Top Amazon Reviews

  • Nice and lightweight
Size: NEU182A w/ Washable Filter Color: Blue
So, I ordered a black and decker vacuum off of Amazon 9 months ago and it just turned off in the middle of vacuuming one day and decided to be done working. We have 2 big dogs and vacuum every other day if not daily. So, we cannot go without one. We used to get a vacuum at Walmart that would last quite a while, but I was looking for something less than $80 and maybe something we would like better and that is what led me to the black and decker. Since that one took a crap, I came on here to find something with better reviews and such. I came across this Eureka pretty quick and was quickly drawn to the over 7,000 reviews and the fact that it is lightweight and has an XL dust cup. After reading about the product and the reviews, I decided since it was on a great sale to go for it. We have had it only a few days so far, but it works like a champ. The pros for me are that it is very lightweight. I weighed the Eureka and my old one and there was just a 1 pound difference. The Eureka weighs about 11 pounds. I like that because I carry this up and down stairs to vacuum them and I can easily manage holding this. This sits higher so it is comfortable when pushing around. I like that it has the option to change from bare floor up to full carpet. One of the best parts is the XL dust cup. I showed a picture comparing my old one to this one and the size difference is huge. I love not having to empty it in the middle of vacuuming. While it is convenient to have the handle double as a wand extender, this was the one con I have found so far. When I vacuum using the wand, I like to hold the handle and pull the vacuum around with me and with the handle being in use that doesn't work well. Of course this is just a preference of mine. With all the vacuums we have had over the years we actually have some wand extenders we have fixed together and we just use that so we aren't overly bending over. I do wish the cord length was a bit longer. Of course that is just me being lazy and not wanting to change outlets often but when vacuuming the whole house, that is going to happen. When we got our old one, the cord was shorter than we were used to and had to get used to moving it a lot. While the Eureka can go a little further than our old one, it isn't much further. I still have to move outlets as much as before. I feel that it picks up things well both with the wand and being pushed around. It is easy to empty the dust cup and the filter is easy to get to and wash. I also don't feel it is extremely loud as I did read in some reviews. It sounds just as loud as any other vacuum I have ran before. So far I am pleased with my purchase and hoping to get some longevity out of it. ... show more

  • Works like a charm
Size: NEU182A w/ Washable Filter Color: Blue
I needed a budget, lightweight vacuum with hepa and a sealed system that would do a thorough job on wool rugs, do wood and tile floors too, and be easy to use for above floor cleaning. I tried and returned the (lavender) Shark Navigator Lift Away, but am keeping this (red) Kenmore. It's not perfect, but it's strong and flexible, with a sealed system and hepa. I've been really pleasantly surprised at the difficult spaces I can get it into! It's to replace an old, beloved Dirt Devil Featherlite. Here's my take on the features that matter to me, with comparisons to the Navigator and old Dirt Devil. Hepa with a Sealed System. I have pets and allergies. My old Dirt Devil had hepa but wasn't sealed and left the house hazy. The Navigator was supposed to be sealed, and it did seem to keep the air pretty clean, but there was a ring of carpet fiber and pet hair where the hose meets the vac (my Dirt Devil gets a similar ring around the seam of the dirt cup). This Kenmore's seal seems perfect (!), so long as you don't inadvertently pull the hose out of the extender wand, which happened to me the first time I used the vacuum :-(, but hasn't happened again. Be sure those pieces are tightly fitted together when vacuuming. I'm pleased at how fresh the air feels after deep cleaning with this vacuum and I haven't needed my inhaler which is really great. Price. Hepa with a sealed system is hard to find in budget vacuums. But what's the point in vacuuming if the dirt goes back into the air? Might as well rake. This sealed hepa vacuum is about 50 bucks less than the Navigator. Longer Hose! But short Wand, unfortunately. I didn't realize the nice long hose on my Dirt