  • High quality, versatile system in a small footprint High quality, versatile system in a small footprint
I purchased the FT2 around two months ago. My concern was to install this 800-lb unit on a second floor, I posted my questions on this page, and I want to thank the Amazon community for their feedback. You should get 11 boxes, but I only received 10 (the leg extension kit was missing). Amazon asked me not to open the other boxes and wait until they send me another set. I contacted Inspire and they sent me the missing box in a day or two, really great! I was impressed by the parts quality and the clear instructions. All parts arrived in perfect condition. Putting together the FT2 is a two-day project assuming you do not make mistakes in the process or parts are missing. In my case, one stack raiser was missing, but again Inspire sent me the piece which arrived in a couple of days. You may need an extra hand when installing the upper brackets. The unit was installed in a small room upstairs that sits over a load bearing beam. My unit is on a shag rug, over 3 panels of 3/4 inch plywood (in a U-shape) to distribute the weight across multiple joists. I will update this feedback if I see any structural damage over time, I hope not, it shouldn't. The equipment is commercial quality. The pulleys run smoothly, the bench is very solid and comfortable. The top two and the back four pulleys provide several options to work individual muscles. The leg extension works great. The Smith machine is a fantastic addition. However, because it starts from a negative position, I had to get used to it. It is now part of my basic routine for squats, calves, bench press, and incline press. With the weight multiplier, I do not think I will ever need to buy the extra weight stacks. It is amazing the number of exercises you can do in a very small footprint. Working out at home is priceless. No commute, no stinky bathrooms or loud music. The FT2 plus a couple of adjustable dumbbells and a good cardio machine, should be enough to be in decent shape without having to go to a gym ever again. ... show more

  • Wow!
Style: Inspire FT1 (no bench)
I was looking for a new home gym and decided on the Inspire FT1. So glad I did, this thing is amazing! The quality, versatility, ease of operation and bang for the buck all surpassed my expectations! Some things to know if you’re considering the FT1… Delivery – the Inspire FT1 is delivered via very large truck and is heavy, like roughly 700 lbs heavy. It comes in 8 boxes -- 6 boxes containing 50 lbs of weight plates each (if you get the 100 lb upgrade, add 2 more boxes), 1 small box containing the shroud parts, and 1 very large, very heavy box containing the actual FT1 and accessories, on a large double pallet. But everything was packed extremely well! Setup – despite the weight of the FT1, setup was easy… like super easy. The instructions advise using 2 people to set it up (probably due to the weight of each side of the FT1), however I did it by myself in right at 2 hrs total. Each side of the FT1 is preassembled with the pulleys and everything already together, you just have to connect the sides and add the weight stacks, accessory holder and shrouds. The instructions are very straight forward and easy to follow and the nuts and bolts are separated for each step, which is nice. Know where you’re putting the FT1 before you add the weight stacks… cause once it’s all together, it’s heavy! Follow the instructions for tightening the bolts and you’re all set! Versatility – I absolutely love the versatility of the FT1! Changing exercises, changing position of the handles/pulleys up and down, changing the weight you want to lift… all super quick and easy! The number of different exercises you can do on the FT1 is seriously only limited to your imagination. The pulleys are super smooth and quiet while using, and the whole thing is built solid! It comes with high quality handles, both a straight bar and a curl bar, a tricep rope, a couple other nifty accessories and an exercise guide. Overall I couldn’t be happier with my Inspire FT1, it totally blows away my old home gym and takes up less space in the process. 5 stars is not enough! ... show more

  • Great product
Style: Inspire FTX (no bench)
Bought this on Black Friday, November 29th, for $1,519 and received it on December 6th - with great service and communication from the logistics company. It arrived on a large wooden pallet and as stated by other reviewers, it’s incredibly heavy and had to be broken down to haul it downstairs to the basement. The two weight stacks come assembled separately, the weights themselves are in another 6 boxes and then the two cross-supports are separate also. Even with those items broken down, it took three of us to get item downstairs. Putting together was a simple process, made difficult by how heavy the towers are. It took my wife and I together to get the two towers upright, positioned correctly and assembled with the two cross supports. After that I was able to complete the assembly and slide the weights onto the runners by myself. I was worried briefly during the assembly stage as it felt very unstable and moved under any weight, but once all bolts were tightened and weights added, there was no wobble when doing pull-ups. I’ve now been using the product for 3 weeks and have to say I’m very impressed. The cables are very smooth and feel very well balanced and the product appears to be very well made. The item came with a few attachments (a tricep rope, chin/dip belt, curl bar, two handles - material/rubber grips) which also appear to be very robust. The only issue taller people may find, is the (relatively) low height of the highest setting for the stations. It doesn’t bother me at all (I’m 5ft 6) but I can imagine that taller people may have a smaller range of motion when doing lat pull downs, tricep push downs etc. The height of the product in general is great for me, as it’s the perfect heigh for chin-ups and allows just enough clearance to my basement ceiling. In conclusion, I am incredibly impressed with the product and I would buy it again in an instant. It’s very well made and has helped add a ton of variety to my workouts. I would thoroughly recommend the FTX to any prospective buyer. ... show more

