This is more fragrant than expected. It works well, but the smell can be a bit overwhelming. I'm guessing it will mellow with time. It was well packaged and even came with a little gift card and a spritzer bottle to spray water on it (with instructions). It's a great size, as many of these we've had in the past are small. This is a good quality heating pad that heats up in the microwave within 2 minutes. The heat is comfortable and soothing and never feels too hot ( As long as you follow heating instructions) Heating pad can be a bit stiff due the the salt filling and does not contour to the body as well as I would have liked. It does have a wonderful relaxing lavender aroma and has a removable cover for easy cleaning. The pad holds heat for about 15-20 min. Very impressed with this microwaveable heating pad! I got this in the lavender color and instantly out of the package, I could smell the strong lavender aroma which I find to be so soothing and relaxing. This set comes with clear instructions on how to and how long to heat the pad, be sure to remove the soft chenille covering first prior to heating. You will have to take note whether your microwave is a turntable one or flat bed as the heating instructions vary. There is a small spray bottle for you to add water to and the instructions recommend spraying each side of the inside packet a few times prior to heating to extend the life of the heating pad. The first time I tried it, I didn't spray it as I wanted to see how it would feel without additional moisture and it worked fine. There is also a tiny but lovely thank you card from the sellers that was a nice touch. The outer covering is made of a lovely, lavender soft chenille material that feels comfortable against bare skin. This will come in handy on crampy days or for tired, sore muscles after a workout. Apparently, you can also use this as a cold compress, you just place in the fridge while keeping it contained in the plastic sleeve bag that came with the product but I prefer to use it as a hot compress instead. ... show more

Lavender heating pad theoretically sounds amazing. In real life it smells bad once heated. I’d also requires manual work to get up and put it in the microwave. I will just stick to my non-smelling electric heating pad and some lavender oil instead.

Upon first inspection, this heating pad is beautiful. The washable cover is soft and the fabric is very nice and feels great on your skin. The heating pad comes with a small bottle made of plastic that you fill with water and spray onto the heating pad before you put it into the microwave to heat. From the directions I understood that you are to spray each side of the heating pad put it in the microwave for one minute which is 60 seconds on each side for a total of 120 seconds. When I pulled it out of the microwave, I don’t think it was as warm as I wanted it to be so I let it cool and thought about it for a little while and came back in about an hour. I sprayed both top and bottom with a water spray put it back in the microwave but this time I heated it for 200 seconds, which is 100 seconds on each side, which would be just a little over a minute on each side. I am not sure if this was user error or if there was some thing in my bag that shouldn’t have been there. But when I took the bag out, it smelled burnt and I did use it briefly on my shoulder and it felt good. But when I took it off my shoulder, the inside spilled all over the floor, and I inspected the heating pad to discover that it did burn a hole through it, and that is where the items leaked out from. I think on the directions, they should include a warning not to overheat this heating pad in the microwave as it will burn, possibly catch on fire. ... show more

We have some electric heating pads at home, but either there's a cord that can get in the way, or they're cordless and don't cover a large enough area. I picked this up to try to bridge that gap. I can't speak to the value of this using Himalayan salt or dried lavender. Ultimately, what I cared about was that I could easily heat this up for a short period of time in the microwave, and it would retain that heat for a while. To that extent, my needs were mostly satisfied. You're supposed to spray this with water and then heat it for 2 minutes in the microwave. I did that and I got a decent heat out of it, it just wasn't as satisfyingly warm as my corded heating pad. Note: While the lavender smelled good beforehand, once microwaved, it actually wasn't putting off a stinky sweat smell. The outer layer of the heating pad is comfortable against the skin and washable. I'm ultimately dropping a star due to the smell and the fact that it's just not as hot as my corded pad. NOTE: Be sure to treat the plastic bag that this comes in well, as they suggest that you store the pad in that bag when not in use, as well as if you decide to freeze it to use as a cold compress. ... show more
