  • Printer did not include pin code for 2 years of ink services Printer did not include pin code for 2 years of ink services
I purchased this despite some of the reviews commenting on the printer not being ready for prime time; however, it was Black Friday, so I took a chance. I set up the printer, which is nice; hardware issues seem to have been resolved. I go to the website 2YearsInk.HPInstantInk.com per the sticker on the printer. The website asks for the pin code, and I locate my "8 months" of hassle-free printing pin code. I think, surely, this must be a mistake, and they meant to include a 2-year pin code. I enter the pin code; not valid. I enter the printer code; not valid. I search the box and all materials; no pin code. I call the number; "outside working hours." So yes, not ready for prime time. I may update my review when I get through, waiting on hold to talk to someone at HP. This is a small business printer. Business owners are busy people; we have businesses to run. Disappointed that HP has not thought better of their customer's time. This could have been handled so much better. Follow-up #1 (Dec 5, 2020): I talked with Mary at HP technical support today. After waiting on hold for 30 minutes, I was connected. She was nice enough, but after 45 minutes, including emailing my Amazon receipt and pictures from the box materials, I find that she cannot do anything to help. All we did was effectively follow the 8-month process (of free ink, $40 value), and I created an HP account with this prepaid amount. I am now expecting a call from HP after reviewing with upper management to resolve what comes next. Luckily, I have an option to return until Jan 31, 2021. That may very well be the case if not resolved satisfactorily. -- Not satisfied with HP, I contacted Amazon with a much more helpful result. I talked with Jimwell, who was knowledgeable and helpful. The net difference between what HP has provided ($40, which equates to 100 pages/month subscription) and the 2 years (300 pages/month) is $200. Amazon helped immediately by providing a 15% discount (which does not cover the full difference), but it is a start. HP is due to contact me on Dec 14. More to follow. Amazon (Jimwell) closed with please contact us after you talk with HP, "we have your back." Not fully resolved but much, much better support. Upped rating to two-stars based on Amazon improvement. -- Follow-up #2 (December 14, 2020): I received a call from HP Instant Ink today. It was a quick call that respected my time. They credited an extra $288 to my account (on top of the $40 previously). I have upped the rating to 5 stars as the product is good, and although it was inconvenient to have to go through this process, both Amazon and HP have delivered upon customer service. The result is that the cost of the printer is effectively 3 years of a printing-as-a-service arrangement. I will still require paper, but the ink is no longer a consideration, and the printer prints well. If no follow-ups from this one, then all has gone well with ink deliveries and performance. Thank you - I hope that the review is helpful. csbeau ... show more

  • All home offices need this printer All home offices need this printer
1 YEAR UPDATE STILL THE BEST PRINTER I’VE EVER PURCHASED. I honestly don’t understand the bad reviews. Let me clear a few things up. *No insta-ink is NOT A SCAM. *YES you get 2 years free ink. I still have $154 dollars left on my account and I print A LOT. I just upped my plan to 500 pages per month. Do the math. Insta-ink is not a ripoff. It’s very reasonable *You don’t have to subscribe to use this printer *you don’t have to have a HP account, internet or give a credit card number to use the printer *set up is extremely easy *you DO NOT have to be tech savvy to set up or use this printer Hope this helps with your decision because this printer makes my work day easier I wish I could give 10 ⭐️ I set up the printer in under 10 minutes. Super easy. Print quality is amazing. The HP Smart App is a game changer. To be able to scan receipts from my phone and fax, email out print from anywhere is a home office dream. ... show more

  • Very happy with this printer
I had my last printer for several years and was dismayed when it finally kicked the bucket. I found myself overwhelmed by the choices as I browsed the internet for a replacement. To make matters worse, I had forgotten how expensive a good printer could be. I needed a printer with scanning capabilities - double sided, automatic loading. I also wanted one which inexpensive ink replacements and good color print quality. Also important was the aesthetics! Functionality is first but if I have to look at it everyday I also want it to be cute! My last printer was black, and I wanted another small, understated unit. Apparently, that was asking too much as my research continued to bring up all white printers - eye sore! I didn't exactly jump for joy when I came across this silver and black model. I bit the bullet and I'm so glad I did. The printer is smaller than I imagined and it looks great. It has great print quality and fast scanning capabilities. It cost more than I wanted to pay initially, but I am very happy with my purchase and would buy this printer again! ... show more

