Update 7/23 the manufacturer agreed to replace the leaking machine with a new one. The new unit is operating as expected. The square clear ice cubes are great and I hope this unit will last longer as I think it is a good machine. After less than 10 uses the unit leaks inside all over the electrical components. The ice maker works quite well. It makes lots of ice quickly, would have given it a 5 star review but... from time to time when the ice machine is full the machine doesn't recognize that the ice has melted down off the sensor paddle and won't start making more ice. But a simple cycle of the power button gets it going again. But over all it was worth the money. ... show more

    • Buy only if you are ok with breaking your ice apart
We have been through a lot of icemakers. I do like this one and the ice actually doesn't melt right away in your drink and you can choose the thickness of your ice. However, the only drawback is that you have to break the ice apart when it drops into the basket. We ordered a stainless-steel scoop and will see if this helps. We are currently just using a butter knife to break it apart. The ice makes a noise when it drops as you can imagine since it is all one block. Otherwise, we love it.! ... show more

Love love this thing! You have to accept the fact that you're going to have wet ice if you have a countertop ice maker. (Unless you spend $500 or $600 on one that has a solid freezer built in). Our ice maker went out in our freezer and I did a ton of research before buying this one. Now it sits happily on our bar and makes our drinks nice and cold and it makes me very happy. Things to love: it makes cubes not bullets and they are awesome. They are clear if you use filtered water which we use our reverse osmosis water. It knocks out easily 20 lb of ice in less than half a day. You can leave the ice in it it takes a long time to melt and if it melts it uses the melt and makes new ice. You do not have to drain this on a daily basis. Little nuances: the ice is definitely wet. All we do is take a ziplock bag fill the ice that we want to put in our freezer and is it block bag first stick it in the freezer for 10 minutes so it hardens up and then we dump it in the bin. Otherwise you can just leave this thing on your counter making ice as is. It's very easy to fill but it is recommended to drain maybe once every two weeks, there is a little drain plug in the back. Just to get fresh water in there. It is heavy so I recommend you keep it somewhere where you can just spin it around and drain it into a pitcher. If you leave it running at night you are going to hear a loud crash when the ice drops. It gets quieter as it fills up, and it will stop making ice once it's full, but I recommend turning it off at night. All in all this is a fantastic ice maker and definitely worth the value! I know someone with a countertop ice maker and it makes the bullets, I'm not a fan because they fill with water and they seem to water down faster.... But I think that's more of a personal preference. My dogs stand in front of this thing and wait for ice to be dropped they love it! But they are ice junkies. Don't just dump this in your checkout box.... buy it! It's totally worth it!! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Off the bat here are the pros and cons list: Pros - nice amount of ice - self cleaning function - ability to adjust the thickness of the ice cube. - makes a large amount of ice in no time. Cons - depending on outside temperature, the first batch of ice could take up to 30 minutes, then as the temperature inside the ice maker drops, which is usually only 5 degrees lower than outside, the ice making time decreases. - though it has a self cleaning function, you will have to run it at least 3 times a week. Also, empty the water out weekly and give it a good clean with soap and water once a week. It’s to ensure the parts don’t carry a smell and to keep it functioning properly. - downside to changing the thickness of the ice is that if it’s too thin, you will have to take it out of the ice maker as soon as it is made or it will melt away, the downside to making it thicker is that it takes longer to make. On the thickest setting, it will take about 18-20 minutes to make each batch of ice instead of the 8 minute per batch. - even though it makes a large amount of ice, you do not want to keep it inside the container, because it melts quickly. Scoop it out as soon as it drops and place in freezer bags for later use. - one big downfall to this device is that if you want ice right away, you will have to wait for the first batch to finish which usually takes about 20 minutes. As long as you plan ahead and start the ice maker before you need it, you will be fine. Overall, I like this ice maker. You just have to know it’s limitations and work accordingly for you. ... show more

I purchased this on sale for $199. At first I was trying to decide if it was any better than the bullet ice makers, and have come to the conclusion that it is. It makes cubes which I like better than the bullets and it makes more at a time than the bullet Ice makers. What you need to know is that it does not freeze the ice, it's not like a little freezer, it slowly will melt if not in use and then make more ice. When it fills up with ice, it will stop running. When it melts, it will start back up again and make more ice. It's a little big, but that's ok with me, I always have ice in there when I want some. You can control the thickness of the ice, could take anywhere from 10 to 15 minutes to make ice depending on alot of different factors. I have only had it for a week now, but will update this review if anything changes. ... show more
