    • Solid, yet reasonably lightweight

This bike rack will be used on my 2 inch truck receiver as well as my 5th wheel 2 inch receiver. What I didn't realize was that the RV version will not allow one to open the end gate of my truck. Most other bike racks advertise that they do tip away, this one doesn't. Not really a deal breaker, but would have been nice to have that option. One of the reasons I looked at this type of bike rack is that I have fenders on my bike. Generally speaking, fenders interfere with other types of bike racks where the fastening/securing takes place at or on the tire. This rack secures the bike's frame with 'J' straps mounted on to a central vertical 1 inch steel shaft. I like that the fact that you can lock the 'J' hooks in place, but I found them difficult to release once in place (nothing to do with the lock). That may end up being the biggest challenge. The 'J' straps are well padded with a stiff foam rubber and non-marring. The openings for the tires are a bit wide, but they can accommodate other width tires and as such are adequate for my 1.5 inch wide tires. The whole bike rack weighs somewhere near 40+ lbs, but that's very reasonable considering the solid build. The handle allows you to easily carry and store this rack when not in use. On inspection, all parts went together well. The threaded pin that goes into the receiver gets tightened and then locked which takes away play. The same key works on all 3 locks. While still hitched, it does fold up, however; the design doesn't make the length any more compact. How often that will actually be an issue, remains open, but I don't suspect it will. The wrench tools that come with this are actually well made except for the larger of the two allen wrenches, which could have been an inch longer. It's just too short for leveraging. Overall, this is a quality built product and very solid. I'd purchase again, maybe next time just get the one designed for the truck/SUV that can tilt away while hitched. ... show more

    • Not for electric or heavy bikes!

This seems to be a sturdy and durable bike rack. Although it is very hard to get electric bikes on and off again and really for any type of bike. The electric bikes are very heavy. It takes at least three or more people to place the bikes on the rack. It is too much for 2. It is hard to use because the arms that come up and lock in place are very high compared to where the bikes actually sit. Therefore, you have to lift the bikes up and over the particular piece that helps lock your bike in place. It is too hard!! This rack is not for you if you can't do heavy and high lifting. But like I said it is well made and sturdy and does lock the bikes securely in place. ... show more

    • Bike Almost Fell Off UPDATE

Update: Today, 11/11/22, I received the replacement part from Hyperax. I received a reply to my warranty service request from one of their customer service reps, Stella, who advised that she would be sure to get it taken care of asap. Once I submitted the additional info she requested the part was actually shipped out overnight and I received it and installed it today. We're now back in good working order so I've updated my rating from 2 stars to 4 because of their response. Hopefully will not have this same problem again in the future. Thank you Hyperax for honoring your lifetime warranty! This bike rack worked great for a few months. While traveling home from our last RV road trip my wife's bike almost fell off the rack. The hook clamp completely broke off the rack and thankfully I put the wheel retaining straps on her bike, which was about the only thing holding it on. The bike rocked back and forth between the rack and rear of trailer causing some scratches to the trailer which I fortunately got most off with rubbing compound. Fortunately there was only minor damage to the bicycle. I sent an e-mail to warranty@hyperax.co with requested pictures and invoice. I am only asking for the replacement hook clamp, however have not heard back from the company and they do not have a phone number published to call them. Hopefully Hyperax will take care of this warranty matter so I can give them more stars in this rating. I have even referred a friend to them who also purchased this rack for his RV. ... show more
