Best printer!
This is the best printer that I have ever owned. It came recommended to me by a family member and did not disappoint! I did not have to replace ink for THREE years. That was unbelievable because my other printers cost me SO much in ink. It prints very well and is easy to use in my home office.

Buy this printer from a different vendor.
Great printer. My new ET3850 malfunctioned at wk#6. Vendor told me to return to them but refused to provide paid return label. Amazon CS got involved —vendor THEN changed story and said they could do nothing since my problem happened AFTER 30 days. Sadly, Amazon’s “A-Z Guarantee” was promised to me in writing, then withdrawn in an automated email. Each time I invested my time in calling Amazon, I spoke with a human being who seemed to really want to help me and my small business solve this. However, this seller simply went silent. And my Amazon “return status” still shows “requesting return label from seller” and “seller says unable to take back because +30 days’. Since Amazon delivers stuff to me most days of the week, I hoped for better support from them especially with a large ticket item like this. Finally, with no resolution from either this seller or Amazon, I contacted Epson CS with photos illustrating the problem (same as I’d done for the seller & Amazon). In under 10 minutes, the tech rep confirmed that I was under warranty and arranged for me to receive a new replacement machine and return the defective printer at Epson’s expense. Unclear why this had to become so difficult/contentious, but going forward, I will NEVER again buy items like this from Amazon. I will buy at Costco instead, with the certainty that if I bring something for return, I’ll be refunded and treated with respect. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen here. ... show more

Epson has lost its quality
I'm a longtime Epson user. I am a photographer and have loved my Pro 3880 for years. It's still going strong and I hope it never stops. I also have a WF-3720 that is working just fine. But a couple of years ago I decided to jump on the Ecotank bandwagon and bought an ET-3830. It refused to stay connected to my home network, so I returned it. When I discovered the ET-3850, I researched it and found no problem regarding network connection, so I bought it. Its sheet feeder was completely non-functional, but I didn't discover that until it was too late to return, so I contacted Epson and they replaced it with a refurb. The refurb feeds better than its predecessor but still fails frequently. On Friday the refurb lost its connection to my home network, as the 3830 had done previously. I spent the weekend trying to reconnect it with no success, either via the app or the panel. This was despite the fact that my iMac showed a full five bars of signal strength. And it was sitting right next to the WF-3720, which had no connectivity problem. This morning I tried some more, then gave up and started to contact Epson. As I did, the connection came back up all by itself. How long will it stay connected? Who knows? Even when it manages to connect to my network it takes sometimes 30 seconds to print a text page and minutes to print a page with anything graphic on it. I can only conclude that Epson's current printers have a faulty connection system and poor quality control on the autofeeder. I won't buy Epson again. ... show more

What happened to plug and play? Not this machine.
Here's the good: I've used one of these for years and was very happy with it -- until a massive power surge (courtesy of my electric company) fritzed out the wireless capabilities. Epson's ink tank design is a massive step up in cost and convenience (less storage space, easier to refill) compared to traditional inkjet cartridges. The savings are tangible. The bad: it took me 2.5 hours to install. I had issues with bad drivers and a firmware update that would crash. I placed two support calls to Epson -- one of which was worthwhile (unfortunately it was the second one). I've been using printers since the Xerox 630 Diablos in the mid 80's; this the most cumbersome installation procedure I have ever used. What should take a few minutes required support calls, poring over largely useless documentation (either not simple enough, or too simple), and countless false starts. Once it works, it works flawlessly. (But I don't remember my first machine being this hard to install.) I'd give it 2-3 stars if it not for my previous positive experience. ... show more

Sooo much INK!! I literally had to laugh!
Coming from a fussy cartridge printer that was almost never happy with it's ink levels; always demanding new cartridges and refusing to print black and white because I was "low on Cyan". So I open the box and I'm immediately met with what I can only describe as LAUGHABLE amounts of ink! And it's ALL MINE meaning I'm not going to be throwing half of it away in the form of purportedly "empty(tm)" cartridges. Boy oh Boy! Well, setup went fine even though I have odd preferences (changing names, wired only, manual IP, etc...). It was as flexible as I needed it to be. The control panel isn't touch screen so it's a bit fussy for this amount of input but I knew that going in. Not much of an issue day-to-day. Print quality seems fine; I'm not an artist or photographer. I love that the paper tray holds 250 sheets. Printing and scanning working fine from our Macs and airprint working fine from mobile devices without needing any downloads. By which I mean to say in my opinion don't install the Epson software if it's not needed -- leave well enough alone. Glad that it doesn't use heated printheads (it was the heat that killed our old Canon). My only complaint so far is the power button which "breathes" (brightens and dims) continuously when on standby and the brightness cannot be adjusted. Well a bit of blue tape will take care of that I guess. Happy printing! ... show more

Great printer!
My husband bought this printer to replace on that stopped working after so many years although it took a bit to set it up, love how quiet it is, how easy our devices can connect and the best part..it’s completely wireless! The design and ink tank is supposed to save money…so time will tell. It’s a little bigger than our old printer, but still compact. I love how the tray is automatically comes out when printing and then can hide away when not being used at the touch of a button. I think it’s a good investment ... show more

LOW INK USEAGE
Purchased this Epson printer a year ago and the ink levels are displaying at the half way mark. did not add one drop of ink in over a year. I'm a home casual user that copies documents and prints from the internet. It is not a quality photo printer, save that for Walmart. I'm amazed how little ink i have used. The other printer company ( I will only use the first letters...HP) would have soaked me for at least three sets of ink for one year. Only whished they had a touch screen for commands, but not a deal breaker. ... show more

Ink: Bought this in December 2023. It is now almost August 2024. Ink is not even halfway gone. And it is the ink that comes in the box. Paper tray: I bought this one for the paper tray. It is right under where the printed paper comes out. It allows for much more paper and is way more sturdier than the cheaper models. Set-up process: Easy. Not a lot of trouble like other brands. Connects through wifi Printing: Make sure to calibrate it right. Otherwise prints fast and good. Copying papers: easy to copy paper. Love that. Scanning: If you wanna scan items to your computer buy the cord for it. It’s a normal printer USB cable. Otherwise the process is time consuming. The screen: easy screen to read. Not to hard to understand. Love it. It ain’t trying to be fancy like other brands. Updating: Easy. Takes a little time. But not many updates. I maybe have had 1 or 2 updates within like 9 months. ... show more