Devil had spoiled me until I tried to clean above the floor with the Navigator. Although the wand on that is great, the hose is short, and since you grip the wand at its base, that hose is the whole distance you can move from the vacuum, so you have toy use the lift-away feature a lot. With the wand in one hand and the lifted away dirt cup in the other, I had no hand free to move or hold things. When I would try to use the wand without the lift away, that short hose would tip the Navigator over, constantly. Ugh. This Kenmore has more hose which really helps, but it has a less wonderful wand. The hose is 10 ft, but pulls the vacuum over if you walk 4-6 feet with it. Still, it's long enough to do 12 steps if you don't mind it tipping over. The wand is just a little short. If Kenmore could have added an extender attachment that would have been great. As it is, you can only reach about a foot and half, or two feet max maybe with attachment, beyond your reach. No Lift Away on this Kenmore. I thought I might like Lift away on the other vacuum, but I didn't, except for the stairs. It left me no free hand and gave me a back ache on the stairs. I think that has something to do with the handle on the wand of that other vacuum which seems to be at an odd angle. Personally, I prefer the longer hose to the lift away. This vacuum is light enough that carrying it upstairs isn't a problem for me. Strong Suction. Like crazy. But that's not all good. Both this and the Navigator seemed to me to suck up an awful lot of carpet fiber along with the dirt. My old Dirt Devil didn't do that. Still, we buy vacuums to suck and suck it does, with gusto. Attachments. The crevice tool is too short! That said, this has all the attachments I need, which is good because its wand end is kinda non standard and won't work with any of the Dirt Devil, Shop Vac, or other attachments I have around. I found all the attachments useful, but you can only store (any) one on the vacuum, so will need to keep the rest in a closet or something. Navigation. It's my favorite thing about this vacuum, which surprised me. It has kind of a big head compared to the Navigator, and it's an upright, so I expected clunky. The Navigator was my first experience with swivel steering and I liked it alright. When I first tried this Kenmore I thought it must be broken, the steering was so loose. It took me a few minutes to get the hang of it. It just wanted to wiggle all over the place, it seemed, with such a steerable brush head and so much power in the rotating brush. Very much looser than the Navigator. But in a few minutes navigating the machine becomes intuitive (I'm an older lady with little upper body strength, so don't be intimidated), and once you learn how it's really nice. I have a very small house with too much furniture and odd angles and nooks, and this vacuum, in upright mode, not using the wand, got into most of them. The brush head is wide, but it's so swively you can turn a pretty tight half circle to get it into tight spaces. That is very helpful around here. Lightweight. Very important to me! I find this easy to maneuver and to lift. The super swivel and long hose reduce the need to lift the vacuum too. Looks. Okay, so it's ugly. Ugly vacuums need love too. I've had uglier. Brush head. Pretty good. It's not height adjustable, but it moves easily on my rugs and between my rugs and floors. There's suction control on the wand that can be used to reduce suction if needed for very plush carpet, but I didn't need that for my mid pile rugs. It has a switch to turn the beater brush off for wood and tile floors. It's larger than the Navigator brush head, and might be slightly larger than my old Dirt Devil head. I thought I wanted a small brush head for navigability, but this brush head is the most navigable of them all in my opinion because the swivel is so great. A bigger head saves passes too. Effectiveness. It got my house clean and kept the air clean too. Dust Cup. Much like the rest of them. They're a little messier than bags, but seem more cost effective and sustainable to me. My overall impression is that this is a darn good vacuum at the price. It's got hepa and a sealed system. It's got a long enough hose and plenty of attachments. It's powerful. It's truly lightweight and it gets into hard to reach spaces. I wish the hose, wand and crevice tool were longer. I wish the wand locked onto place on the hose so they couldn't pull apart inadvertently. All in all, I'm happy with this vacuum. ... show more

