Our dog gets hotspots on her face, and the only way to heal them is to cone her. She is, however, a spiteful beastie and rams the cone into our legs at every opportunity to punish us for this indignity. Now, though, she is an adorable sunflower and we are much more cheerful about the whole thing. Including the dog- the flower doesn't restrict her vision and apparently makes a comfy little pillow. Although the wearer isn't super happy, this collar is keeping her from licking some scratches and isn't as annoying as the old cones. It was easy to inflate and came with instructions on attaching it to her collar. In the future I may just put a different collar in it as she managed to get it off once and then was also without her ID. ... show more

My dog had to have a lump removed about halfway up the back of her one front leg and a biopsy taken from a similar spot on the other front leg. She has no self-preservation instinct and was going to strangle herself in a regular cone so I've been looking for any alternative. A long-sleeve "recovery shirt" and this blow-up collar have worked great! I definitely wouldn't leave her unsupervised in them, but these inflatable donuts are perfect for when I want to give her skin a break from wearing a shirt. This kind is SO SOFT and fuzzy that I want one to wear as a pillow! It's easy to blow up without a pump, an XL fits her 18-19" neck perfectly, and unlike the other one I ordered, it actually has some slack in the little straps so you can get a collar secured in the middle to keep the dog from being able to push it off their head. I've had to re-inflate it slightly a couple times, but figure that's just to be expected with any inflatable device as the air inside cools and it probably can't ever seal perfectly 100%. I would get a size up if your dog's neck is towards the higher end of the listed diameter on the size chart. Much bigger than my dog and there would be a gap where the ends of the donut meet, and if that turns down by your dog's mouth, they can reach their injury and/or have a great place to start chewing on the collar. You also have to be aware of your dog's neck/snout/tongue length and location of whatever injury you're trying to protect. Dogs with longer necks or longer snouts (like my previous Husky mix) could easily reach "around" this kind of collar/cone to get to their back legs, midway up their front legs, probably even their belly like for a spay incision. My dog has a short muscular pittie-mix neck and her stitches are far enough up/behind her front legs that it's not a problem for me. If you're not sure and can, like for a scheduled surgery, get one early and do a test. Put it on your dog and use a treat or toy or something to try to lure them around to the spot. If they can reach it, or come close, this is not the cone for you. There's a reason vets still recommend using the plastic cone of shame, no matter how uncomfortable or inconvenient it might be. My reason for taking off a star is that the "ends" of the inflatable piece (where the gap is to get your dog's head through it) are significantly more narrow than the rest. Even with the ends strapped tightly against each other, there's a divot or smaller-diameter spot where they meet. The other one I got has the cover so tight I can't get a collar through the straps, but it's inflatable piece is molded such that the two ends meet almost square and don't leave a big divot in the protective donut. If you're not going to watch your dog while in this collar, it could easily slide around and they could use the more narrow spot to reach their injury or chew it up. I'd still recommend it but not for unsupervised use. Also, I ordered this as a used item from the manufacturer (seller IEUUMLER) and it saved me about half the "new" price and arrived looking brand new! No dirt, no damage, not even a hair like anyone had tried it on their dog. Don't hesitate to buy if one is available! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. **** UPDATE**** So I am updating my review. After much investigating and even thouroughly examining the listing there is in fact no real medium which would be a Medium+. They offer it in the size chart as well as below in the listing but they dont actullay sell it, so if you have a frenchie, boston terrior or similar mid-size dog you wont get a good fitting with this collar. I cant belive I have to return this item AGAIN! In fact Its the 3rd but 2 of this item/brand. They have no real medium. No size for small-medium dogs. I think they must have mis-labled the medium. I got this TINY one first labled a MEDIUM. Odd becuase I have an average 17-18lb dog. Thats very average. As you can see its almost 5 inches short so when the opening shift downward my dog was getting his paw caught in the opening, its just too small, so I order a large, which is huge! I mean, see phots, how on earth can this be normal? The difrence between them is insane. I tried velcroing the large as tight as possible but he would just shake off its so loose. Its my favorite design online but wjhat terrible sizing decisions they have made. The small aslo didnt have a stopper in the air valve and so much would seap out while trying to close it. My dog has has surgery 3 days ago and because of this terrible sizing issue of this item hes going to end up openiong his wound. Luckliy i have an old size small one but he gets heis paw caught in that as well, that why i dont know why they lable a small as medium. What a waste of time and returns they cause. The medium in this item is what normally would be a small or XS. I cant belive I have to retuen a 3rd doughnut and now need to shop and wait for another. This product lasted less than 10 days with my 1 year old bloodhound. Ordered XL, it is a little big on her, she is 76lbs and lanky. She can reach the bottom of her spay/pexy incision with it. Used this for when she was outside of her crate and we could watch her. Was super cute and comfortable, she enjoyed it vs the plastic cone. Allowed for plenty of airflow to her ears and neck wrinkles. She popped it with one playful grab! ... show more
