This is a life saver!! It goes deep into all different computers!!!! Reads all the fault codes and clears them. An absolute must for garage mechanics. For the record, "Thickness" is an odd thing to rate... (at least on an ODB II Scanner). My daughters beater of a volvo (its a 2007 V50) started throwing a Power System Service Urgent light which caused her and my wife to start a flurry of urgent text messages to make sure the car was still good. Being the good dad that I am (and generally all around Mr Fix-It) i used my volt meter to check that the battery was getting a good charge (which it strangely is) and that the alternator was working ok as those are the two biggest culprits of this message (from what I can tell). When that looked ok, I pulled out my trusty little $20 ODB II scanner which I use to reset the lights in my truck all the time (thats another story all together) and to my dismay it wouldn't read the Volvo or anything the volvo was spitting out. Thats because the Sweeds use their own language and you have to have a fancy computer to talk to their cars. So I googled it up and this one came very highly recommended. Even though the Prime Shipping was a day late (and after this purchase I was a dollar short) I was finally able to diagnose the problem. The package came and it was boxed pretty neatly, I connected the cable and when said car returned from school (where its learning how to become a better first car) I was able to work through diagnosing the problem. It took me a couple of tries to find the right menu option, but the scanner itself is easy enough to navigate with the keypad and I finally found the right place. Low and Behold, its a problem with the Alternator Control Module (would you believe that is a fancy name for the Voltage Regulator?) which should be an easy fix on the alternator. I also tested this on my 07 Tundra and it read the regular ODB II system like a champ as well. Unfortunately, my child is still a little wary of my car fixing skills as I am not an automotive mechanic by trade, but this has brought me a step closer! ... show more

Had free scans run, never provided enough information, and they won't clear codes, this tool is accurate easy to use and upgrade. If you dyi with Volvo it's a must have tool. For 1 star reviewers READ applications and instructions so you order the right one for your car!

    • Check engine light came on after using it the first time
I’m not sure what to think. I don’t think this has anymore Volvo features than any other unit h wast has a ton of car profiles. I was thinking I could turn off some warning lights but when I ran the diagnostics and unplugged he unit m by check engine light came on as well as my passenger air bag. Both were fine prior so it added more problems it seems but I’m I open to acccept user error even though didn’t do anything but run the diag. Did I forget a secret spell or chant I was supposed to do? I refused to pay Volvo tons of money to fix my car and the lights. I’ll figure it out ... show more

    • Worked flawlessly for 2013 XC60
This thing is legit. I was slightly worried given the "English is not my first language" grammatical mistakes in some spots (both on Amazon and their own website), however shame on me because this thing just plain works. Saw a bunch of reviews on here/Amazon for other models that had high ratings, figured it was worth a shot. I had been struggling with 2 issues on a 2013 Volvo XC60. First was a wheel speed sensor and the second was a parking distance sensor (their are 8 on this car, some very hard to get to). This told me exactly which sensors to buy - as in, the exact location of the wheel speed sensor (front left) and the parking sensor (front inner right). Ordered the parts, cleared ALL of the ECU codes (Note: important step - gotta do this part or it won't recognize the new parts right away), and went along my way. Took a little bit to orient myself with the functions, but I'm talking maybe 10 minutes. COMPLETELY worth the cost. Would purchase again. Bryan in North Carolina ... show more

    • Volvo problems? Here's your scanner.
I have a 2012 Volvo XC60 3.0L with a “Parking Assist Error” on the dash. While I don’t give a darn about parking assist, the error message is super annoying, and you can't turn it off. So, I purchased one new sensor and guessed which one (of the 8 there are) was the problem. Since they are a pain to access, I gave up after swapping a couple and purchased this scanner. Within 5 minutes it diagnosed the “Right Front Inner” was the culprit. I switched that one out, reset the codes and voila! No more error message. This scanner is a winner. It does only work on Volvos & Saabs, of which I'll never buy another Volvo so probably won't use the scanner many more times. Still at the price I paid, it is a great tool. I wish I had purchased it a couple years ago when I diagnosed a bad MAF sensor. On that one I just made a lucky guess. This iCarsoft Scanner would have made quick work of that repair as well. Bottom line, if you need a quality scanner for your Volvo, here it is. ... show more
