  • Slight Motor Troubles but was Replaced for Free
Color: MattBlack
I love the sturdiness of the scooter and it drives really smooth on pavement and other even surfaces. The heftiness and cool touch of the metal scooter lets me know that quality was definitely prioritized when assembling parts to create this XR Elite Scooter. I had slight problems with the motor (located in the front wheel) a few months after owning my scooter. It randomly made loud clicking noises every time the motor was in use. This didn’t really affect its riding capabilities, more so became embarrassing to ride for a bit since it made so much noise and I had people turn towards my direction wondering where the sound came from. I was worried that I might have damaged the scooter by either dislocating the motor, or some other underlying issue. Luckily the warranty was still valid, so I reached out to customer support and a customer rep named Lydia was able to diagnose the problem along with a local scooter repair place. I was offered a free replacement front wheel (which valued around $80 on the official Gotrax website) and all I had to do was send my old front wheel to a Gotrax facility via UPS! I really like my scooter and I’m hoping that this lasts me the remainder of my college years. ... show more

This is my first electric scooter. I figured I would try one of these out since a lot of people in my neighborhood seem to have them, even 50 yr old ladies. I was a little put off on buying an e-bike because of the price so this was definitely an entry level option. Plus I saw while searching they have some sort of seat attachment on Amazon so I may purchase one later. Well I have to say it is super fun to ride! It takes off really fast or at least it feels fast lol. I really like the lights on it front and back plus reflectors. It only took a couple hours for a full charge. So far I gave 4 stars, I took one star because the box was a bit beat up and the foam inside was torn up from the shipping which made me a little nervous. And it does make noise but not sure that is normal so we will see the next time I ride. I will update after a few more rides but literally got it yesterday. Update: Almost a year later and I love this scooter! It has a great battery! I take it with me to the park and when I visit my family in MI! It’s super funny watching my Mom and Mother in law ride on holidays! If you are looking this is a good entry level machine. Had to give an extra star. My next door neighbor bought one for his son after seeing us play on mine! ... show more

  • Nice and light scooter for convenient travel Nice and light scooter for convenient travel

I bought this scooter for my gf after having the Gotrax G4 for a couple of months, she finally wanted her own. Originally I was going to buy the exact model that I had but I was saddened to see that it was no longer offered so I bought this alternative. Of course I was not surprised on how well it preforms. Compared to its counter part what I like about this is the quick and easy operation no longer need to input any password to start riding. One downside that I see is the latch to hold the scooter folded is no longer on a latched clip rather Yelp by tension from the wheel guard, I’m curious to see the longevity on that as it must be forced down to release. I like the new tires not as bulky as the G4. It’s going to make beach days fun now that we have two. Just a heads up If you plan on locking this up you may have to find a work around as this one no longer offers the built in locking mechanism. I have never attempted leaving it locked somewhere as it’s been pretty portable on its own. ... show more

  • UPDATED! Running again, great fun, useful, good customer service, but some durability challenges
Color: MattBlack
I really love this scooter for my 1/2 mile commute to and from work. I bought it in September 2023 and used it several times a week as long as the weather was good. Easy to operate, feels safe to ride, fits in the elevator, and tucks nicely out of the way in my small office during the day. All that said, I have not found it to be very sturdy. I had to replace a tire after just a couple of months, but I chalked that up to the streets here being pretty crappy. Then in June I was halfway to work when the console went dead. I contacted GoTrax customer support and they were very good about sending a replacement part under the warranty, though it took almost a month to arrive. (Thanks especially to Sidereal, the super friendly and helpful customer service rep, who moved things a long when I inquired.) I changed that out and now the console (and thus scooter) works again. But I can't ride it at the moment because the rear fender has broken off--it was cracked and since that's where the upper part locks in when it's folded, folding it just broke it right off. (There's a rear light wired through it, so I'd need to clip the wire or do some surgery to simply remove it all the way.) Their website says the replacement is out of stock, so we'll see what I can come up with. So all in all, I like the scooter, but I would look for something sturdier next time--and probably not fold it! EDIT TO ADD (9/29/2024): I have to give another shout out to Go Trax customer support, as they are shipping me a replacement fender. When it arrives and I've got it running again, I'll likely add another star. Parts ship from China, so there's a really long delay in receiving them in the US. That's obviously not their fault, but at the same time, it means I've spent the last two months unable to ride the scooter, so I hesitate to recommend a purchase even though it's great when it does work and the customer service is really top notch. EDIT TO ADD (10/2024): I finally received the new fender, which included new screws to attach it, an already-installed tail light, and a ponytail to connect it electrically. Easy enough to unscrew the old and attach the new, but the electrical connection would require removal of the battery, which was .. let's just say complicated. Instead, we cut the wire and soldered it to the old one. Scooter is now up and running--and getting compliments!--but be aware that this may be more DIY than some riders wish to do. Still, GoTrax will clearly stand behind their product, so I'm adding a star just for the above-and-beyond customer service. ... show more

