This was so needed. You just have to start it up well in advance of a party or celebration. The ice cubes are so small and only a few comes out every few minutes. I enjoy it so much as a backup to my refrigerator ice maker. This is a must if you entertain a lot. No more buying ice bags.

    • Makes ice pretty quickly
I bought this because the ice maker in our fridge doesn’t seem to have a way to change the filter and the ice doesn’t always taste good. Especially since it’s made from tap water. I like filtered water and using tap water ice makes it not as good. So I bought this to make filtered ice. I like that it makes ice pretty quickly. What I don’t like is that it doesn’t keep the ice cold inside the machine so if I don’t get up and dump the ice into the freezer bin immediately it starts melting. And even when I do dump it as soon as it’s made it’s still very wet and clumps all together in the ice bin in the freezer. When we go to get ice it’s all frozen together and has to be smashed apart which is loud. ... show more

Bought it to take in our camper to provide ice for an ice chest and for drinks. Works really well. Best if it's in a cooler place. We've had it camping several times this summer and haven't had to buy ice once. We used to have to buy ice every other day at least. I wasn’t sure about an ice maker on the counter. Now with that said, I hate fooling with Ice Trays. It’s not a big deal of emptying them —- but I hate filling them up and I hate the mess it makes. I don’t have an ice maker in the freezer, and my home is a rental, so there was no option to install one. I picked this up, and LOVE IT. Just add some water to reservoir, turn it on and within a few minutes ICE! It’s easy to clean, and I love the ICE SIZE. (My dog loves this thing too - she thinks they are treats).
