4 month review- Bike no longer functions properly. Turning throttle to speed up bike will slow down on its own and motor disengage. Intermittent re-engagement, ultimately it will stop on its own. In the beginning you just hop on and turn the throttle , away it goes. Now you have to pedal franticly with throttle turned before motor will engage. Battery is fully charged. Checked that. Hasn't been through water, hasn't been wrecked. Customer service phone number is a complete joke. Someone's cell phone where the voicemail is full. Sent emails through support website, no response. Also heads up, Amazon takes no responsibility for this item they sold on their website. All they can do is email the manufacturer for me. Going back to Ebay where a sellers rating actually means something and they respond. Manufacturer can makes things right or I will throw it through their California office window. 1.First of all, shipping was 4 days late than what was advertised when I bought off Amazon. 2.Bike has a fantastic headlight. I mean it is super cool. But then you get a cheap ass little red reflector like you would get on a WalMart bike. I didn't see any pictures of the rear of the bike when advertised. I just assumed it had a taillight because it had turn signals and a headlight. Why in God's name wouldn't you put a functional LED taillight?? My 12 year loves this thing and its super cool. However, for 1200 dollars it should have a taillight to go with the other lights installed- not a reflector. The back rack should be engineered better as well. The front tire fender was warped and cheap. I had to bend the support arms better to even get the mounting holes to line up. There is no way to fix rear luggage rack other than drill new holes in the rear rack over the fender. Sure as hell not going to repackage the bike just for that. No way I am going to return this for that and have to wait till after Christmas for a new one. Got hosed on that.

After a number of months researching eBikes, I chose the Smartravel brand. Why a eBike? In my case (at 60+), I wanted to get more Cardio exercize and I had a Total Knee replacement. I hate doing Cardio in the gym (Boring) and wanted to be in the fresh air. An eBike was the perfect solution. As for choosing this model, it looks great! Front and rear hydraulic disk brakes offer far more stopping power over mechanical disk brakes. The aluminum frame and paint are flawless, the stated power level was adequate for my very hilly terrain. I have never received a product that came shipped and packed better than this eBike! The engineering of the packaging was amazing! Not a scratch on the bike. It actually came with a legible, comprehensive Owners Manual. I had the Smartravel eBike assembled in about an hour, and on the Charger. Make sure you charge the battery in full (a red LED Light on the charger turns green) and your good to go. Pump the Brake Levers to pressure up the brakes until stiff. Add the recommended tire psi (I use a hand held Ryobi Cordless Air Pump, perfect) and use a quality air Guage. The seat is very comfortable, the LED Headlight is bright, and the horn isn't bad! In conclusion, I would recommend the Smartravel eBike to anyone. It can be ridden on and off road, has plenty of power and puts a stupid grin on my face!

Update a year and a half in. This bike has been ridden hard and fast and wrecked numerous times. My son used it as a primary mode of transportation year round. It’s pushing 10k miles. I wouldn’t give this bike 5 stars because it comes with bicycle cable brakes instead of hydraulic brakes. My son installed hydraulic brakes and this bike still runs solid. It doesn’t go as fast as it did when we first got it but still goes around 25mph, which is fine for us. I uploaded some recent pics. It’s still a good looking bike and can’t believe it’s withstood the abuse. Bike went together well, seems decent quality, and overall we don’t have any complaints. Shipping was a little stressful. We ordered this at the beginning of December in order to have it in time for Christmas. We received an email only a couple of days after ordering it, saying the fedex label had been printed. It sat like that for several days before the tracking showed fedex had possession of it. With delivery FedEx had their own issues and our delivery day kept getting pushed back, which was a pain due to having to be home to sign for delivery and cutting it close to Christmas. That part was on FedEx and I’m unsure what the issue was with shipping, which could have been FedEx as well. Overall quality is solid, just order it early if it’s a gift.

Received the DK400 today in perfect condition delivered by fedex. Took my time assembling the bike and charged the battery while assembling. The company supplied tools needed to assemble along with a poorly written manual but well illustrated manual. I was surprised how well it went together. The only issue at this point is the rear brake isn’t easily adjustable. It still needs adjustment but does work weekly though. Has good power without pedaling and pedal assist works just fine in all levels. The head light has a rounded squarish pattern that is odd. Considering it’s large round appearance. The battery is huge and heavy but works great. The display read full charge on my first trek of four miles around the neighborhood and back. Got to a top speed of 25 mph down hill of course. Average speed around 16 mph. I’ll take it out on a road and trail ride in the next couple of days to see how much abuse it can take. lol and I’ll update when I get a chance in a couple days. For now I’m just thrilled with this e bike so far and looking forward to the next few days ahead. Oh and just so you all know. The packaging was phenomenal with lots of foam material protection zip ties and tape. The heavy cardboard box was reinforced in certain areas and was really well done. Impressive to say the least. At this point I would say buy it if you’re looking into this one. Should be a lot of fun in my future. Description indicates 1200 watts, this is not the case unfortunately. 840 watts is what I received. Not sure why they indicate 1200watts but that was a main consideration to my purchase. Disappointed at false advertising and misleading information from the seller. Just letting anyone considering this e-bike know what to expect.

I purchased the DK400 electric bike with high hopes, given its impressive specifications like a 1200W powerful motor and an upgraded removable large capacity battery. However, my experience has been deeply frustrating and unsatisfactory, meriting only a 1-star rating. First and foremost, the battery never properly fit the bike. This significant flaw became a safety hazard as the bike would abruptly shut off in the middle of the road, creating dangerous situations during my rides. Expecting a quick and efficient solution, I was further disappointed when the replacement battery I received was for a completely different model. This mistake not only rendered the replacement useless but also prolonged the period I was without a functional bike. Additionally, the customer service experience was far from professional. The lack of return labels or packaging for the defective battery left me with no option to return the incorrect replacement, adding to my inconvenience. This oversight reflects poorly on the company's commitment to customer satisfaction and support. This is my first ebike, so far this bike has been nothing but spectacular. Battery holds charge for good amount of time, the ebike rides well in the dirt and springs and shocks make it an awesome ride. I usually ride in 1 or 2 pedal assist which is around 14 to 17 mph which is pretty quick for riding a bike. Had an issue that I unknowing caused with the speed limit, I contacted Smartravel to let them know what was going on with the bike and they were in contact with me everyday to help troubleshoot the issue. After a few different troubleshooting techniques they helped me solve the problem. I was kinda worried regarding contacting support but man they handled business and actually now I'm buying my wife one of their ebikes. Cant go wrong with service like this!
