  • Reliable but not very strong.
Good bike, but not very powerful. I've been using it for probably a little less than a year almost daily? It's a good bike that'll get you from point A to point B. While I'm leaving a 5-star review, I'll go over the general cons I've experienced. 1. Overall Speed: It more or less caps out at 15mph, but when the battery is dying, it's not gonna be hitting that speed, probably 8mph or 10mph max. 2. Inconvenient peddling: By the nature of the bike, the engine that is embedded into the back wheel makes it harder to actually peddle when you're using it purely analog. This makes it quite annoying to peddle if you need to get places, but I suppose is fine if you want to hit a workout in your routine. 3. Not great for distance: You can probably ride for about 5 miles max before your battery starts dying and it gets slower as mentioned above. This is great for casual riding, but if you're trying to go around for 10 miles, this bike is probably gonna die on you. 4. It comes with lights on the bike, which is great for safety for night riding so cars can actually see you. But, the front light tends to get moved around, since it's held up by merely a tiny screw. It's an easy fix, but rather inconvenient. 5. The chain pops off pretty frequently. It has never broken mind you and it's very easy to pop back on, but it does force you to stop to fix it, since the bike is low enough that it would be dragging on the ground below you. I suppose a plus is that since the engine is embedded into the wheel, you don't actually need the chain to ride it, since I rode it a few times with the chain off. I'd say I've had it pop off maybe 10 times since I've bought it? Which may not sound like much, but I've never had a regular bike chain come off. 6. The battery, charger, and the indicator on the handlebars are not great at actually telling you how much charge you have left. It's like, 4 little bars, and it gets higher or lower pretty frequently as I ride, especially up hill. I think it's more accurate to say it tells you how much longer it's going to last based on how you're riding in the moment, than it telling you the actual amount. Side note, the manual explicitly states to plug the battery with the charger first before plugging it into the wall. That seems extremely odd since I don't know why it would make a difference, but that's what I've been doing. 7. Price? I'd say it was a worthwhile buy for the value of $600 as of writing this review. I use it daily, but only because I wanted a bike that folds away. You could get more powerful and bigger bikes for the same price, but it suited my specific needs. 8. The folding feature is nice, but I only fold the handlebars down to fit it into a car. You can fold it from the base between both wheels, but that makes it more annoying to carry. Also impossible to keep it standing in a balanced manner for storage. 9. The wheels are probably alright at best. Like, they didn't wear down super quick, but it did get smooth faster than I'd like. Not sure if they actually wear indicators like some bikes, but I think I'm gonna have to replace them at least once a year. 10. Terrain? This thing is more or less a pavement princess, which should be obvious with 16 inch wheels. It can ride in grass, a bit of rain, and small debris like sticks but I wouldn't make a habit of it. A hole about the size of a medium sized bowl can just stop you right in your tracks and you're basically never riding over any curbs or obstacles bigger than 6 inches. 11. The battery can easily slide in and out, which is nice, but it can also easily slide in wrong. You won't break it, but it becomes a real pain to pull out, by sliding the little catch on the battery just under the actual rail it slides onto. Like, yeah it's easy to NOT do, but it's equally as easy to do if you're not paying attention or blind as sin like me. Either way, it's a good bike but I'd say it should be considered for very specific situations. There's plenty of better bikes, but the main draw is if you don't have a ton of space to store it. ... show more

  • Missing tire parts
Worst product. Came without the complete setup to start. Waited a month for the company to replace the parts. Since then it's been nothing but issues. The back tire kept bulging out and today it popped. Sounded like a gun going off. The whole bike has a bounce when you drive it. It's awful.

  • Be prepared to keep this bike, REGARDLESS of your original intention!
UPDATED 11.28.2025: Be aware that the front-wheel axle & hardware is almost impossible to replace! I contacted Hoverfly, & they told me that they were out-of-stock! So here’s the problem: they claim that the cap nuts are 70mm, but the wing nuts that I got wouldn’t work – probably because of the thread count. Wound up using 3/8” shaft collars with 1/8” hex screws: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BTWHXBP?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 Actually a better choice since they tighten much better than the original cap nuts! So be prepared to be VERY flexible when repairing this bike! This is the kind of bike that you keep from the beginning! IMPORTANT NOTE: the box says model "hephele", which is confusing since the Amazon description says "H3". Difference is that both models are foldable, electric bikes. H3 is an upgraded version with various accessories. Regardless - this bike comes packed with so many Styrofoam inserts & cable ties that it'd be almost impossible to re-box it if you want to return. So plan on keeping it. ALSO - my experience with other devices with large, removable batteries is that you'd better get a spare battery! The Hoverfly website shows one for $200. So be prepared to get a spare if / when you need it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, as long as you understand what you're buying!!! ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised
I am changing my review. When I first wrote my review I gave this bike 2 stars because I was having issues with the throttle cable and I had to get bike fixed a day after I received it. But since then Hoverfly reached out to me via email.to.rectify the situation and Amazon refunded me 20%. Since getting the bike fixed, I've been able to ride it and it rides smoothly, has a good speed to it and gets up hills very well. Thank you Hoverfly and Amazon for rectifying the situation ... show more

  • E-bike
This bike doesn’t fold, it’s supposed to. Not an H3, it’s an Nephele.

  • Easy eBike to assemble
The Hoverfly folding electric bike, powered by a 350W brushless motor with a max speed of 15.5MPH was pretty easy to assemble. It came with enough of a charge to test it out. I weigh just over 160lbs. My normal weight is between 135 and 145lbs. The holidays were good to me lol. So I stressed the bike as much as I dared. Tried going full throttle from a dead stop. That did well. Tried going up hill and it struggled with my weight. However, with just a gentle peddle assist, it made it up a steep hill just fine. Keep in mind I didn't give it a full charge after assembly. I think the motor is a little weak for my weight. It will do better with a human under 130lbs. As long as I don't stress it by following the guidelines (peddle start before giving it power and peddle assist going up hills) it should be fine. I do have my doubts it will travel unassisted for 15 miles off a full charge however- not with my weight. The battery could be a little bigger, as should the motor. Also, there are no USB ports that I could find. That would be nice to have. The bike itself feels solid. It doesn't wobble or seem cheap. It's easy to disassemble for loading in a vehicle. Disk brakes work very well and disengage the power when applied. The front light is bright enough to get me home in the dark, rear red light is also bright, not just a reflector. A flashing red light option would be an improvement. It boasts front shocks, and they do work. However, the front wheel looks a tad smaller than the rear, making it harder to keep straight at low speeds. I had to adjust the back breaks because they were partly engaged when shipped. The bike glides well now. I think the bike is a little overpriced for having a small motor and barely adequate battery. The listing suggests taking a second battery along. Sure, but an extra one wasn't included, so purchasing it will set a person back in extra costs. Why not make the battery bigger? Just my thoughts there. I can't fault the bike too much. Some of my friends have much more expensive eBikes with much larger motors. Those go faster and farther with more weight capacity un-assisted. They can also cost 3 or more times as much. For my short runs to a neighbor's house for dinner will save my car from running it. No, I can't complain there. So, for what it is, the eBike is worthy of consideration for anyone at or under 130lbs imho. ... show more
