee tastes great. ... show more