  • BUY A DIFFERENT BRAND OF PRINTER ! Read Please - you need to evaluate based on your needs.
UPDATE July 31 2020 Since Feb 2020 the printer has been a disaster ! I does not do what it is supposed to do ... print ! On the phone with HP Tech support for way too many hours adding up to over 7 hours of nonsense. They took over my computer over the internet and tried to get the printer to work. Now it is July 31 and I finally yesterday got a replacement printer after having to use my credit card for a guarantee of returning the crap printer ! Tech support said the directions to make the change over was in the box. NOT !!!! No instruction but to go to a HP link. The HP link was a general link with NOTHING about print head changeover that involves taking the print head from my crap printer and putting it into the replacement printer. So after google searching I found a procedure and performed it. Tech support now has limited hours ! Thanks HP !!! I was able to move the print head with cartridges to the replacement printer. I turned the replacement printer on and the screen came up and says that all the ink cartridges in the printer are usable in the replacement printer ! Because they were used in a different printer. SO NOW I HAVE TO THROW AWAY ALL MY PRINT CARTRIDGES ???? So will HP extend my warranty for the four months of having a crap printer that does not work ??? So will HP replace the print cartridges that I have to throw our ??? WHAT DO YOU THINK ???? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original post: Details below: 1) Printer Ink for 2 years included: Scam - you have to sign up and have the printer on line so it can phone home to report low ink only then will you get the low ink. So you only get the ink you need up to a max per month ! 2) do not be surprised if the printer stops several times in the middle of a large print job. The printer screen will explain that it is waiting for the paper to dry. Huh ? 3) Auto-Shutdown : Printer shuts down after a selectable time with a max of 8 hours up time. So my printer is in a remote room and I have to go push the power button whenever I need to use the printer. 4) WiFi connection kept failing and the printer would erase the WiFi password so I have to re-enter it very day. 5) Tech support: spent hours on three days, three different agents, trying to get the printer to not fail WiFi and not shut off. Tech support FAILED on all of this. Seems there is no fix. I even had the tech support take over my PC and the printer to go in and adjust setting. But still no go. Printer has latest firmware ! 6) Printer keeps going to its blue screen of death (printer screen is blue with an icon of the power button indicating to push the power button to reset.). I have to go and hit the power button to reset it. So this morning the printer is off again. When it does the auto off the screen turns blue and it shows a power button symbol with a numeric code. Tech support does not know what the code means. But I have to press the power button to get use of the printer. My arm is not long enough to reach from my PC to the printer down the hall in a far distant room ! Print quality is good and I did a lot of double sided color printing (auto scans two sides and than can print two sided) that all went OK. BUT A PAIN TO USE !!! Have to keep resetting it ! So gave up and used a B&W printer. ... show more

  • Update: (Replacement is Great!) There's not much to review when it's broken out of the box.
Updated Review (Original Below): The new printer works great with my Mac and the auto duplexer is a nice touch. I struggled a bit at first, but a functional one is pretty damn easy to setup and use. The HP software is clean and well designed. Despite there being a bit of a snag on the first go around, overall I'm very pleased. This printer was simply broken upon arrival. The paper try would not adjust to fit 8.5x11 paper. I was able to finagle it to print the alignment page, but after that, it simply would not go. Pros: 1. Unboxing and printer set-up documentation is clear and easy to understand. 2. Guided set-up is easy. Cons: 1. Well, it's broken out of the box. 2. Support was basically not helpful in the situation because it was a physical problem that was difficult to explain over the phone. Eventually they gave up and said they would just mail me a new one. While I appreciate the offer, I have no interest in swapping a printer that was broken to begin with. I'll simply use the touchless return from Amazon and order from a different manufacturer. I had previously sworn off HP printing products for lack of quality and support. I had decided to gamble on this one and take on chance hoping things have improved. There are a number of high quality reviews for this printer, so your milage may vary. ... show more

  • We love this printer
I could hardly believe that you could buy a home printer that even lets you scan stacks of papers through a feeder and can handle double sided scanning, printing and copying no less! We connected it into our network and after downloading hp software to our laptops, everyone can initiate printing from their own laptop. We have had the printer for about a year now and are still pleased with all its features. We use the automatic ink service. It feels a bit controlling; there are a bunch of rules and they decide when to send you ink, but if you can get over that part, it is super convenient. We never have to worry about buying ink and we are never out of ink. ... show more

  • HP hasn't let me down yet!
After 13 years with FEMA, and working with HP machines all that time, I know how durable and dependable they are. At home, we have HP laptops and now (thanks to my insistence) an HP printer. This one is no exception to the quality that HP builds into their printers. The technology is great. We can print from our phones, no matter where we are. The print jobs are always top notch, even pictures come out great. Adding this printer to our home network was a snap, as was finding it with our laptops and loading the software. I may have a slight advantage, being an IT manager for so long. But, even if I weren't, this still would have been a breeze. I also like this program of getting ink whenever I need it, shipped to me with no hassle, especially the first two years for FREE. How can you beat that deal? Very happy with HP and this all in one. Five stars. ... show more

  • Price is not as high as it seems.
I liked how the printer is well packaged and easy to remove. The entire printer is wrapped in a bag that allows for easy removal from the box and foam support falls right off. The printer was easy to set up and configure to the network, the configuration is via an app you get to by scanning a QR code on your smart phone. The printer was configured fast and added to my computers in no time. No akward typing on a tiny screen. The price is actually lower when you consider the two years of ink included in the price. My account shows a 250+ balance upon installation. Wish it had an extra tray. ... show more
