A really good value. Looks good all around, performs well but I was curious about the actual wattage settings. An ammeter shows the actual Watts drawn at all 15 settings in the attached image. Not accurate but who really cares. It works well except for occasional E4 errors when warming at low heat settings, which aren't listed in the manual. The workaround is to turn it on at full power then lower it to the desired level. Full power is not really 1500W, the most I got was just under 1200W. The most annoying feature is the noisy fan, don't expect to replace it with a quiet computer fan. The size and shape of the fan is non-standard and it runs at 18V. Overall, it's a pleasure to use. The digital controls are a great feature. The heating element warms and cools quickly, plus it works with any kind of flat-bottom pot/pan. Efficiency will be reduced with pots that don't fully contact the heating surface, there can't be an air gap above the burner. Also, larger pots that fully cover the heating area heat better than smaller pots. After owning many kinds of electric single burner stoves, this one is a keeper.

I came back to update my review. My original review was 5 stars and now I wish that I could give it zero stars - My original review is below the dotted line - I've used this hot plate 5 or 6 times, and last night, it quit working in the middle of cooking something. It gives me an 8888 error code - nothing I can think of will resuscitate it, nothing in the manual addresses this. Purchase a different hotplate, this one is no good. ............................................................................. We purchased it to use while traveling and it is exactly what we want and need. Easy to use, but it'll take a bit to get used to how long it takes to preheat and etc. It has a built in fan which generates noise, but it is not overly loud. It is just a flat glass surface, so cleanup is a snap - there are no buttons or fiddly bits on the surface, just a turn dial on the front. I kept the shipping box for storage and also for protection when we travel. I predict that I'll be using it in the back yard this summer, when it's too hot to cook in the house.

So I bought this as an upgrade from an 1100w unit I have. Wanted to do more than just keep warm and actually cook/boil with it. So, first the failure. First use, it ran 5 minutes, started making a clicking noise and in about a minute a loud pop and clacking noise and it started vibrating like crazy. Easy to see the cooling fan failed, pretty dramatically, throwing fin pieces all over the interior. I was not daunted. Opened it up, cleaned it out and removed the fan. Turned out it won't work without the fan. So I ordered a new fan (2 for $9, now I even have another backup) and when it arrived I did the easy replacement. It has been awesome ever since. It heats up fast, boils water like my house electric stove, and generally performs well. Could I have saved the $9 and returned/replaced it? Sure. Could I be sure the new unit fan would be any different? Nope. The fins on the replacement fans are noticeably thicker and of better construction than the original that failed. I guess this is a 50/50 review, but I'm a fixer, so I gave it high marks for what it was intended for.

Love it. It gets very hot, can add or subtract time, great for beans or lentals because you can set the timer and it always cuts off allowing you to leave the room.

I've been living without a real kitchen for 3 years now and have gone thru a few different hot plates for cooking but this one is my dream come true. I don't have enough electrical to use more than one appliance at a time in my little set-up (toaster oven, hot plate, espresso machine, microwave) but with this large surface, I can fit my moka pot for coffee and small kettle for cooking my oatmeal AT THE SAME TIME! I find it's extremely easy to clean especially with the little cloth that came with it. However, today I used that cloth when the unit was still hot and ruined it. Would love to have another cloth but how to get one? It's always too hot, too. Hard to figure out the right temp for simmering, etc.

I use this product for canning, since my aluminum canner won’t work on my induction stove. It works , except that it turns itself off after a few minutes, which would ruin your canning batch if you didn’t notice. Very annoying and unnecessary. I haven’t been able to set the time setting to the duration I need.

The media could not be loaded. My kitchen stove is an electric stove that varies temp on its hot plates so often that I had to buy an alternative for my pressure canning. This hot plate is easy to use, but also gets hot enough on the 1500 watt setting to get my Presto 23 quart canner up to pressure in about 20 to 25 minutes. Then, it gives nice steady heat at 600 watts so that I don't have to touch it again. I ran it like this for 90 minutes the other night, worked like a charm and never varied temp at all. Very comforting to know that I can walk away from it if needed (for very short times, of course). Yes, you can hear the fan. No, it didn't bother me at all, and in fact my wife scoffed when I told her some reviewers were hating on the fan. I haven't used the timer feature. My canner takes so much of the surface of the hotplate up, it is a little difficult to see the readout (see video), and I wish the readout and on/off/timer controls were either on front of burner with temp control know, or at least close to edge. This wood allow users who have large pans to see it easier. Still, I'm giving this a 5 stars anyway. I'm very pleased with its performance!
