  • It works!
Size: 430XH
I am so very pleased with this product. I have a half acre lawn at my second home, and I was spending a lot of money paying a landscaping service to mow the lawn. I'm not here for chunks of the mowing season so mowing myself wasn't an option, and anyway this cost less than a sit down mower. Just the fact that it works at all is amazing to me, and is a testament to an incredible piece of engineering. Well done team Husq! Is some part of my 5* review due to the fact that I like gadgets? Yes it is. My neighbors are all jealous as hell. If I had it to do over I'd probably pay to have someone install it. It isn't particularly hard, but it took some time and there is a learning curve. I didn't have to mess around much after I finally got the ground wire in. I'm pretty technically comfortable, but if you have doubts it would be nice to have someone get it running for you. There is a lot of good YouTube content to help if you do it yourself. The software is pretty straightforward. One major issue I had to solve is that my home is remote and has no cell service, so I also had to put in an LTE network extender. It would be nice if it could work directly from Wifi in addition to a cell network, but I can see why they chose the cell network. I get additional utility from the LTE network extender (phones work) so it isn't a problem. My yard has some significant slopes as well as a culvert, and the mower has no problems at all. The ability to run the guide wires to difficult to reach sections is well considered. I have a chunk of lawn that goes through about a 6 foot gap and the mower finds its way back there every now and again. One minor note is that this mower DOES NOT work like a traditional mower where once it passes over a section of lawn you get a nice uniform length cut. At first I was wondering if the rotor was even spinning. But from an engineering standpoint it makes sense. There is a very light spinning rotor with 4 very small retractable razor blades. There isn't a lot of kinetic energy so if your mower runs over something it isn't ruined. The mower needs to be running considerably more often to keep your lawn tended. but who cares, you are not doing the mowing! You need to tune the number of hours per day the motor is running to keep your lawn nice while not putting too much wear and tear on the lawn. But the end result is your lawn always looks really nice and is more or less always the right length. Now the only question is how many years of service will I get out of it? As long as it makes it past 2 summers I'll continue to invest in this technology. ... show more

  • Excellent with a couple surprises
Size: 420iQ
Does excellent job, surprised it does cutting now by mower blade but by razor blades that require monthly replacement, thankfully those are very cheap. Loses satellite signal under trees, had to make exclusion zones there and manually mow part of yard still. Robomower does 90% of the yard though.

  • Does not work in ANY yard
Size: 410iQ
If you live in a suburban area I would avoid the 410 iQ, or any of the EPOS models, at all costs. While it works great out back and out front it immediately looses GPS signal on the sides of the house. Basically it can never travel between the front and back. Not a problem, so I think, I'll go through the massively grueling effort of laying down boundary and guide wires and use the Support by Wire function. Guess what, it doesn't actually work in any logical way whatsoever nor is there any real documentation to explain how it is supposed to work. Even in the app when you click on more info under Support by Wire you get a 404 error. Good stuff. Instead of deferring to the boundary and guide wires when the signal is lost, it just sits there forever searching for a GPS signal until it errors out. The more maddening aspect is I can see in the app that it is sitting directly on top of the guide wire (the automower is reading the guide wire) and it shows its proper location on the map. Even with weak GPS it knows where it is but just refuses to move. The manual is completely wrong on how certain things are supposed to function, where menus are on the mower, etc. I can set it to by a non GPS function version and try the only boundary wire setup, but then why did I spend all this money for a model that does advanced GPS things like systematic mowing, etc. I've worked with technology for well over 20 years and this is by far the most undocumented and frustrating device I have ever encountered in my life... by a wide margin. So far it's just pure expensive outdoor paperweight. I can't see how this is a good value for your money in this sort of suburban setup. If you got a large yard with 100% no tree cover or buildings, this is the one for you. ... show more
