The charger that came with my Ryobi RY48ZTR100 is only usable with AGM batteries (4x12V for 48V charging), so I needed to get a new charger to switch to a 48V LiFePO4. This unit does both. In fact, I got it before the battery swap to see if the repair cycle could bring some life back to my original AGM batteries. It did! In fact, it probably doubled the run time I was getting on my 4-year-old AGMs. Unfortunately, that was still only about 1/6 what they could do when new, so it was suggested that I try another repair cycle. BAD IDEA! After the second repair cycle, the batteries were totally ruined. So, 1 REPAIR = BETTER, 2 REPAIR = DESTROYED. I'm pretty sure this is because the four 12V batteries were not well balanced during charging, as the Ryobi doesn't have any balancing circuitry. Anyway, it was time to get new batteries, and this charger has worked great with the single 48V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery that I replaced the AGMs with, as you see in the 1st photo. The 48V LiFePO4 has internal charge balancing which works very well, so I'm expecting this arrangement to last a very long time. The only catch is that I had to swap the charger plugs between this and the original Ryobi, as described in the 2nd photo, in order to be able to plug this into the charging port on my Ryobi. The connectors look externally identical, but there is a little tab inside that otherwise would keep it from being fully plugged in. This supply only has two output wires, so optionally, the 3rd pin on the connector, Earth, can be connected to Ground via a 3300 ohm 1W resistor so that the Ryobi charging indicator light will work. The pin swap in the connectors takes just a few minutes using a screwdriver to open and close the connector shells. It's a little silly, but I've also 3D-printed a little nameplate that warns the charging port now goes to a 48V LiFePO4 -- just in case I or anyone else would be tempted to use one of the original Ryobi chargers on it in the future. ;-) ... show more

Excellent charger - fast, easy and 20 pounds lighter than the original charger. Easy to set up and use. One of the best features of this charger is its versatility.
