  • Pokémon Pokopia - Nintendo Switch 2
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
“A Cozy Pokémon Dream That Feels Like Building Hope From Scratch” Pokémon Pokopia – Nintendo Switch 2 is one of those rare Pokémon spin-offs that swaps battles for something slower, softer, and unexpectedly heartfelt. Instead of becoming a champion, you’re becoming a caretaker of a broken world—and that change of focus makes it feel refreshingly different. You play as Ditto, transformed into a human-like form, waking up in a desolate land where humans are gone and nature has started to fade. With only a lone Tangrowth and a scattered ecosystem left behind, your job isn’t to conquer—it’s to rebuild. The core loop is incredibly satisfying. You gather materials, craft tools and furniture, restore land, and slowly attract Pokémon back into the world. What makes it special is how Pokémon themselves become part of the gameplay systems. You learn abilities from them and use those skills to shape the environment, whether it’s growing plants, crossing water, or opening new paths. It turns progression into something that feels collaborative instead of grindy. Exploration is calm but rewarding. There’s no rush, no pressure to min-max everything. Instead, the game leans into curiosity. You notice a broken area and think, “I can fix that,” then come back later with new abilities and actually do it. That loop of improvement is incredibly satisfying. Visually, it’s warm and inviting in a way Pokémon games don’t always lean into. The world starts barren but gradually becomes vibrant as you restore it, and that transformation is genuinely rewarding to watch unfold. The real strength here is atmosphere. This isn’t just a life sim with Pokémon sprinkled on top. It feels like a gentle rebuilding of a lost world where every small action matters. Even simple tasks like planting crops or designing a space feel meaningful because they contribute to something bigger. It’s not perfect, though. The pacing is intentionally slow, which won’t click for everyone. Some systems could use a bit more depth, and early progression can feel a little repetitive before your toolkit expands. But once it opens up, it becomes hard to put down. Final Verdict: Pokémon Pokopia is a peaceful, creative, and emotionally grounded spin on the franchise. It trades battles for building and chaos for calm, and it absolutely succeeds at what it sets out to do. A beautiful 5-star experience that turns restoration into its own kind of adventure. ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised by how good this game is!
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
If you enjoy both Animal Crossing and Pokemon, or are buying this for somebody who does, just buy this already. If you have an interest in Animal Crossing only, you'll probably enjoy it. If you played Pokemon games and are unsure about whether you will like this or not, while that's only something that you can answer, I was in a similar boat about being unsure whether I would like this, did not watch much gameplay, and took the leap due to all of the good things I was hearing about it, and could not be happier with my purchase. Yes, this is 100% worth the price and I would say that the time and quality of play made it well worth the purchase. This game just might be my game of the year (2026) and I would buy a Switch 2 for this game alone. It's that good. It has a unique Pokemon charm, fun innovative gameplay loop, cute and endearing graphics and interactions, semi-free roam mini worlds that serve as abandoned areas that can be built back up or torn down and built up again. I've put countless hours into enjoying the unique world within a Pokemon universe that left me exploring my creative side outside of the main storyline, which does a good job of pushing the player forward and drip feeding new gameplay mechanics. All around great game that I would recommend to any Pokemon fan, young and old. ... show more

  • Best family game ever
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
Switch 2 is my first console purchase in my entire life as well as a parent in my 30's. Our entire family of 4 created game profile per person and we all take turns playing our own profile while the rest of the family watches/comments on it. It's so amazing. For a preschooler to 1st grader (about ages 4–7), Pokémon Pokopia is very likely one of the most kid-friendly Pokémon games so far, maybe the best fit depending on the child. Why it works well for that age: Pros Very little reading pressure compared with mainline Pokémon RPGs No complicated type charts, EVs, stats, or team strategy Focus is on: building decorating collecting Pokémon farming helping Pokémon exploring Cute, slower pace with no constant battles Kids can make their own goals (similar appeal to Minecraft Creative Mode) Compared with other Pokémon games for young kids: Game Preschool / 1st grade fit Pokémon Pokopia ★★★★★ probably best Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee ★★★★★ very good first "real Pokémon" New Pokémon Snap ★★★★☆ easy, but less freedom Pokémon Scarlet/Violet ★★★☆☆ huge world but lots of reading Pokémon Sword/Shield ★★★☆☆ needs reading + battles Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl ★★☆☆☆ more old-school RPG Legends Arceus ★★☆☆☆ harder controls/action For a 4–5 year old: Pokopia is probably better. They can just wander, decorate, and enjoy Pokémon. For a 6–7 year old who is starting to read: I would probably rank: 1. Pokémon Pokopia 2. Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee 3. New Pokémon Snap The only catch: Pokopia is Switch 2 exclusive, so it is a much more expensive entry point if you don't already have the console. ... show more