  • 2 broken scooters later don't waste your money
Color: MattBlack
Bought this March 2021. I was so excited and this was helping with my commute to work which is less than 2 miles and it is very fun to ride until your back tire (tube) punctures. I didn't even have my scooter for 2 months. The screw that holds the reflector in place is stripped and I can't remove it so that I can get to the screw to remove the tire to fix it. I've spoken to a couple of people even filed a warranty claim and I still haven't heard back from Gotrax. Overall the scooter is awesome but I'd give it zero starts if I could since I'm out of $400 and didn't get to enjoy it. This was almost gonna be a great summer. Now not so much, got no way around sucks. Update: I was contacted by email about this review over a year later Oct 2022. Told me they fired their last customer service team and implemented a new one. Said he came across my review and was going to send me a new one due to the lack of assistance prior. I haven't had the replacement for long just a couple weeks so I can't say if it is better yet but we'll see. However I commend the manager of the new customer service team for reaching out to me and making things right. Not many people left in the world who try to make things right. Hopefully this one lasts. Thank you Wei Z. Update: Replacement scooter doesn't even work. Something is wrong with the battery. Contacted gotrax/amazon and they don't have this replacement order on file so I can't even fix this. Never buy this brand. They seem to all have a problem. ... show more

I’ve been using the GOTRAX XR Elite Electric Scooter for a while now, and I’m honestly really impressed with how well it performs. The ride is smooth and comfortable, and the scooter has a solid, sturdy feel that gives you confidence while riding. The acceleration is steady, and it picks up speed quickly without feeling shaky or unstable. The brakes are responsive and reliable, which is super important for city riding or quick stops. One of my favorite things is the battery life it lasts longer than I expected, and I can easily get through my daily commute and errands on a single charge. The display is clear and easy to read, and the headlight is bright enough for evening rides. It also folds down easily, which makes it convenient to store or bring inside. Overall, this scooter has been such a great purchase. It’s reliable, comfortable, and definitely worth the money. If you’re looking for an electric scooter that’s durable, easy to use, and perfect for everyday rides, I definitely recommend the GOTRAX XR Elite! ... show more

  • Nice solid ride with great menu of features
Color: MattBlack
I am a recreational rider of mostly bicycles and fuel scooters in the past. I have only begun to venture into riding escooters and i started out on a Razor Prime III this spring. I wanted to expand my comfort level and range on a more powerful scoot so i looked around. I saw a few that appealed to me but the price was higher than i could afford. I got a Gotrax Ultra but it got stolen out of my car. My purple pal! I looked to buy it again but it was sold out. Then i found the Elite and it had a few more things on it that i prefered over the Ultra. Rear lighting, wider deck, no more 2nd gear, matte black color, among others. I ordered mine and then all of a sudden they were no more! Anyway, i wanted this longer range scooter so that I can ride it around and down bike paths exploring and more or less extending my walking through neighborhoods and over to the coffee shop or duck pond. It does all that and is not so heavy in it's weight that i cant get it in the car and over to other parks and trails. I am not so much interested in speed as i am in range and pulling hills and not breaking down on me when i am out "smelling the roses" with my snacks and camera. I am the only adult any age that i know of in my neck of the woods that rides an escooter, ebike, or regular bicycle. I get a lot of looks from adults and lots of interest from kids on kickscooters until I take off on the Elite. I hope to become more confident as this scooter intimidates me a bit with it's very touchy throttle and tight braking system. I am a very rank scooterist, starting later in life at 65, but determined to build my skills. I think that the Elite has longevity and will be a good basic scooter for me. I recommend it if you can find one. ... show more

  • Keep searching, this is not the one.
Color: MattBlack
First off a few big negatives: The battery meter is not reliable. It is based off of the voltage drop of the battery, which under load will be greater. Under load (especially hills), the battery meter will go down, then recover at a stand still. Even then, I've had it show two bars, then four bars, and anything in-between while riding on a flat surface, fluctuating wildly. For someone who wanted to use this scooter for a commute, I don't trust the battery read-out. This scooter will never go more than 13 MPH. I compared the onscreen max speed of 15.5 to that of a bike GPS speedometer. It never went above 13. I'm a light-weight adult, and so I know that wasn't part of the issue. Max speed is limited by the software in the scooter. Without an ability to access or upgrade the firmware, fixing the display to show the correct speed will not happen. The headlight seems to drain the battery really fast. I got half the range on the scooter with the headlight on. I had to use a bike light mounted on the handlebars. Which was better any way, because the built-in headlight doesn't help illuminate too much. I was able to get 11 miles of range, not the 18, running at 13mph on a mostly flat paved terrain. Again, I'm a light-weight adult. I expected more range. Though its mileage fits into my commute window (and charging at work), I don't feel like I can trust this scooter to not die on me later on as the battery wears. The cruise control is dangerous. There is no auditory or visual indicator the cruise control is on. If it has turned on and you let go of the throttle expecting to slow down, you will keep going at the current speed until you press the brake. A second or two of realizing this will be too late, especially since you won't know if its turned on. To that point, the cruise control turning on seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes it takes 5 seconds, other times 10 for it to engage. You won't know. There is no way to upgrade the firmware to add a visual or auditory indicator or ability to disable this feature. The folding latch feels solid. However, upon releasing it, the handlebars will come falling down quickly. I hit my head a few times. Since I was wearing a helmet (you are too... right?) it didn't hurt, but could injure those not expecting it. The braking on this scooter is excellent! You will need to adjust the rear brake yourself. Those used to adjusting bike brakes will have no issues here, but it will need to be adjusted right out of the box. Fortunately, its extremely easy to do. However, the steering column has a bit of a wiggle to it, even when all the screws are tightened down, and is noticeable while braking. Odd note: The handlebar itself is not a normal tube. It is a tube with a notch throughout the length of the tube. You will be unable to install some accessories, especially ones that insert into the handlebar tube. ... show more
