  • Prints fine. Had lots of trouble trying to sign up for toner program
I got the printer set up and able to start printing wireless fairly quickly. As usual the small manual that comes with the printer very bare bones. Spent two hours trying to sign up for their toner program but couldn't get either my computer or phone to link with printer.....even though I can print wirelessly from my computer. Finally cancelled my application. I didn't call for assistance because I was afraid I would lose that. HP website not very good, in my opinion. Couldn't get it to recognize my new printer during registration...again despite wireless printing that worked. I am in my 70's and perhaps that is the problem. In summary, seems like a nice printer but way harder than it should be to navigate website. Went back to Amazon and bought a spare toner cartridge. ... show more

  • Defective by Design
On a *purely* technical level, this is a legitimately well-built and thoughtfully engineered device, and the printer is more than happy to work without an internet connection whatsoever, using all of the same protocols that have been standard for well over a decade now. Unfortunately, it renders itself a brick after about 15 pages unless you let HP (or any malicious actor with sufficient access to HP's servers) exfiltrate whatever data they want from it. I believe you might be able to circumvent this by doing a factory reset every time, but let's not kid ourselves. Nobody is going to do this. Because these protocols have been standardized for so long, any printer outside of specialty cases does not require an app to function in the modern day. There might be a couple more features, but it's *entirely optional*. You do not *need* the app. They need *you* on the app. If it weren't for this, I would be extremely happy and praising this device for being an excellent product to anyone who cared to listen to me ramble about a printer, but now we're here at the opposite end of the spectrum. Don't be misled, the 'e' (short for 'e-waste') in the model number and the 'HP+' (short for 'hateful printer plus!') branding means that this is an insidiously invasive piece of future garbage that will end up polluting landfills in a few years (if you're *lucky*, exactly two years after the last one rolls off the assembly line and the model gets discontinued, which will probably be soon judging by the price drops) when they inevitably decide to stop supporting it to get you to buy the next one. This is an absolutely disgusting anti-consumer practice and should not be rewarded with your hard-earned money. They subsidize this model with your data, the 'standard' printer that doesn't come with 'premium features' (mostly selling your data and having so much planned obsolescence it'd make Bernard London blush) costs about twice as much at the time of writing. It's safe to say that it'll be the frequency of printing, your location (including GPS data, instead of just IP-based and wireless SSID-based geolocation techniques. Why does it have GPS? Not any reason that's bound to be a good one for you, that's for sure. It's visible right there in the web portal, which is quite fun to discover.), if you use their ink subscription service, how often you replace the cartridge, what types of paper you commonly use, how much you use the scanner, if you primarily use the ADF or the flatbed section of the scanner, how many pages you print at a time, how many devices are on your local network, the MAC addresses of those devices (to sell for better correlation of households and habits), what type of devices they are, and so on and so forth. It's simply not enough for you to give them your hard-earned cash for the product *and* the consumables for the product, (since this is a 'plus' printer instead of a 'standard' printer, it doesn't allow for third-party cartridges, so it will either come from HP or nowhere at all) *you* have to become their product too. This all comes together form a *comically* anti-consumer device on the whole and this practice *should not* be rewarded in any way, shape, or form. It should be derided for the disgusting and ethically bankrupt thing it is. *Please* don't waste your time and money. You deserve much better than this. ... show more

  • Disables printing after a few pages until you create an online account!
Disables printing until you create an account with HP and promise to use HP toner! I was going to use HP toner, but wow this is the most aggressive account and app requirements I have ever seen.

  • INSTANT INK HAS CONDITIONS **BE CAREFUL**
If you obtain INK via the Instant Ink program and then later discontinue, the printer will not recognize the cartridge! You either have to re-enroll or throw it away.

  • hate how they push their ink subscription; prints fine.
Installed the printer using ethernet connection. Installation went relatively smooth. Although if you want to scan you have to do a bit of work. You cannot scan from the control panel like my previous HP inkjet printer could. But I hate how they push their ink subscription on you. For many home printers even the cheapest subscription does not make sense. ... show more

  • Great Toner Printer
This printer is inexpensive, heavy duty, fast printing and the scan feature is dynamite. I had no issues installing it and networking it between offices and on mobile phones. For the price you can't beat it. I always swear by HP as a Notary who has printed a ton of docs over the years.

  • HO Copier
Like the product. There is a problem with the product that we do not know how to fix. The light that is used to indicate the number of copies that wilt be printed is not functional. How do we fix the problem without sending the entire unit back for repair? We need your response. ASAP. Thank you.
