  • Extremely Easy to Assemble, Very Well Made, Nice Features
Style: Neo X (Ages 12 - 16) Color: Blue
This Hover-1 Neo Foldable Electric Scooter comes very well packed. It's extremely easy to assemble, basically just requiring the handlebars to be attached. Once assembled, it requires a few hours to charge out of the box. It will take longer if the battery is fully exhausted. I normally charge it overnight. I have another scooter, which looks very similar. This one operates virtually identically. So, my learning curve was very short. Mine is a little heavier, has a more powerful motor and a larger battery. So, I have that one to make a direct comparison. These little things can be fun for kids to play with as well as can be quite practical in cities or school where you can drive but using the scooter it's possible avoid the hassle and expense of parking. One thing mine lacks, as well as this one, is provision to lock it up. It would be really nice if it had a loop which would allow a typical bike lock to be used. You can jury rig a cable lock and tie it up. But that is not very convenient. It folds up and is small enough it can be tucked under your arm and carried inside if you are working at a location where you have a corner to stand it up in while you are working. As to riding, you basically just twist the throttle lever and go. It is not a "seat of the pants" powerful scooter. You want to hold on when launching so it doesn't run out from under you. But, as compared to mine, which has a 400-watt peak motor, it is not as touchy. That might be better for kids and those less steady on their feet. The top speed is a brisk about 12 MPH on average terrain. Mine is much faster and will hit 20 MPH. But I never ride it that fast. These things are quite stable. But they are very sensitive to "edge traps" where you run into a grove or up against a raised slab, etc, just an inch or so high at a shallow angle. If it does it can easily throw you. I learned about edge traps riding motorcycles, so I am aware of this hazard. Pay attention to that or you can get an unwelcomed lesson. The scooter is relatively smooth on roads. But if the road has much texture to it, you will feel this because of the small high-pressure tires. I'd suggest being aware of your back if you have back issues and practice keeping your legs slightly bent. That will allow the spring of your legs to absorb any shocks of hitting bumps. If you don't do this and stand ramrod straight up the shock will be absorbed by your lower back and can cause injury if you have any problems in that area to start with like I do. This scooter is a little more costly than the one I have and others on the market with the same or higher capabilities. My current scooter, also from Amazon, is about 20% less costly, has an 18 - 20-mile range, and a significantly more powerful motor. I do not typically ride the scooter faster than this one will go. But the additional power headroom is nice for hills and acceleration. The weight of this one is a little lighter, but not enough so to make any difference carrying or handling it. Cost is a consideration. So, in view of everything it loses a star for value. ... show more

  • Great power and stability
Style: Neo V (Ages 8 - 12) Color: Gray
The media could not be loaded. This scooter is extremely nice looking and well made. Love the headlight and speed mode plus all the gauges .. it has plenty of power to move me around at 220 lbs. I’m sure it could do more weight.. the run time is great and the kickstand holds on in place ! I would definitely buy another!!! ... show more

  • Awesome scooter for a beginner
Style: Neo X (Ages 12 - 16) Color: White
We've been really happy with this scooter so far. We've never ridden one before, because we've never wanted to try them out on busy city streets. Having our own personal one has allowed us to slowly learn how to ride one safely and adjust to riding them safely on the road. There's lots of nice safety features to the scooter. There's a front light that lights the ground immediately in front of you as well as a back brake light. We've opted to put our own bike light on front as well with the flashing mode when we ride it to make ourselves more visible to motorists. We also have a red flasher on the back of our helmet for the same reason. If we do it on our bikes, why not on our scooter, right? There's also a few reflective stickers around the scooter, and I love the lighted bottom all along both sides of the scooter. Using the lights do drain the battery more, but our trips so far have been very short, around 2-3 miles. The wide wheel helps with stability, but steering from so high up still takes getting used to. The running board that you stand on could be a little longer, because I have size 8 women's feet, and I can barely fit both my feet on the board. The textured rubber surface is very nice for grip though. The charging port is protected by a small rubber cap, but I wished they would've provided a more secure cover. I'm a little concerned that the cap will break off or pop off at some point. The way it's designed, it's almost like they don't plan for you to use the scooter very often. The nice thing is that it takes less than five hours to fully charge for another ride. One of my favorite features is the eco mode that only lets you go up to 9MPH. This is a perfectly comfortable speed for me and using this mode ensures that I can throttle it without accidentally going too fast. I've ridden it on flat roads, and it hits 15mph with no problems, but when there's little rises and dips in the road, it'll vary by about 2-3mph. Supposedly, it can handle up to 15% incline which is pretty steep. I've taken it on hills with inclines of about 10%, and the speed tops out at around 7-8mph. Note, I'm 5'4", 135lbs, but my husband gets about the same speeds, and he's 5'9", 155lbs. The only other little wish I had for this scooter is some way to secure it. There's no hooks or rings for me to run a cable lock of some type to secure it if I need to go into a store real quick. As far as I can tell, any way that I try to secure it, it can be easily stolen. At 35 lbs, there's no way it's feasible for me to carry around. ... show more