  • Great product and customer service Great product and customer service
Style: Inspire FTX (no bench)
I highly recommend the FTX Functional Trainer. For a home gym, it is extremely well constructed out of higher-end materials. It feels very solid when in use (gym quality) and, so far at least, there are no annoying squeaks or rattles. Delivery (from CA to SC) took about 1 week and assembly was much easier than I anticipated...but you definitely need two people since some of the pieces are quite heavy and bulky. To the extent possible, try to get it dropped off as close as possible to the room where it will be installed. The unit is shipped in 7 boxes....6 50-pound boxes containing the weights for the two stacks and one box containing the actual trainer frame and components. All together it weighs close to 600 pounds. Most of the boxes were fairly well shredded by the time they made it to my house but, while there was some minor cosmetic damage to the FTX frame, it was surprisingly well-packed and protected. They include some touch-up paint (along with some teflon lubricant) with the package which comes in very handy. One issue that arose was the fact that the price of the FTX dropped almost $300 between the time I placed the order and actual delivery. Given that this is a very hard item to repack and return, I was worried I would be stuck with the higher price. However, I sent an email to Inspire Fitness customer support and received a reply back within 24-hours indicating that a refund would be issued for the price difference since they have a 14-day price drop policy. Lastly, keep in mind that the weight stacks in the FTX unit are not upgradeable...so if you feel you might need to add more weight to the stacks down the road then you must go with their FT1 or FT2 models. Overall, a great product at a fair price along with responsive customer service and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again. ... show more

  • Exceeds ALL expectations
Style: Inspire FT1 (fully loaded)
I have been looking for a functional trainer for several months but the $4000+ pricetags on competitors equipment was out of my price point. I chose the FT-1 thinking I was settling. I was completely wrong!! As a mechanical engineer, I was really impressed at the quality of construction and precise fit when assembling each of the components. It is big and bulky to assemble with one person, but the instructions are clear, all hardware was there, and installation was easy. From a functionality standpoint, it is everything I wanted at a great price. As one other user noted, the bench is about 2" higher than a standard bench, so it is difficult to lock out your legs on bench press. This is easily solved by placing a step platform under the bench. The quality of the bench makes it my first choice rather than using the others I have. I did add the optional weight stack upgrade. I also appreciate the mesh guards over the weight stack. I would say this is not necessary for 90% of the exercises but is nice to have. I routinely work out with my dogs and I don't have to watch if someone is sticking their nose where it doesn't belong. The ONLY thing I would change would be a little wider spread on the cable attachments, but that would make the unit larger and I am really nitpicking here. The shape fits perfectly in a corner. This unit has really expanded the versatility of my home gym and is a fantastic addition. ... show more

  • This is a really nice machine

This is a really nice machine. It's all we should ever need. It's smooth and sturdy. Just wish it came with the 5lb add on weights...or that they weren't so expensive to purchase. ($37 each).

