  • If you're looking for a thorough review - here you go!
Style: MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel
I am not normally the person to get excited over new cleaning products. I just want something that does the job it's supposed to do - no bells and whistles necessary. This vacuum got me excited enough to come write a review. I'm going to break this down by features. - Chord length - The chord is nice and long! With my old vacuum I would get so annoyed because I was either accidentally pulling the plug out of the outlet or having to stop what I'm doing to change to a closer outlet just to finish a room. Drove me insane! With the Hoover I found myself able to do an entire room and sometimes start into another room all without having to change outlets. Seems silly to rave about but it saved me time and frustration. - Hose/tools - I live near the woods so I'm in a constant battle with spiders and cobwebs. A durable hose is important to help clean the hard to reach webs. I just received the vacuum yesterday so I cannot attest to the long lasting durability of the hose but it feels like a great quality and made my dusting rounds today a lot easier. My last vacuum the hose kept cracking and I would lose all suction and had to hold it a certain way to be able to clean. The Hoover also has an awesome feature where you can lower the suction of the hose which I found helpful today when a plant tipped over on my table and I was able to clean it up without sucking up the table cloth. As far as the tools - it came with this weird "pet" attachment that has heavy duty rubber strips instead of rollers - at first I looked at it like "what the heck is this going to do?" but let me tell you - it's amazing. I vacuumed my steps today with that attachment and while it's kind of awkward to use at first it completely transformed the carpet and brought it back to life! I literally texted my husband while he was at work saying "the pet attachment completely revitalized our carpet!!" (it's been a tough year so yea I'm pumped with any small wins). - Weight - I know some of the reviews said that it's too heavy and hard to push - I disagree. It's not the lightest vacuum I've ever owned but it definitely isn't too heavy. It has just enough weight to feel like it's built to last and it has amazing suction power that you can definitely feel when pushing but I did my entire house today - including carrying the unit up the stairs while cleaning them - and carrying the vacuum by the handle while using the hose to clean all along the trim and ceilings and I have no complaints about the weight. Trust me I'm no weight lifter so my arms would be falling off if this was too much to handle. - Hardwood/tile - I know a lot of vacuums say they are good for hardwood and tile floors - I have never been impressed with their abilities and opted for a broom and dust pan - I have three dogs so I would get what I like to call "fur tumbleweeds" not fun to deal with. The Hoover seemed to do an amazing job even on the non carpet areas of the house so I'm pretty pumped to not have to sweep around tumbleweeds anymore! So if anyone is still reading at this point...bottom line is so far I'm very impressed with this vacuum. If I remember I will come back and update about the long lasting durability but after researching a bunch of vacuums and seeing the prices I am happy to say that this vacuum is cheaper and seems to do an amazing job so far! The amount of dirt/dander/ and fur it picked up even though I recently vacuumed with my old vacuum is amazing (and disturbing!) My husband and I have noticed our allergies this year have been out of control and after seeing what this vacuum picked up I wasn't surprised! So hopefully now we will be getting some relief! ... show more

  • Def recommend :-) **1 year edit**
Style: MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel
I would definitely recommend this vacuum. I’ve searched for a very long time for the perfect vacuum that can keep up with my Corgis hair balls all over the place lol and this one can definitely do the job. I wanted to make sure I actually used it before giving a review and I’ve had it for over a month now and use it at least twice a day & I still love it. The cord is very long where sometimes you can get caught up in it, but I’d rather have a long cord that can go thru almost my whole house without having to plug & unplug multiple times. I was nervous about some of the reviews showing some of the hair getting caught in the base but if you keep the carpet roller on constantly even on your hardwood floors, that seems to solve the issue. I had hair get stuck at the base too until I kept the roller on at all times. I’ve gone thru 2 vacuums prior to this one, and one was a Bissell specifically made for dogs & it broke down after two months. Definitely give this one a try, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. **OK So after having this for a year I feel like I have to edit my review. I’ve had it one year I’ve used it probably twice a day because I have a corgi dog who sheds a ton. I loved this vacuum and I’ve definitely put some miles on it, but I’m bummed bc the hose has a huge rip in it & You can not get replacement hoses. And now the little plastic piece where the wand hooks to the base broke. So now I cant swivel from side to side, basically useless. I was hoping a vacuum would last more than a year so I’m bummed. Loved it while it worked tho. ... show more

