It's Jan. 18th and it keeps snowing avg. 18 degrees at night. I have a tote that I keep in my greenhouse that had at least a 4" block of ice at the bottom. I added at least 5 gallons of water. A little kitty was using the greenhouse for shelter and I figured he could use added warmth. It took some time but this product not only melted the block of ice but warmed the entire tote to 108 degrees before I shut it off. Put the cat bed next to it for added warmth. Two days later and the tote still hasn't frozen over. Mind you it was below freezing yesterday and overnight. I'm gonna keep the ice melted and come up with some other ways to use this item to keep drinking water available and see about the method of heating the greenhouse more.

Not even good enough to use energy to return them straight to the trash they went. I have smaller fish tank heaters more efficient and powerful then these junks. Manufacturer should be embarrassed to sell these If you want hot garbage then spend your money on them

These work just like stated in description. Be careful, make sure you follow directions exactly. I have had complete success with mine. Only used one at this time. Other is a spare. Quality is good. No leakage, heats a 40 gallon tank fairly quick to 65 degrees. That’s a workable degrees for me, then I run the warmed water through a heater for my shower.

works as advertised (includes good thermocouple/thermometer with each in case you need it). I used one element at a time, 2 hours at a time about 40-60 times each before each quit working. I liked buying 2 at a time for this contingency but (of course) I would prefer more durability. (BE CAREFUL. 1. Put it on a TIMER Eventually you will otherwise forget and have MELTDOWN. 2 CHECK THE SOCKET after 10 minutes to see if it is getting hot. 3. Use 14GAUGE or bigger extension cord and as short as possible) I put one in my hottub to heat from 85-90 F to 90-96 F, 2 hours at a time once to twice daily as needed (derpending on outdoor temp.) I got 4-6 weeks use out of each of the 2 I bought. They have a little red LED to indicate they are getting input power. That is convenient. Those LEDs continue to work when the heater elements have opened/failed so you know it is not a power failure upstream.

We ordered 2 units to heat up our 16 foot pool. We had them on separated outlets and kept them Running for 3 hrs. The directions said not to use for more than 3 hrs at a time, the unit got so hot it melted the extension cord. Only needed to use it once. Will be sure to run it for less time next time.
