This is a capable all-in-one printer with nearly everything I need for a home office. Text documents look sharp, colors are clear and vibrant, and printing is reasonably fast. Automatic two-sided printing and the document feeder are especially useful when working with longer documents. Setup took some time because the printer needed to connect to Wi-Fi, update itself, and complete the HP app installation. Once everything was configured, wireless printing worked reliably from both my computer and phone. The touchscreen is responsive and makes copying, scanning, and changing basic settings easy. The 225-sheet paper tray is a nice improvement over smaller home printers, and the printer provides scanning, copying, faxing, and color printing without taking up an unreasonable amount of space. The included Instant Ink trial may also be useful for someone who prints regularly. The main disadvantage is that this model is designed to use chipped HP cartridges. Compatible third-party cartridges may be rejected, particularly after a firmware update, so the long-term ink cost should be considered before purchasing. The Instant Ink subscription also begins charging after the trial unless it is canceled. Overall, the print quality and features are excellent for a home office. I would give it five stars for performance, but the HP ink restriction brings my rating down to four. ... show more

Well packaged, good looking printer that will fit any office decor. Easy setup, though if you run into issues, just follow the instructions, or google it, not that hard to setup. Setup for me took about 20 minutes, as once connected to wifi it had to run updates. Prints look good, and the noise when printing was minimal. Love the size and how it fits my home office. HP tend to be reliable printers for me over the years, but there is one thing I hate that people should know. For the past few years, HP and others have blocked the ability to use 3rd party cartridges through their firmware. You can ONLY use HP cartridges, which means ink cost go up. They now have a subscription model for their ink, which depending on how much you print can be a good value or bad. I hate that these companies are disabling features to the customer. I paid for the printer, I should be able to use 3rd party ink, which is always cheaper. Now they get to disable features and force you to them under the disguise that it's for security. If you don't wish to go down that road, maybe look into laser printers. That's where the two stars are removed. ... show more

The printer itself is great. The print quality is good, its fast, the top feeder works great, I was excited as soon as we pulled it out of the box. It's been awhile since I had an all-in-one and this looks like a miniature office machine. When setting it up, I was quickly reminded of one of the reasons I wasn't going to get this brand again. I'm not a fan of installing product software instead of a simple driver. They really push having an account and installing their software. You can find directions for bypassing these, but there are more hoops than there used to be. I ended up just installing the software any way. Once I gave up, everything was easy. The other thing to be aware of is that the printer is designed to work with HP ink only. If the printer doesn't detect the required chip, it will not work. This is frustrating because the branded ink is often 70% more than the generic. There are times when it's cheaper to get a new printer on sale with smaller included cartridges, then getting a new set of ink alone. I've actually been using a laser printer for the past few years because of that. The toner's chipped too though, so it's more for the efficiency. I'm probably going to continue to use my laser for quick black and white prints to prolong the life of this one some. Overall the printer seems great and being a HP, I expect this to work for years. If it didn't require it's costly ink, I'd give it five stars. ... show more

I am ver happy with this printer! I had been using a giant work printer for years, but In moving to a new (smaller) home, I was looking for something more compact. This one is much smaller than what I was working with before - and looks clean and classy on my desk, while still having all of the features I needed - plus more. The best part about it so far - the set up was ACTUALLY easy!!! The instructions were clear to follow and it only took a few minutes to get it up and running with the software installed on both my computer and phone for easy wireless printing. I have never had a wireless printer before and I’m so excited about it. It is SO nice to not have to connect with a cord. A lot of people are complaining that it only uses HP ink - but that was clear from the listing. I thought it was awesome that it came with ink so I could start printing right away. There is a free trial of “smart ink” which you can do if you print a lot - it’s supposed to be more economical- but since I don’t print a ton, I did not opt to try that. Could be a good option for some, though. I am hoping this continues to work well - will try to update my review if anything changes, but so far, so good! ... show more