  • Vacuum works well if you treat it gently!
Size: NEU182A w/ Washable Filter Color: Blue
Ok, I read lots of the reviews & here's what I found; Yes, it has a very powerful motor and great suction but it IS ALL LIGHTWEIGHT PLASTIC. I have been using it several days and see that the see-through dirt holder should be emptied every time it's used, and not to let it get more than half full before emptying. I have basic low-pile carpet and the vacuum is just a little bit hard to push but no big deal; I do NOT recommend this unit if you have thick or high pile carpet. It will work but it's too much of a strain on this machine. It works fabulously if you keep it cleaned out, and do not use it continuously for more than 5-10 minutes because that strains the motor, and THAT’S THE ONLY TIME IT STARTED THE LOUD WHISTLE NOISE. I could tell it was the motor straining. I also do not recommend using this to pick up larger debris. It's great for effective vacuuming if you sweep up anything large enough before vacuuming. Is it worth the price? I won't know until I see how long it lasts. "Baby" it and you'll likely avoid some of the bizarre things I've read in Reviews, (like the vacuum spitting out dirt while vacuuming; It was probably clogged already.) So far it's a winner! 🏆 ... show more

  • This vacuum sure sucks! Wonderfully!

Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed Lightweight Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner vs Shark Rocket Professional Side-by-Side Review Background: I recently had to replace a Shark Rocket Professional, because the suction seemed to have been almost completely lost. I was always happy up to that point with it, but as I’ll explain below, after having purchased the Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed Lightweight Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner, I don’t miss it one bit. Since these are basically the only two vacuum cleaners I’ve owned in my adult life, I’ll be comparing them throughout this review. Weight: Winner Eureka NEU182A This is a very light weight vacuum. I have no issues moving it up and down the stairs to clean them. The shark is significantly heavier. Features: Winner – Shark Rocket Pro. As I mentioned above, I was always pleased with the Shark from the start and one of the reasons is that it tilts with very little effort, it seems to be slightly self-propelled, and it tilts low enough to go under my coffee table. To switch between upright mode and using the hose is a very easy process. The Eureka, however is the most basic model with no bells and whistles. I’m sure they make a comparable model to the Shark, but the one I got was basic. It doesn’t tilt very low, so to get under furniture you will have to move it. Though it is very light weight compared to the shark it is harder to push. In order to switch to using the hose you must shut it off, uncouple the hose from where it attaches to the brush roller assembly, then disconnect the handle and connect the hose to it. This was just one step for the Shark. The hose seemed to stretch farther for the Shark as well and I think the hose allowed more pivoting without kinking. Canister overall: Winner Eureka NEU182A The canister for this is a bit larger than the Shark’s. It also doesn’t have as many pockets to catch dust and dirt and hair on it as the canister for the Shark does. As a result, it’s easier to remove and empty. Cleaning Performance: Winner Eureka – By a land slide. The Eureka, though it is much lighter and cheaper, seems to have quite a bit of power over the Shark. It got my floor looking much cleaner with fewer passes. Noise: Winner Shark It’s not a huge difference in noise, but it is a difference. Cleanup: Winner Eureka – by a landslide. The canister for this is a bit larger than the Shark’s. It also doesn’t have as many pockets to catch dust and dirt and hair on it as the canister for the Shark does. As a result, it’s easier to remove and empty. The rollers on the Eureka seem to somehow be resistant to having hair and string wrap around them. When vacuuming with the Shark I had to clean the rollers by cutting the hair that managed to get wrapped around and pulling it off. This usually ended up being a pretty large pile. By contrast after I finished vacuuming for the first time in several weeks with the Eureka I was afraid to flip it over and look at the brush, but to my shock and amazement they were almost completely clean. The Shark’s rollers looked like they had started to grow hair of their own after the first use. Conclusion: Winner Eureka Eureka NEU182A The Eureka NEU182A PowerSpeed Lightweight Bagless Upright vacuum cleaner really sucks, thank goodness. It’s a great vacuum and will leave your floors clean. It’s light-weight and it did a great job on my stairs and furniture at removing animal hair. It is not a full featured vacuum, but it will get the job done. If you have physical restrictions or disability it may not be a good vacuum for you as it doesn’t get under coffee tables and is more difficult to push as it is completely unassisted. It doesn’t come with any attachments that allow you to reach very high, but you can buy attachments to allow this. Honestly the only two things I can Knock it for are that it doesn't feel super sturdy, which is a trade for being light-weight, and the fact that it doesn't lay all the way down to the ground. ... show more

  • SEVEN YEARS I have had this vacuum STILL WORKING GREAT!
Size: NEU182A w/ Washable Filter Color: Blue
Things I love about it. FILTERS - yes filters are washable, but easier for me to just buy new ones when needed. Inexpensive. CANISTER - WOW. Canister holds a LOT and I can easily see when it's getting full. REALLY PICKS UP - Depending on the setting you put it on, it can really suck everything out of your carpeting or rugs. Makes quick work of going over ceramic tile in kitchen and bathroom. EASY ASSEMBLY NICE ATTACHMENTS BOTTOMLINE: have paid MORE for vacuums not nearly this good. ONE THING, if you are giving to someone frail, has trouble vacuuming, while not exactly HEAVY, probably wouldn't be suitable for someone who needs something SUPER lightweight. ... show more

  • What a Nifty Vacuum Cleaner!
Size: NEU182A w/ Washable Filter Color: Blue
I'll begin this review with a little history, In 1981, I bought a Eureka upright vacuum cleaner. I used it continuously until LAST WEEK—yes, 39 years! Even the headlights still work! I finally decided to replace my 1981 model, however, when the on/off switch broke last week, permanently stuck in the ON position. I went online to Amazon and saw this vacuum cleaner from the same manufacturer, Eureka, on sale for a super-low Black Friday price. I ordered it without hesitation, looking forward to graduating from "bagful" to bagless technology. The new Eureka arrived today. I immediately unpacked it, read the instruction manual, performed the simple assembly steps, and tried it out. I love it! First, it's very lightweight and maneuverable. It's easy to push around, and it's so lightweight that I can comfortably use it with its attachments in quasi-cannister mode to vacuum our stairs. It's notably lighter than my old Panasonic cannister vacuum cleaner (yes, also a 1981 model that I'm still using!), which is the vacuum I had previously used on the stairs. The height adjustment goes from bare, hard floors to thick shag carpet in five settings. I tried the two extremes today: our bare kitchen floor and our thick living room carpet. The vacuum cleaner performed well in both extremes, providing a powerful and effective suction. This model has several accessories, which attach cleverly and securely to the unit for storage and convenient use. The foot controls, for power and handle release, are big and easy to operate with your foot. The "dust cup," as they call it—and it's much bigger than a cup!—was easy to detach and empty into the garbage. The only thing I'm missing (just a little!) are the headlights. I bought the model NEU182A, which does not have headlights. I didn't think about this issue when I pressed the BUY button, and it probably wouldn't have stopped me from buying anyway, given the excellent price. I expect to do just fine without headlights. As I've had the vacuum cleaner for just one day, I can't vouch for its durability. But if I get just one-fourth the lifetime I got with my old Eureka, I will be very happy indeed. ... show more
