I bought this to hang over our patio table for hanging out during the cool winter months here in Oregon, but it just didn't provide enough heat to make much of a difference. To test, I hung the dish about 3 feet over the patio table and turned it on to the max 1500W mode on a mid-40's (F) day with minimal breeze -- I couldn't notice any heat unless I put my hands within about a foot of the heater. I think part of the problem is that is doesn't have any means of circulating the heat so it doesn't do much good for anything below it. That said, it was very light but seemed to be of good quality so it might make a decent indoor space heater for a garage or shop. It just didn't seem to be enough to make any kind of difference in a patio setting, even under mild conditions. ... show more

    • Heater or light?
Puts out a lot of light. About the same as a 100 watt bulb. I wanted a heater, not a light. Too bright for my front porch or for camping. I have other quartz and similar heaters but this one uses a different spectrum. I don't like how bright it is.

    • PERFECT for unheated areas such as worksheds, mudrooms, garages-DECADENT over a shower stall!
The three varying heat outputs are fabulous. I have mine over my work area in my unheated garage-working with gloves and puffy coat doing projects is not practical! This is super. If you are trying to safe money and reduce energy use by keeping a house cooler than normal in Winter, mounting outside of a shower/tub and stepping out underneath it would be decadent! This product was a disappointment. I loved the 60s aesthetic, simple pull switch, and seemingly focused heat delivery, but alas, the coils put out way more light than they do heat. And the light was much brighter than desired -- a brighter yellow flare versus a deeper hued ambiance -- and there was little heat delivered given its wattage; hence, most of this product's electrical energy is converted to light, not heat. ... show more

It's really very simple. It creates heat below where you put it. I put it above my work station. It has 3 levels of heat. It plugs into a standard 120v outlet. And it is rather inexpensive. It saves a premium of work and floor space in your area. It's a space heater.
