    • This thing is a piece of junk; DO NOT BUY.
I’ll start by saying that I purchased a HP CN598A#B1H Officejet Pro X576dw printer 11/14, and had over 11 years service with the thing without any major problems before the mother of all paper jams occurred. Based on this experience, I decided to buy another HP product as a replacement. Purchased an HP MFP 3301 SDW 1/26. This thing is a piece of junk; DO NOT BUY. • Upon receipt of the printer, I encountered the infamous HP connectivity issues. Eventually, I had to give up entirely on the wireless connection since my PC could never find the printer on the network. (And yes, Other printers on the network appear on the print menus and work fine) I had to eventually resort to a wired connection. No big deal in my case due to printer location, but undoubtably a show-stopper for others. • The next problem occurred 2 weeks after purchase. With double-sided print is set on pop up print menu, the printer printed all odd-numbered pages in range, single-sided, then all even pages, also single sided. Printer worked OK prior to this. I have never in my life encountered an activity as useless and frustrating as dealing with HP “AI help”. Suffice it to say that over an hour was spent on the web with no result, before any opportunity occurred to talk to a human being. If you think voicemail hell was bad, wait until you try HP “AI help”! Problem turned out to be that the HP software somehow loaded the wrong driver. Why this occurred several weeks after the initial (Apparently correct) installation remains a mystery as I certainly did not modify the printer driver. Suffice it to say, it took another hour, including the obligatory telephone disconnect and repeat, before this issue was identified. • Since then, the printer often, not always, prints an extra sheet at the end of print job, with one line of text reading “PCL XL error”. Problem comes and goes without explanation. I have never developed the stomach necessary to again contact HP “AI help” on this issue- I much prefer to just waste a sheet of paper with every other print job rather than go through pointless HP “AI Hell” again. • On start-up, since day one, the printer frequently goes into a loop, endlessly displaying the “scrolling dots of death”. Usually more than 1 cold boot of printer is required to obtain a successful start-up. • There have also been several instances where, for unexplained reasons, the printer decided to print B&W, despite all printer settings set to color. • Once I exhaust the current print cartridges, this thing is likely going into the recycle bin. Suffice it to say that I will never again in my life buy an HP product. ... show more

    • Finally, a printer that just works!
This is just what I needed. I’m super picky about printers. I can’t stand liquid ink printers because I don’t need to use them very often, so with liquid ink cartridges, they are always dried up by the time I need to print something again. The color laser solves this with dry toner. It’s dry, so it does not dry out over time. So you don’t end up wasting a ton of ink with sparse use. The other benefit is it prints FAST and in high quality. I used to have an older model of these, and this one is even faster warming up. Printing a ton of pages or copies is just silly fast. I haven’t had to buy new toner yet, but I know they are expensive and the printer claims to have a chip in the replacement cartridge that vendor locks you into HP official toner. It doesn’t bother me, because I know that I’ll probably only need to buy new toner after a few years. So for me, this is a great personal printer. It doesn’t jam, it can scan and copy, it prints fast, and I don’t have to worry about the off chance I have to print something and find my ink cartridges are dried up. Don’t mess around with liquid ink cartridges, get this color laser printer, and you’ll have a printer for life not some crappy piece of junk that can’t spool paper well. ... show more
