  • Cheap and Durable, Works as Promised
Size: 7.2 qt. Color: Silver
I got this because I didn't think a pressure cooker should suddenly cost $150, and I have not been disappointed. Especially with the pandemic, buying giant bags of pinto beans or chick peas in bulk for cheap and being able to cook them fully from dry to falling-apart-tender in two hours is a huge timesaver for a working dad. I did research some of the 10-in-1 type air fryer/pressure cooker combos, and honestly I don't see what they add over my $30ish individual components. Sure a multi-appliance saves space in the cupboard when you're not cooking, but I often need to oil fry some bhature or fresh falafel at the same time as I pressure cook chick peas for hummus or chana masala, so for me the space savings doesn't work. $30 rice cooker, $30 deep fryer, $30 pressure cooker, I'm still saving money. I think you could even get the smaller one; this thing is huge for supper for a family of 4 plus leftovers. Plus this seems really similar to the types of pressure cookers I've seen for sale in Indian specialty markets in the US, and Indians are one of the main users of pressure cookers, so that's a good recommendation. It's cheap, it's mostly metal. You can pick it up with the handle when it's at its hottest and run it under cold water to shut it down quickly. I think the lack of an electronic readout is actually a strength (literally, more durable). I've got an bay oven and a refrigerator with digital readouts, and both of the readouts cracked or stopped working within a few years of buying these appliances. I just use a phone timer to time it. There's a reason our grandparents insisted on metal and glass construction. ... show more

  • It’s Ok not great.
Size: 7.2 qt. Color: Silver
I always have used brands like Hawkins and Prestige, I love cooking and do it everyday basis. As indian cooking involves a good pressure cooker a lot for a lot of recipes. I use it for more than 2 days a week sometimes even 3 days. I am very used to the pressure cooker that has whistle, it’s like I know how many whistles and my food will be done. But this pressure cooker’s whistle don't work. When my last pressure cooker broke I had to order something in rush and looking at the reviews I decided to get it. Negative : 1. It’s whistle don’t work - means you have to pay attention to the time, and use judgment when food will be done, in kitchen I like to multi task so I just keep ears to decide when food is ready which I can’t do with this one. But my husband and son loves it as they don’t need to keep tract of whittles. After using it for a while now I have my judgments and I just put alarm on and turn of the heat. So yes this issue isn’t that big anymore. 2. When you cook something the bottom gets dark and gets stains. I hate to see my cooker like that well if I put lemon wedge on bottom inside my cooker while cooking. This kind of helps to clean the cooker but still I have to try and clean those stains. Which I am not very happy about. 3. It’s not heavy bottom as I am used to. So I am still not sure of the material quality and how long will it last. Positives : When I ordered it, it came quick, the packaging was very nice. It really cooks fast. Earlier for boiling patatoes it used to take more than 12 whistles that means more than 20 mins and now it’s ready just in 10 mins. All in all this pressure cooker does what it suppose to. I am giving it less stars cause of whistle issue, cleaning issue. ... show more

  • This has brought me joy and new skill set.
Size: 7.2 qt. Color: Silver
I bought this because I saw a recipe and demonstration on YouTube put out by America’sTest Kitchen. They demonstrated how to make “Farmhouse Chicken Noodle soup” in a pressure cooker. I was intrigued by that video; they raved about the flavor of the soup and explained how a pressure cooker I handed food flavors. I made this soup yesterday exactly as they directed and I made it in this pot. Oh my!!!!!! I’m making it again today!!!! The end product, the soup, was so superior to any soup I’ve ever made in a traditional pot. The whole chicken I put in was moist and delicious. The flavors melded together beautifully. I feel like a restaurant chef with this recipe and with my pressure cooker. It has brought me extreme joy that I can make a superb chicken noodle soup for my friends and family when they are ill or just need a lovely phenomenal comfort food. This is just the first meal. I am so excited to make other recipes in this wonderful vessel. The price is super. Read up about pressure cooking before you cook. There are some things you need to know. I was nervous about using it, but after doing some reading online and watching you tube videos, this pot is safe and the learning curve is not so steep. Do be careful though!! Enjoy!!!! Off to make a second pot of soup now! ... show more

  • Check liquid level
Size: 7.2 qt. Color: Silver
I was very happy 😃 with this pressure cooker. It cooks my food very fast. Slow cook quaIity chicken soup in 30 min. I even made bone soup and the bones became soft. I read many reviews before my purchase. Some were plausible, some were unrealistic expectations of the material. And if the directions were followed or you use it like your momma taught you, it works great !!!!! One reviewer criticized that it scratched. Aluminum is a very soft metal. It scratches and stains. All my mom’s aluminum cookware showed use. A sign it’s been lovingly cooked in. If you want a pristine display piece, don’t use it, show it off. The last huge no no is to never let the liquid get low. It BURNS!!!!! That’ll take some scrubbing to get it off. Baking Soda and vinegar paste helps. Lastly, pay attention to the pressure valve. It should gently roll, then you know the temperature 🤒 is just right. Lastly, check, check, check your food. I quit cool it in the sink under running cold water to release the pressure, check my seasonings, add more tender veggies and more water if needed. HAPPY 😃 COOKING 🥘!!!! ... show more

  • Great Value!
Size: 7.2 qt. Color: Silver
I was not ready to spend $100+ for an electric pressure cooker. This thing is great, and quite inexpensive compared to other options. Follow instructions and beware it is made of aluminum so the inside will dull a bit with use, but can't beat it for the price.