  • A slightly heavier vacuum
Style: MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel
As a Senior this is heavier to pull but pushing is easier than my previous vacuum (Bissell Pet Hair Swivel). It does a great job and the attached wand and on/ off button for brush roller are great ideas. The pet hair brush does not stay attached to the wand when using and the handle pinches sometimes. Disappointed in the heavy pull but will keep it. I was leary of Hoover as I have bought their product before and it was cheap and did not last. This model feels sturdier. I contacted the company in regards to the handle and returning the entire unit through Amazin was the option. I purchased the extended warranty so hopefully,I won't have to use it. ... show more

  • Best forever - lasts and cleans like no other

Best Vacuum, second purchase for rental property. Reliable, great suction.

  • 3 of these malfunctioned within weeks
Style: MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel
I wanted to love this vacuum! It's got great suction, it's designed well - easy to manipulate, simple to empty and clean, and the attachment is fantastic. We live in an older home with primarily hardwood floors, so the attachment wand is particularly important to me - I need it to have a very long reach, and this one does. Our first Hoover Max Life Pet Pro Swivel was delivered at the end of January. It worked well, but we noticed right away that there was a significant crack in the plastic around the handle, going down into the wand. The function of the vacuum didn't seem to be impaired yet, but we also felt that when buying a brand new vacuum, it ought to arrive free of damage, so we sent it back to Amazon and got a replacement of the same product. Our second vacuum arrived at the beginning of February. By the beginning of March, it also developed a crack in the plastic around the handle/wand. I was frustrated, but the vacuum was functioning without issue. Until the crack moved a little further, and then it effectively disabled the means by which the wand stays locked in place when not in use - so that when using the vacuum on a rug in the push/pull motion, every pull dislocated the wand. Which is, of course, attached to the handle itself. Every push was impossible to control - the vacuum moved at awkward angles. I'd have to move it around by pushing on the canister. Obviously, this wasn't acceptable or sustainable! We contacted Amazon, but the (30-day, I believe?) return window had just passed. Amazon customer service was great and connected us with Hoover customer service. Hoover arranged to send us another vacuum- same model. I was skeptical, but I really LIKED this vacuum (except for the breaking.....) and another replacement seemed to be our only option. Amazon couldn't refund any longer, and Hoover wasn't willing to. Our third vacuum arrived from Hoover by the end of March. On April 16, after vacuuming the area rug under my dining room table, I turned it off, pulled out the wand to get the edges of my floors, and pushed the power button again. The vacuum wouldn't turn back on. It lit up, but wouldn't run. I tried it in various outlets, but with no luck. I waited a few hours, tried again, and this time it did turn on. But the motor sounded very loud, and it had almost no suction. Over the next day or two, this just got worse until it had no suction whatsoever and was hot to the touch whenever it was turned on. We contacted Hoover, wanting a refund so that we could buy another vacuum - NOT a Hoover. Hoover, however, is unwilling to refund us because our original payment went to Amazon. They sent us another model. The customer service agent assured me that this new vacuum would meet my needs - and I was clear to tell her that the most important things to me are a long-reach wand and a HEPA filter. The vacuum that arrived is smaller and cheaper (149.99 vs. 199.99) than this model that I am reviewing, and the wand has a much shorter reach. It's bulkier, harder to manipulate, and I do not like it at all. I am at a loss about what to do at this point. Mostly, I'm disappointed in Hoover. I was all set to love this vacuum - like I said at the top, the design and function are just what I was looking for. But a machine that keeps breaking is just a bad machine. If Hoover had refunded us after the second vacuum had broken, I would have thanked them for their customer service and moved on. Instead, I am stuck with a Hoover model that doesn't meet my needs, and I will never buy another product from this company. ... show more