  • Cleanest and most focused Pokémon experiences in years
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
There’s something genuinely refreshing about a Pokémon game that understands exactly what it wants to be. Rather than overwhelming players with unnecessary systems or bloated progression, Pokémon Champions focuses on what has always made the series special: the excitement of building a team, experimenting with strategy, and battling other trainers in meaningful ways. On the Switch 2, the game feels incredibly smooth and responsive. Battles are fast, animations are polished, and the overall presentation finally gives Pokémon the sense of scale and energy longtime fans have wanted for years. Performance stayed stable throughout my time with it, which made it easy to get completely absorbed into team building and competitive experimentation without technical distractions pulling me out of the experience. What surprised me most was how approachable the game feels while still offering a surprising amount of depth. Casual players can jump in and enjoy assembling favorite Pokémon, while more competitive-minded players will appreciate the strategic flexibility and quality-of-life improvements. It respects your time in a way many modern multiplayer-focused games struggle to do. There’s also a strong sense that the developers understand the emotional connection people have with Pokémon. The game captures that feeling of excitement you had as a kid imagining your “perfect team,” while modernizing the systems enough to make everything feel faster and more engaging. Overall, this feels like one of the cleanest and most focused Pokémon experiences in years. If you’ve been waiting for a Pokémon game that prioritizes battling, strategy, and pure fun without unnecessary filler, this is absolutely worth your time. ... show more

  • Grab this game! It's AMAZING!
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
This is an amazing game and way bigger than I expected. It’s packed with surprises I don’t want to spoil, but it’s a must-play. It gets compared to Animal Crossing a lot (especially with the real-time day/night cycle), but I think you’ll love this even if you aren’t an AC fan. It’s cute, cozy, and relaxing with no fighting. Honestly, the story, freedom, and scale feel much better than New Horizons. I've never really cared about Pokémon before, but I can't put this down! Note on the physical version: This comes with a "game key card." There is a cartridge in the box, and when you plug it in, the system downloads the game. Even though the data isn't stored on the card, the card is the key—meaning you CAN still sell it or lend it to a friend. I bought 2 copies for my family of four to share across our Switch 2s and it worked perfectly (though we loved it so much we ended up buying 4). This is way better than the digital-only codes you get in some other games that can’t be shared at all. ... show more

  • A Charming Pokémon Adventure That’s Easy to Get Into
Platform: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition: Game only
I’ve been having a really fun time with Pokémon Pokopia. It has that classic Pokémon charm, but it also feels fresh enough to keep things interesting. The world is colorful and lively, and it’s the kind of game that’s easy to pick up and play for a little while, but also easy to lose a few hours in without realizing it. One thing I really enjoyed is how approachable it is. The mechanics are simple enough that you can jump in quickly, but there’s still plenty to explore and collect if you’re someone who likes taking your time with Pokémon games. It captures that satisfying loop of exploring, discovering new Pokémon, and building out your team. Visually it looks great on the Switch as well. The environments are bright and detailed, and everything has a playful feel that fits the Pokémon universe really well. Pros: • Bright, colorful world that feels fun to explore • Easy to jump into but still engaging over time • Classic Pokémon collecting and team building • Great fit for casual play sessions Cons: • Some players may wish there were a bit more challenge • If you’ve played a lot of Pokémon games, some elements may feel familiar Overall, this is a really enjoyable Pokémon experience. If you’re a fan of the series or just want a relaxed game to unwind with, this one is definitely worth checking out. ... show more
