Fan was really nice! Quiet! What I did not like was how it was delivered. Order states delivered to my back door or near my back door. It was not. It was at my FRONT door. Picture they had in the email even showed it was my front door. Box came damaged and taped up with shipping label on top of it. We were lucky the fan was not damaged. The whole corner looked smashed before they taped and shipped it to us. If I had been at a store, I would never have picked out this box as to how it was damaged. ... show more

Hunter has higher quality fans than any other company, even a small one like this. It doesn't have a remote but it operates very quietly if you have a skilled person install it so that it is level. If it makes noise it probably isn't level.

    • Transformer-like humming noise despite rubber parts

This fan kit is well-put-together. Big rubber grommets for the fan blades and rubber pads against the ceiling. Gorgeous glass around the E26 A15 bulbs. (reviewers saying these are "candelabra bulbs" are wrong, these are E26 standard socket, they're just short because they're A15 bulbs not A19, and the bulb temperature is 3000K which may be too white for people who prefer warm white (2700K)). Unfortunately, on the highest speed there is still a transformer-like humming generated by the coils in the motor transmitted to the ceiling and fan blades. The mount against the ceiling uses rubber feet that are likely too firm to be properly noise-insulating. I should have put soft foam between the ceiling mount and the ceiling, but after 2 hours of installation I did not want to do everything again. Hunter should revise the ceiling mount to add better vibration insulation, so that humming doesn't transmit to the ceiling. I'm not sure how much of the humming is transmitting to the fan blades. For those who know physics, humming from the motor coils only makes noise if it transmits to a lightweight object with large surface area that acts like a speaker, such as the ceiling or blades. Despite Hunter's claim of "Whisper Wind technology", their motors hum like any other AC motor, with that characteristic 60hz tone and its harmonics 120hz, 240hz, etc. The difference is they actually do a decent job of using vibration-insulating parts, but it's just not enough. For a hundred bucks, I expected zero humming noise, and was disappointed. Also my fan was a little wobbly, but I was able to use the included balancing kit to find the optimal spot to put one weight that removed the wobble. Please do this to your fan, in only takes 20 or 30 minutes to remove years of wobbling. The chinese contractor wood company they use for the blades apparently makes blades that vary in weight, disappointing. ... show more
