I bought this to replace a Fridgedaire ice machine that I bought 2 years ago. I was not happy because I had to give up my blue one. That being said, it makes ice faster and more ice than the other one did when it was brand new. I have not tried the self-clean mode yet but I didn’t have it on the other one. The only noise is ice dropping on the plastic. It is much quieter than the other. I really like the light when it needs water. If there is any change, I will update, but as of now it is a great purchase. Update—It is now not quite 10 months since I ordered the ice machine and it has quit working. The part that goes up in front of the cylinders will not move. It worked wonderfully until one day it just quit. The warning lights are not on, the exhaust is not blocked, only distilled water has been used in it. ... show more

We originally purchased this to use for extra ice when entertaining. We love it so much that we use the ice maker everyday. The two ice cube sizes are just right to use in a variety of glassware. The unit is quiet, doesn’t take up a lot of counter space and best of all it is self/cleaning. I only wish it had the capacity to keep the ice cubes frozen until ready to use. But we still love it! Update 4/17/23 Not loving this ice maker anymore. For the past month it has stopped working consistently. . We constantly get the ice full message even when no ice has been produced. We tried trouble shooting the issue but no luck. We bought this machine in July 2022 and used it daily until it stopped consistently making ice. Well UPS delivered it and the Box clearly was marked with arrows but they didn't deliver it with those arrows being up. I'm over 60 and I'm disabled the box is heavy but I carried it halfway in and then I just set it down on the ground and then I put it on my wheelchair and I pushed it in because though I'm disabled I still can walk just not long ways. So I pushed it up my ramp got in the house rested a while and then opened the Amazon box. Where in I found another box from the maker where that box was on its side even though it was clearly marked up so it was never in the upright position as the manufacturer needs because Amazon just disregarded that fact and so did UPS will UPS didn't know because they only paid attention to what Amazon said but yet they didn't even pay attention to the upmarks when they delivered it to me. So I got it and I read the instructions and it said to let it sit for an hour or more before you use it to let the coolant settle due to shipment and everything which I did. And though I could smell coolant I I washed it and everything and I was surprised. The ice cubes don't taste like coolant and the first batch even if you said it at large the first batch is going to be small. But all the other batches are really nice and you know they're small cubes sure but they last a long time and they're really cold. So I'm making some to put in my refrigerator overnight to keep the spoiling food colder because my regular refrigerator is failing me and so it doesn't even hold ice I mean it'll make ice but during the day it kind of defrosts a little bit and when I say make eyes I mean I put water into ice trays and I put it in the refrigerator I don't have a working ice maker because my house is not set up for a nice maker even though the refrigerator has one in it. Anyways I like this unit. I like how you're able to drain it without having to pick it up and tip it over. And so far I mean it's made a lot of ice for me in the past couple of hours I live alone so I don't need a lot of ice so it's like if I want to have a vodka or whatever it's called a greyhound I want to have vodka with grapefruit juice you know once in awhile or once or four times a day I can LOL it makes enough ice so that I can have cold ice on the hottest days of summer. it is a little bit noisy when it dumps the ice but my goodness what ice maker isn't. I just wasn't expecting the noise because I was forgetting. Update: less than a year later it is failing. Makes horrible noises and makes far less ice. Needs to be replaced already sadly. It died few days later. Not even a years worth of working. But yet they don't care because they only give a 30-day guarantee unless you buy the extra warranty which is b*******. If something says it has a year warranty when you buy it it should have a year warranty you shouldn't have to find out a year later that oh it only had a 30-day warranty even though it had a year warranty back when you bought it ... show more

    • No more ice from the store
My wife and I go through a lot of ice in a week so naturally we bought a refrigerator with built in ice and water. Well that lasted all of a few months. We resorted to buying bagged ice from the grocery store and kept in the ice reservoir of our fridge. We looked into other alternatives and discovered this wonderful portable ice machine. We couldn't be happier. Admittedly we keep it in the basement next to our box deep freezer so the noise really isn't an issue. That said, the noise is barely audible anyway. There are a couple of things to consider although neither is a deal breaker. The machine produces about 9 bullet shaped cubes every six to seven minutes. Once the ice is dropped into the basket there is no refrigeration so it comes out a bit wet and starts to defrost immediately. We also purchased some ice bags so we visit the machine about every half hour or so during the time we are running the machine. Place the ice in the bag and drop it into the adjacent freezer. The second issue is the fact it takes most of the day to fill one 8 pound ice bag. So while it will make 24 pounds of ice a day...you would have to run it all day and night to do so. I've now built up a cache of ice which means I now only run the machine about twice a week in order to stay ahead of our demand. The machine works like a charm, is easy to use and clean. We do use filtered water so most of the minerals have been removed and you do have to monitor when the water tank needs to be refilled. Again no deal breakers here and would highly recommend. ... show more
