This is my second purchase of this great net. My original net lasted 5 years and then started showing signs of wear and tear. This net is fantastic for skimming leaves off the surface of my in-ground pool, as well as going deep and scooping up debris from the bottom of the pool. I have a Polaris vacuum sweeper as well, but I like the idea of eliminating as much debris as possible from the bottom of the pool to preserve the health of my automatic sweeper. I am so happy I ordered this skimmer!! The overall size and quality are much better than I expected. The heavy duty frame is very durable and the price was very reasonable The scoop is nice and big and is formed to flow through the water nicely without resistance LOVE this net! I looked at pool nets at many stores and I even went to pool supply stores (way overpriced) and I like this net by far than any other nets I've seen out there. Very sturdy and strong, I have the occasional turtle, mouse and frogs and the way the bottom is built it helps to pick up debris easily. This is the second one I have bought, and I will buy it again when I wear this one out. The angled front lift's debris nicely onto the screen from the bottom of the pool (for some of the deceased mice, etc). So far, it seems pretty sturdy and what a difference it makes! The holes on this skimmer are small enough to trap all the grass that flys in from mowing so I am able to trap the grass before it sinks. It is very light and seems well constructed and with its bigger surface. I am a 57 year old woman and this skimmer makes it so much easier for me to clean the pool surface! I have bought several pool rakes from my local pool supplier but I think this one is better. Theirs have a stiffer plastic net which has its plus and minuses. They do not seem to last very long and are harder to empty. Seems I am lucky if they last the season due to sun and heat here in Texas. This rake on the other hand has a softer bag and is easy to rotate shake it and dump out which makes cleaning leaves out much faster. I was concerned with the frame being plastic but after using it the frame is very strong and no issue. I just hope it will last a full summer here and time will tell. I think after using it though that will not be a problem. Over all do not hesitate to purchase this as I will buy another when I wear this one out. ... show more

I have 14" x 5' limestone slabs as coping for my inground 20'x40' pool. The poolside edge of the limestone coping is a rough cut. for some reason pieces of the limestone have been flaking off the edge and into the pool pretty much ever since I installed the coping. I wish I knew why this is happening. My brother in law has the exact same pool and hasn't had a problem with his limestone coping. Anyway, some of the pieces of limestone are rather large and my automatic pool cleaner wasn't picking them up. I couldn't vacuum them up either because I was afraid the stone chips might get caught somewhere in my skimmer lines going to the pump. So I bought this. I have used it 2-3 times already and seems to be of good construction. It fits a standard skimmer pole and the mesh basket is a good size. Oh, and I use it for leaves too which works as advertised. I would recommend it. By the way, if anyone reading this has any thoughts on why my limestone coping is falling apart, please e-mail me: [email protected] Thanks. 5-5-15 Update: I can't believe its been 5 years. Anyway, I just pulled this out of storage and tried to use it the other day as I was opening the pool (and still have issues with my limestone coping) and it was cracked. I noticed the plastic is eroding as well. Still works but not as well being part of it has cracked. I will however buy another one as the price is right and 5 years for any kind of pool equipment is pretty good. ... show more

If you have heavy bottom leaves, you know you need good "net technique" and "pole skills" to efficiently get leaves in the bag. I hate doing the job, but it can be done more quickly if I poke, push, pull, lift, and twist the net correctly like some kind of Jedi Master. I've developed these skills over many pool seasons. But the design of this deep bag rake has me confounded. Read on... The net's shortcomings are discovered when netting leaves flat on the pool bottom. I'll agree with another reviewer that said you need to find just the right angle to coax the leaves over the rim's leading edge and into the net. Secondly, the bag's large size is nice, but because the net mouth is also large (from front to back), many leaves already scooped up can escape back out if it gets too full (while doing the aforementioned expert net moves). So the deep-bag advantage is nullified because I still have to empty it frequently to prevent losing captured leaves. This rake still has some pros. For the price, the material and construction are ok. The net needs to be sheer to capture smaller debris, so keep that in mind and don't drag it across the pool deck, etc. It's delicate, but no more so than any other net I've used. The net is wide and holds a lot and this makes it great for scooping up floating leaves like a champ. I'm using it a lot, but it still frustrates me when trying to scoop the straggler leaves on the bottom. Too many leaves are getting passed over and it burps out before it's really full. I don't think I'll get this design again. ... show more

This net is the best. Why ? Because after you have collected the leafs from your pool? I just hold it up over my fence. I then quickly rotate it such the the net with the gunk swings and ends up above with the net opening face downwards and then the net falls through the opening while turning inside out in the orders and dumping all the gunk on the ground. So it’s really east to empty it. This is the only rake that work like this. ... show more
