These are very decorative poles and I like the way they look in the year. I purchased eight poles and placed them 9 feet apart around two sides of a large patio. Bottom stake needs to go into the ground at least 14 inches which still leaves over 80 inches exposed. So yes these are tall and easy to assemble however I believe they are too thin for this height. I wish they were a bit thicker and sturdier. I just recently put them up so I do not know how well they'll do with harsh weather or how long they will last. I am hoping to get a couple years out of them. These are great if you are not looking for something permanent or can secure them to fencing. This black string light poles for outside comes with 2 ptional hooks: The shrimp whisker hook is for string lights or flags while the U hook is ideal for bird feeders, wind chimes or lanterns. I was so excited to buy these. Did my research and loved the design with the two hook options. It said they were 10ft high which would have been perfect! When I received them and put it together it measured 8ft from ground to the where the lights hung which would put the light right at eye height for my backyard deck/patio project. Would not have purchased them had I known this. Attempted to contact the company on the insert in the package to ask for assistance and have yet to hear back. Will be returning. ... show more
