This product is exactly what I need. Be VERY careful when bying this type of filter - there seems to be a fair amount of confusion &/or incorrect labels regarding 5 microns versus .5 ( decimal point five ). Just to be clear - .5 is one tenth the size of 5 and if you need 5 and get .5, the flow reduced flow rate is substantial ( already been through this happening once and that was enough. I just installed one of these filters today, seemed to fit alright, so we'll see how it does. I think this wound type filter will last longer than the pleated polyester type when you leave it in your system longer term. The pleated one I removed today fell apart in my hands. But these seem like a good value to me. ... show more

    • Great if you have a lot of sediment
We tried other types of filters, but string wound is the way to go if you have a lot of sediment in your well. You will still need an after filter if you have other issues (iron, etc.), but this does a good job saving our plumbing from sediment.

My husband and I have a surface water for our home system. We have a 50 micron spin down, 35 micron bag filter and tried using the 5 micron filter as our final filter but our water still had too much sediment in it for me. We have gone to 1 micron and it seems to be doing the trick. We probably could use the 5 micron during the summer months when there is not as much sediment flowing down the river. ... show more

ICEPURE PPW10BB keeps my water clear of sediment. The filter performs as intended. We recently had our well pump replaced due to a lightning strike, and it took several days for the water system to settle down. Sediment as thick as mud was captured by the filter.