  • Will make your carpets brand new! Will make your carpets brand new!
Style: MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel
Works amazing for long pet hair and high shedders. I have a German Shepherd and it picked up dog hair I didn’t even know was there. I vacuumed once with my old Shark vacuum and then went back over the same area with this vacuum and it picked up so much more hair dirt and dust! It’s amazing and half the cost of a shark. It’s super easy to use and easy to empty. And it’s fairly lightweight so it can be carried up and down stairs. I used it today to clean my car and it was just as good as a shopvac. Highly recommend! Pic #1 is the amount it vacuumed up from just one half of my office carpets that were already vacuumed a few days before. I vacuumed the same area again and it did pick up a just a little bit more, pic #2. Now I KNOW my floors are clean! They’re fluffy, and soft and feel brand new again. ... show more

  • Pet Owner’s Fairy God Mother
Style: MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel
Pet Owners, meet your Fairy God Mother, or at least as close as you can get. We live with 8 rescue dogs, including a Great Pyrenees, corgi mixes, beagles and Aussie mixes. I have killed more vacuums than I can count, and yes, they were TOP of the line. This Hoover is a WINNER! Here’s my review: (1) suction power is comparable to a Kirby. I don’t have to spend time making numerous passes like I had to with my third Dyson. The roller doesn’t clog with hair like my Dysons 1-3. This is a HUGE plus, because no broken belts, no nasty accumulations of dog hair, and no fruitless dissections of hair from the roller. The hair goes into the catch canister which is large enough to save you from multiple trips to empty the contents. (2) the design is intuitive, and I’m guessing designed by a pet owner. My big gripe with every other vacuum is the inconvenience of switching from the upright to the handheld vacuum, or wand. This Hoover is AMAZING. You can switch quickly from upright, to hand-held to wand and back again as you tackle each area of your home. It has a switch to increase or decrease the suction power, which is BRILLIANT when it comes to vacuuming delicate items you don’t wish to suction into the tube, like drapes, bed covers, or furniture covers. (3) this vacuum is very maneuverable and it’s design allows you to reach under even a low coffee table. It EXCELS at edging, and the deck is the right width to drive between chair legs, and tilt through tight spaces without a decrease in suction power. It is not self-propelled, although this wasn’t a feature I found necessary. HOOVER may wish to consider this as an option in the future. The edging tool will remove ANYTHING, and it’s got power comparable to edging with a shop-vac. The brush attachment on the hand-held unit works as a duster. I’ve never had a vacuum that could competently work as a DUSTER!! If you have multiple pets, this is a gold-standard feature you won’t wish to do without. The electric cord is not retractable, but who cares when you have 30’ of cord. (4) Vacuum clean-out is amazingly well-designed. Whoever engineered this feature understands the challenges of pet ownership. Dog hair is not the only challenge, and the amount of dust, dirt and dander generated by 8 dogs is the reason I’m a serial vacuum killer. When you release the canister into a trash bag, the contents readily falls out completely. It doesn’t require another tool to empty the contents. Clicking the canister in and out is very user friendly, as is accessing all the inner workings of the canister and filters. (5) I did not find the design of the hose positioning difficult nor cumbersome. There is a top and lower collar to hold the hose in place while you use it as an upright. There is also a tab to hold the electric cord up and away from the vacuum. Other brilliant features are the LED lights which light up darkened areas (under furniture, behind doors), the on/off roller brush function, and the BIG red on/off power button. The rubber pet hair “comb” is not a notarized brush, but fits on the end of the hand-held, or the wand. The suction is so superior, that the hair lift by this device just enables the vacuum to pick up and take the hair away. In summary, if you own multiple pets, buy it. I’m guessing it could handle a shedding horse, although that is not it’s intended use. However, for you horse people, you will understand how impressive this vacuum must be. Horse people have little or no time to clean their houses, so consider this sweeper as a real time saver. It grabs the dust bunnies from dogs and cats, does a decent job on hair removal from furniture, and maneuvers on the swivel deck easily with one hand from hard floor to carpeted areas. Buy it. ... show more

  • Cheaply made!
Style: MAXLife Pro Pet Swivel
Works well for a household that has a big black Labrador and two cats. Lots of pet hair. HOWEVER, the plastic around the extension wand mechanism broke. The power turns off if you take it out. Its not a well made product. Don't waste your money.