  • Almost Perfect (except for tall people)
Style: Inspire FT1 (no bench)
Delivered onto your driveway (or in my case into my garage) in a bunch of boxes (8 I think) on a wooden pallet that is left behind for you to dispose of. Assembly was pretty easy, my 17-year old son and I got it done in about 2 hours I think. The two pulley towers come pre-assembled so that saves a ton of time. I am a 50-year old guy who was worked out in gyms my entire adult life. My current membership is with Crunch Fitness and when we saw the writing on the wall with respect to a pending Ohio "stay at home" order for the Coronavirus pandemic we pulled the trigger on ordering this. Turns out to be a good thing because gyms have been closed for almost a month as of today (April 8th) and will remain closed at least through the end of this month. I would have lost my mind (and gained 30 lbs) if it wasn't for this equipment. Anyway, being experienced with gym equipment I know how versatile these functional trainers (cable machines) are. And this piece of equipment is very solid, the pulley action is very smooth, and it really does seem to be gym quality stuff. It also comes with almost every attachment you will need. It comes with a nice booklet of exercises (with pictures) and you can also buy cable exercise posters here on Amazon and find some really good videos on YouTube - search "100 functional trainer exercises" and you will find a couple of these videos that will literally give you 200 exercises you can do on this machine. So this machine is almost perfect. Here is how it is not perfect for someone my size. I am 6'3" and I wear 37" sleeves on my dress shirts. So, if you are shorter than me (or at least have shorter arms) then these issues may not be a problem for you. If you are taller than me you might want to look at another product with bigger dimensions. 1) The towers could be about 5 inches farther apart. When I am doing standing chest fly exercises I don't get enough extension of my arms out to the sides. This is the only exercise where I have run into this problem, so it is not major, but if you do more exercises that mimic this motion it could be a big problem for you. 2) It could be taller. To use the integrated pull-up bar I need to grab the bar and then hang down while pulling my legs up so I am almost in a kneeling position. No way will most people be able to do pull-ups like at a dedicated machine at a gym. Of course this machine would be so tall that the pull-up bar would touch the standard 8' ceiling in your house (and you would slam your head into the ceiling doing pull-ups) so I guess this couldn't be avoided. Even to do lat-pull downs using the included bar or separate handles is tough. Sitting on a weight bench, with the pulleys at the highest position, I get nowhere near full extension. I did figure out I can do lat pull-downs (using the separate handles, not a bar) by a) putting pulleys at highest position, b) face outward from machine and c)grabbing the handles and lowering yourself so you are sitting on the floor with your legs sticking out in front of you. I am so tall that I can actually grab the handles while sitting on the floor to do my next set, but for most others you can let the weight pull yourself back up into a standing position at the end of each set. Problem solved and it works really well. 3) There is no good way to work out your quadriceps. These are the muscles in the front of your thighs that you work when you do the seated leg extension machine. Doing lunges with a cable machine are awkward at least for me. Angles are tough and I can't keep my balance. I do lunges with dumbbells but I feel like I am hitting my glutes more than my quads. I do however get really good workouts on all my other leg muscles using ankle straps so am happy with the rest of it. I also purchased two really good ankle straps on Amazon (ASIN: B01IQ85QYM) because the single one that came with this machine is a bit skinny, and it was a P.I.A. to keep switching it between ankles when doing leg exercises. I also purchased a separate curl bar on Amazon (ASIN: B0010YPLGS) which was ok. It is another way to hit your triceps and do curls, but this particular bar is so heavy that it will fall down if you aren't holding it up when pulling out the pin to switch weights. It also squeaks a bit when using it (the metal collar rotating around the bar). Hope it doesn't rust. I also did purchase one extra 50 lb. weight plate stack (ASIN: B00YI9SGSM) which let me put 2 extra plates on both stacks and left me with one I didn't use. It gets the number of plates on each side from 15 to 17. So far I have not used anything heavier than 14 (for lat pull downs) and don't see myself going higher than 15. Younger/stronger guys than me might make use of additional plates so that decision is up to you. Final thoughts: I have been working out more than I did with my gym membership because I save a 15-minute drive each way, make zero effort to do anything with my hair, and never have to wait to use a piece of equipment. So I actually have been doing more exercises per body part. I have made clear gains in lean muscle mass in just the past three weeks, and the wife has happily noticed :-) With an elliptical in the basement as well, I really don't need to go back to the gym when it opens back up. So, the FT1 or the FT2? If you can swallow the price difference, spend the roughly $2,000 extra to get the FT2 **and** the weight bench that comes with it. That weight bench is designed to work with the extra bottom cable pulleys on the FT2 so you can do those leg extensions for your quadriceps! And of course you get the built-in smith bar which does make squats and chest presses easier to do. It was just too much cash for us, and I can say I am very, very happy with the FT1. ... show more

  • 100% pure quality replaces a entire gym 100% pure quality replaces a entire gym
I've been bodybuilding for about 12 years religiously, and this machine can replace almost everything. Chest, back, shoulders, arms, glutes, legs, abs you name it the different lifts you can do are endless! The quality is top notch nicer than a gym equipment in every aspect. Very easy to use and it comes with a pretty decent workout manual for beginners that would be easy to follow and learn the machine and your body. I assembled this myself with the smith and leg attachment and extra weight stack and instructions were probably the best I've had, never got confused once on what I was doing. Total time was probably about 6 hours but I used all my own tools and I am mechanically inclined. I can't say enough good things about this machine. After 12+ years of paying for a big chain gym membership and driving back and forth 6 days a week I am FINALLY done with gyms thanks to this machine. I have a adjustable bench press that I bought and have never used since I purchased the FT2. Been abusing it for 3 months now and I know it is going to last a long time, this is awesome quality and I'm so glad I bought this machine instead of the others I was looking at. UPDATE: 1-28-20 I have been using this machine for one year now 6 days a week, and it is in the same exact condition as you see in the picture. Not a single issue I have had with it, not one piece has shown signs of wear, even the vinyl bench material looks new still. Only thing I have done Is lubed the moving parts up a couple times and that's it. All bearings and pulleys and cables operate smooth as butter also. 100% recommend this product if you are looking for a home gym, this is very high quality machine ... show more
